Awesome work. I got my 92 free from my sister but back when she had it, it had a screaming high idle regardless of temp. I ended up seeing the upper intake gasket hanging out in a couple spots. I removed that plenum and the gasket was crispy. Cleaned it all up and put a new gasket in and she idled great. The plenum (upper intake) gasket on the 5.0 is notorious for failing.

I have a question for you I have an f150 1992 and the reverse doesn't work when ot get had. Do I need to replace the transmission or is there any kind of band adjustments for this situation? . Thanks
Have u checked the codes? They have digital code readers for the OBD1 port under ur hood at the local auto parts place. Of u can do the paperclip trip. U might have a bad solenoid pack.
so my 94 bronco is idling very high unless i unplug the Idle Air control which Is new along with MAP, TPS , ECT, Distributer Cap, Wires, Fuel Filter, 98 Octane Gas and Air Filter.... Ive thrown every part youtube has told me to thro at it except the one at 9:13 .... What is that called?
@@BerserkerF100 I ran a smoke machine through the system and only place the smoke came out was the tps sensor area and the idle air top vent... I drove it today and now it won't even turn over so it's probably a bigger issue.
Any check engine light? U have a code reader? I bought one at my local auto parts place for like $20 and it's a digital code reader. Pre-1995 use an OBD1 code reader. These trucks will still give a code even if no check engine light is on.
@@BerserkerF100 I had some codes and the guy at the shop cleared the codes but they came right back. After I changed the TPS and the MAP they went off.
Hey im wondering if you can helo me out i have a 94 5.8 with high idle when the truck warms up and when in high idle the shifts are terrible any idea what it could be?
Have u checked for any vacuum leaks? U know how when the throttle opens up, it revs the engine? That's because the more air that's allowed into the in, the higher the engine will rev. That's exactly how a vacuum leak acts. It's allowing more air to go into the engine, thus making the engine rev higher (high idle).
@@BerserkerF100 I have same problem on my bronco 1987 4.9300 in line six but I can’t not find that purge solinode I go to that junk yard and look on a same engine and don’t have that no we’re supost one plastic line come from that thank and that other going to That intake upper that’s were supost to ve that purge solinoide but lines don’t have nothing
@@Purozamachihue-don't look specifically at the solenoid. Look for a vacuum leak somewhere. Your high idle will be from getting "extra" air into the intake.

My 96 4.9 will idle at 900 probably 90% of the time seems high then will kinda miss like it wants to cut out but only does it once a week for a couple minutes or if hitting the throttle in 2nd gear it acts real sluggish nobody can figure it out other then that its a great truck real clean
Man, that's weird. High idle is mostly associated with vacuum issues or an issue with the ECT sensor going bad. That sensor, when going bad, does all types of voodoo on these trucks. But seems like it's a vacuum issue to me bc when u hit the throttle in 2nd it bogs down, like if it's not getting enough or the right mixture of air and fuel to make it run right. I usually go to a pull a part yard and buy a hand full of sensors for cheap and test them on my truck with them. They'll run like $2 each. Or buy a new one sometimes for $45. (Get where I'm going?) The ECMs in the 4.9L trucks are known to go bad. Hit and miss kinda thing...
@@BerserkerF100 Thanks for the info. I was also told try a MAP also. I just need to spend more time under the hood probably spray it down again look for vacuum leaks these old Ford have so much crap under the hood they don't need!
Yes they do, like the smog system. U can check the MAP sensor just by unplugging the vacuum hose. If there's a change in the RPMs, it's still good. Good luck...👍And let me know if u get it.
