This story touches my heart and it resonates very deeply within me. I could never accept Christianity even as a child but I walked with God from my toddlerhood and the first chance I got to walk into a shul - a synagogue, was one of the biggest events of my life, I had waited decades to be able to do that because of where I lived there was no such structure or culture until I left that place and moved to and resided in a state that actually has synagogues. I remember the first time I heard a shofar, I dropped to my knees and was crying and I had no idea what a shofar was or why this was happening to me, the Shofar still sends incredible chills and shivers down my body and brings me to tears. I knew I had a Jewish ancestry, if I look at the tapestry of who I am the threads going up and threads going down and across some of those threads are Jewish, but most are a different nationality but I can honest to God say I've walked with God knowing his presence since I was at least two and a half - 3 years old. I could never wrap my head around the Christianity thing even as a young child in a parochial school in first grade, I knew what the nuns were saying was garbage and I resisted. I've never eaten seafood yet I was born in Maine on the coast, I refused it as a toddler and throughout my childhood and into adulthood. I couldn't stand the sight of fat or blood on meat and would not touch pork to save my life. Once I found out as a youngster the pepperoni was made with pork I never ate another bite, no one ever taught me this it was just there. I long to be in Israel at least to visit I can't say I would love to live there cuz I have no idea what the culture is like but I miss having a strong Jewish culture where I'm living presently. I love a Shabbat base lifestyle, I believe in tzedakah and the blessings that come with it, Torah as well as the whole Tanach - I enjoy what you bring to the table and thank you for enriching my life!
