Thank you, Father Mike, for this message today. I also Thank God for the Gift of Father John in my parish who says we should not dwell on the past, and not to worry about the future, we only have today. Walk with God every day and it will be alright. God WILL rebuild us! You are such a blessing to me and all of us. May God Bless you always! 🙏
How wonderfully helped and blessed we are through these podcasts! I am middle aged, ooops, no, I guess now I’m a senior citizen, and I have never had the privilege of hearing The Word of God, and the Old Testament explained so well and related to us today. What a gift!! 🙏 thank you Father Mike and blessings galore to you!
I am a cradle Catholic who moved from my hometown to Illinois in the 60's. I stayed faithful but the racism I encountered in the Church in Chicago from top to bottom drove me away. I became a practicing Protestant. Cardinal Bernadine whom I met in later years and told why I left embraced me and acknowledged the truth of what I told him. HE apologized and gave me his phone number and wrote to me. Had not been divorced and remarried to a devout protestant I would have returned. The Cardinal by his actions and loved he showed to all reignited my love for the Church. I returned 40 years later as a widow in my new home state ( not Illinois) because if the love, patience, and inspiration of another Priest who reminded me of Bernadine. Thank God for priests like you, Father.
Thank you for sharing. I've heard so many similar wonderful faith-filled stories about Cardinal Bernadine. We lost him now over 27 years ago, and he is still missed. 🕯🕯🕯
September 25, 2023 What a blessing that we have this opportunity to listen to the Bible and Catechism in a Year. So much to learn even after listening a second time.
September 25, 2023 Round Two Have you ever considered listening to Saint Faustina’s Diary in a year and/or EWTN Mother Angelica’s Classics to add to your Catholic learning? Oh my goodness so much life guidance in conjunction with Father Mike’s Bible and Catechism in a Year!
Day 268 - Tuesday September 24th, 2024. Rebuilding the Temple. Today's readings are Ezra 3-4, Zechariah 1-3, and Proverbs 20:4-7. Thank you so much Father Mike Schmitz 🙏❤💙 God bless you 🙏❤ Deo gratias 🙏❤❤
This is my second time through. I previously have read the Bible through at least twice. The first time through with you I picked up so very much more I didn't know. This time through I continue to pick up many things I missed and bring back things I forgot. Gosh this is so helpful I hope it remains available as K hope to continue each year. God bless you.
Greetings! Today I have been on this journey for a year. While I still have a few months to go and have fallen behind, I march forward. Thank you Lord, for getting me this far. If anybody else has fallen behind, don't be discouraged! Just keep pressing on toward the goal. Praise God and Jesus, we trust in You!
Father, may everything that I do this day, whether it be full of joy or pain, whether it be full of love or of grief, I ask that everything I go through today be offered to you just like Jesus offered everything to you. It is in his name we pray. Amen. 9/24/2024
Wow what an eye opener with the present day of how life has changed. Pearl Harbor happened on a Sunday because the enemy knew we'd be involved with worship and not ready to put up a strong defense so that began forsaking the Lord’s day. Then 911 hit and our traveling regulations were more strict. Then the pandemic hit and our everyday hygiene habits changed. We are so far from our former glory that it's like we have a lesser version of our former lives. Our temple is not as glorious as the former. Our nation is less glorious and forever changed. Blessed is the new generation that doesn't realize how great things were back in the day but as the preacher of Ecclesiastes points out we should not dwell on prior days saying how grand they are and not living in the present for it is vanity and vexation of heart.
I am learning SO MUCH, Fr Mike. My family watched your Masses during the pandemic when all churches were closed, and despite being from Kansas, we "fell in love with you" those years ago! Then when my husband and my daughter, both Catholic school teachers, were encouraged to sign up for Bible in a Year with you last year, they both did, and both loved it. This year, after all my lenten programs were finished, I signed up, starting Easter Monday, but have learned so much that I find I can't stop unless I have a previous engagement. I end up doing 2, 3 or even 4 lessons a day because I'm retired and have just found it so fascinating to finally understand. I'm a convert to Catholicism (age 34) and had tried to read the Bible numerous times, but always got bothered by the "mean" God of the Old Testament and just skipped it and read the "gentler, kinder" God in the New Testament. You've finally helped me understand and appreciate the OT, after 63 years! Thank you so much for BIAY; it has truly changed my life in 3 short months & 269 episodes so far!
This Bible in a year podcast is so, so amazing. This is my 3rd year listening and pressing play each day -- I absolutely love it. The story of God's creation, his people with their faults and their weaknesses and God's constant faithfulness just inspires me! Father Mike brings so much clarity to stories that I have always found confusing. Thank you Father Mike for your amazing insights and commentary!
Thank you Father Mike for sharing the Bible with all of us. It is a true Blessing for us to read, hear and understand the words of our Lord. Praying for Father Mike and anyone who is in need of prayers.
yes. I concur with others on Fr Mike's great podcast. His explanation of the OLD Testament truly brings the New Testament alive + brings healing to our live. god bless Fr. Mike + all.
September 25, 2023 Round Two In her account of another vision, St. Faustina describes Purgatory as a "great crowd of suffering souls" undergoing purification. Further, she says that the souls are "praying fervently, but to no avail, for themselves; only we can come to their aid" (Diary, 20)
I feel like we are in similar times….with the resurgence of the beauty and awe and pure worship of the Latin Mass….worship as God ordained…. Yet perhaps we are not seeing what God is doing in these times….prayers for our Church.
As I scroll through all of the comments of praise to you Father Mike…I prayed for your humility and constant submission to God. This is not about you….this is about your offering your amazing gifts that Gods has given you back to Him. Stay humble. As you said in one of your podcasts… your spiritual director assured you, you are no Thomas Acquinas. I pray for you.
Thank you, Fr. Mike, for doing BIAY. I've read the Bible several times, but with BIAY I have gleaned so much more from it! Thank you, dear Lord, for providing us with Fr Mike, Jeff Cavins, and the entire Ascension team!
Having the time periods match up is great. The “weeping” older people called to mind that as we are in “the Winter of our lives” the realization that many of the hopes and dreams have not happened. Some through no fault of us, Some because of poor choices. The weeping can be happiness for the “good times” and the sadness of the “challenging times”. And then we are reminded this is just a teeny tiny time chunk in our existence. The Joy and Dancing will be our eternity because of “One Day”. I hope we can visit with these weeping people and all of these characters
Thank you Fr. I am so enjoying your Bible in a year. I have been with you since January 3rd. I have been doing Bible reading for many years but this journey has been so enlightening. Thank you. God bless you always. Writing from Barbados.
