I seem to recall that Aragorn also remarked that dragging Gollum back from Mordor was the most unpleasant experience he ever had. So of course, who wouldnt want to see it on the silver screen?
Holy cow, I watched that "the Hunt for Gollum" fan fiction film years ago. As soon as you said the name of the new movie I thought "that's already a fan fiction film", and then of course you immediately say the same thing 😅 That fan fiction film was kind of entertaining, but also just felt like something pretending to be LOTR. Kind of like that new LOTR show.
I think the actors from the Peter Jackson films must have been too, because many of their voices and mannerisms are eerily similar. But I'm OK with that, because Rob Inglis' performance was fantastic!
I suppose we should be grateful Christopher Tolkien was as faithful a steward of his father's work for as long as he was around. Most IPs don't even get that much of a buffer.
I LOVE your content, brother but David Zaslav did not put the first dune directly to streaming. That was the previous WB administration that made that decision in late 2020 for all WB films in calendar 2021.
Not inherently a Zaslav supporter but I think some information should be corrected. Zaslav wasn't the executive that tarnished the relationship with Denis Villeneuve and Christopher Nolan. Dune Part 1 was released in theaters on Oct 22, 2021 with the decision to release it on Max decided months before. Warner Bros at the time, was owned by AT&T and was not purchased by Discovery until April 8, 2022, a little under six months after the release of the film. The same goes for Tenet, which was released on Sep 3, 2020, over a year before Dune Part 1 was release and over a year and half before Zaslav had anything to do with the company. Blaming Zaslav for these sins is irresponsible and misleading.
A couple of things about the upcoming films. One Peter Jackson and his team are returning. This is a positive even with the Hobbits in view. Peter Jackson wasn't originally attached to the hobbits in fact much of the first film was already well into production when the studio fired Guillermo Del Toro. While I agree the hobbit should have been one film there was a lot going on and if you watch the behind the scenes it was still a trilogy crafted with care and upon repeated viewing is much better than the last decade of most Hollywood slop. Does that mean the upcoming movies will be good? No, but I sure would rather have Peter Jackson involved instead whoever they have running the show at Amazon. Now if Zaslav can stay out of the way and let Peter Jackson do what he wants I think he has earned the right to have the benefit of the doubt. While LOTR had its flaws it is still the greatest trilogy in cinematic history. So for now wait and see...
Shocker... the "Tomatometer" ranks trash exceedingly higher than the real world rates it. They would be wise to just display the Audience score, alone.
Last year, a terrible video game was released: _The Lord of the Rings: Gollum._ I'm not a big LotR aficionado, having read just "The Hobbit," played a view video games, and I've only viewed each of the six films once. Even then, my first thought upon hearing about this game was how inappropriate it was to make any story centered around Gollum. In my view, he's not a protagonist. His purpose in the saga was to serve as a counterpoint to all the wizards and kings and heroes and villains hunting for the One Ring to use it for their grand designs. Now, to hear a film will be made about him? The entertainment industry to has continuously to release new "content" to stay in business, and this cyclical content churn means every beloved piece of culture will eventually be violated. I'm staying away from every single one of these new LotR productions.
If Peter Jackson makes something with Lord of the Rings, he can do whatever he wants, because he just did everything right. His work, passion and dedication, also of his whole team was just great. And Andy Serkis involvement also as a co-director was just great in the Hobbit-movies, his reading of the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit audiobooks are just awesome. And in the light of this horrible abomination made by Amazon, everything Peter Jackson does is pure gold, even if he films a compilation documentary about different styles of Pooping in Middle-Earth. I have the feeling, even though I often agree with the movienerd nagging TH-cam channels, I fear this content is expected to be nagging, so they are just nagging about anything now. That is boring. However the new Warner Bros. head makes me cringe.
Of WB let's Jackson cook and the title is the action of the main character (Aragorn) and gullom gets sparse screen time. This might actually be good. I will not hold to hope though, it has abandoned these lands.
Im not optimistic in the age of DEI and ESG. And yes I do think the topic of the movie and them milking the LOTR is something to nag about. Nothing really wrong with the video.
You can be sure that whoever is pushing these spin offs is not a Tolkien fan. If he was, he wouldn't have anything to do with this garbage. Was "The Hobbit" really a trilogy? I didn't make it but about half an hour into the first one before I turned it off. It departed from the source material too much.
"It's a bad sign when the source material is telling you this is a waste of time." lol!
“Seen here watching an orc chop down a tree” killed me
They really missed a crossover opportunity with my 1000 lb Sister Wives
I seem to recall that Aragorn also remarked that dragging Gollum back from Mordor was the most unpleasant experience he ever had. So of course, who wouldnt want to see it on the silver screen?
Serkis’ reading of LOTR is damn good. Just throwing that out there.
Agreed.
Fantastic
It could be worse: Netflix could commission Greta Gerwig to reboot the Chronicles of Narnia as a secular feminist hagiography.
"no, that doesn't sound right" 😂😂😂
Best joke in the bit.
watch it again 2:10
UPDATE: The Hunt for Gollum fan film appears to have been restored. I saw it recommended alongside this video.

Warner bros: if it ain't broke, fix it.
Thank you for another great video. Do you have a means where we can support you directly? Or is a Canon+ subscription the best option?
Thank you for asking. Subbing to Canon+ is the best way to help support and grow the show.
Doesn’t Zaslav know that if you go after LOTR, you anger the Christians?
That's exactly why he's doing it.
Lord of the Onion Rings?
👊🤣x3
Lol, the most hated man in Hollywood. And that's in a category where there's some seriously stiff competition.
1:07 WHOA... is Mel trying to audition for Wolfman 2, or is it the full moon?
Mel Gibson is one of those actors whose appearance is genuinely intimidating and a bit scary.
@@switzerlandful Pfft.
great stuff wade! you don't need your hands to do all that work though, your script is strong enough.
I really liked the LOR audio books.
I think the actors from the Peter Jackson films must have been too, because many of their voices and mannerisms are eerily similar. But I'm OK with that, because Rob Inglis' performance was fantastic!
👐👏Thank you
Fun book, you should read it.

Every piece of successful media you love will be dug up and commercialized until it's unrecognizable slop. They're out of ideas.
Is Gorg Turkington going to end up right?
I didn't watch the Amazon show. But I'm going to conclude from what I've read and snippets I've seen that this movie cannot be worse than that.

Well now society having gone completely off the rails, art will emulate life like ticks on a heifer
As a fan of the original lotr, everything else is noise. They're "star wars-ing" 😭😭😭
Never watched an episode of Rings of Power. You can't make me watch this trash either.
Shocker... the "Tomatometer" ranks trash exceedingly higher than the real world rates it. They would be wise to just display the Audience score, alone.
Yes, they would, but I’m glad they don’t. The Agenda on full display.

“Everything woke turns to 💩” - Donald Trump, August 2021
Just gonna say, Lord of the Rings became less enjoyable to watch as Everquest became less popular to play.
