I don't remember those beginning two screens at all. Treasure Island came bundled along with 5 other games with my +2a, one of the better ones along with Oh Mummy. I really should pick it back up. Great vid as always Richard buddy👍
This game definitely looks alright, I don't remember if I've played the speccy Version or not although it does look a little familiar, The word I would use for this game is interesting 😂 Have a wonderful weekend mate
A lot to unpack here 😊 We used to play this quite often. The first two screens are strangely under developed and out of place. They feel like maybe the developer had three ideas, isometric, side on and top down, and went with the last one but left the first two in. I remember if we didn't get across the barrels with all three lives we'd just quit and restart! For the jumping it's purely a timing thing, got to jump as the arms are bending up so you don't hit them. The island is kind of like a puzzle game as you were coming to realise, i.e. limited number of cutlasses and some pirates can be left whilst others must be killed. We had a paper nap we gradually drew so we knew whicu way to go, up to a point. Pretty sure like most games we never conpleted the island though! As for the controller, I'd forgotten about that but Todd was saying today how as soon as he heard the noisy clicking on yoir video it brought back the memories of it. Do you think it'd be good for shoot em ups with the trigger button?
Quit and restart makes sense to me 😄 - I bet there's a hack out there with a level skip. I think it'd be worth having because the island bit is quite fun. A map would definitely help! The joystick is pretty nice. A satisfying clickiness to it - I think it'd be great for shmups. I normally use a Quickshot Maverick which feels a bit arcade like, but I do blame it for my poor playing a lot 😂
@@retrotap I'll be honest, most weeks I'm watching you playing and trying not to shout at the screen with instructions on how to play it 😆 It's crazy how long these things stick with me, I can still instinctively remember how to play certain things. Like jumping these barrels, and getting the swordsmen to throw their cutlass then running away just far enough for it to drop to the ground. The reality is I must have spent hours playing it back in the day! Maybe we need to do you playing with no prior knowledge, then a Rocky montage with my tips, then you going back in and smashing it 😂
@garethyates 🤣 there are some I'll go back to and give more time I think. These first plays are more about documenting the collection really - I doubt I'll ever be good at a game in the first 10 minutes or so 😂 There's been a few real gems that I want to git gud at one day.

Thanks mate, it's probably better for skipping those two screens. I love Oh Mummy, didn't get a version for the 64 😭
Interesting one Rich, using their own blades against em eh!⚔️ Those mad arms on the jumping section were brutal. Well played boyo.🕹🏝🍀
It's karma mate 😂 I didn't enjoy the jumps, but the island section is decent enough.
Looks a fun game if not a little frustrating on the jumping section 🤣 definitely a game i would like to try mate 🙂👍
Let me know what you think if you give it a go mate 👍
I will have to get an emulator at some point as missed out on some classics from the 8bit micro era. I will let you know mate 🙂👍

Legend! Watching it back though, it's pretty obvious what I was doing wrong 🤦
