    We ended up exchanging this model for the slimmer version th-cam.com/users/postUgkx0jZ_lGlDVJhDnmagEU8gn47cmfPNlLQU because it was too wide for the only door trim area that made sense to mount it on. However, we should have just noted the dimensions prior to purchasing. Otherwise, we love the doorbell. It works perfectly, and the video is very clear, even at night.

    Thanks for the valuable & thorough review! It’s really one the best reviews I certainly benefited from. I just got 2 questions please:
    1: I plan to use this lock for my vacation property abroad in Turkey. Therefore, I hope it won’t be an issue if I won’t be using it too often. Because I’m not always there, I have no wifi inside this home. I currently have a bluetooth enabled lock which supports fingerprints and numerical passcodes. It works fine and does not require wifi as long as someone is physically there and has either a passcode or access to the lock app.
    If I get this lock, will these features I enjoyed before with my older lock remain functional, even without wifi? (If there’s bluetooth perhaps..)
    2: My vacation home is located in a community apartment complex. The complex recently installed a wonderful smart security system for building entry which doesn’t rely on internet from tenant homes, but a newly installed cheap internal internet system we started paying for on a monthly basis. With this system, I can see the building door entry area anytime using the live camera, unlock building door for anyone to enter at anytime, regardless where I am located..
    Is there some sort of internal internet that I can utilize besides having to install an active internet subscription in my vacation home?
    Thanks

    Hi, thank you for the review video, and your reply to other viewers’ questions. I have looked thru those comments but didn’t see anyone asked my question yet😂 could you please let me know if this lock allow us to communicate with the person ring the doorbell, like the ring doorbell product. I doubt it since I have been watching many review about this product but no one mentions that feature yet. However, I really appreciate if you could confirm it. Again, thanks for your time.

    This This Smart House video sold me. However, I wish it mentioned the fact that the camera does not look down and therefore you can't see if a package is at the door. Delivery person is chest and head at the door and full bodied ~ 3 feet out. In a condo hallway it is possible to walk down the hallway stop before the camera -grab a packet and retreat. Of course no one would do that. I installed this 3-in-1 yesterday and found it very easy and the software to be straight forward. Looking forward to the 4-in-1 with the dual camera facing down.

    • @ThisSmartHouse
      @ThisSmartHouse  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Chris. I did mention the fact that the camera is stuck and can't be moved. My main complaint is that my door frame takes up 1/4 of my view. But one advantage is that the dual motion detection should pick up any motion even if they are not directly in frame. Hopefully catching a piece of the porch pirate.
      I really hope they update it with swivel camera. But I still love the lock. I am still waiting for the dev of the Home Assistant integration to support it. That will be a game changer!

    Decent video. A quick tip, its hard to follow instruction videos when there are a lot of cuts away from the meat of the install.
    Like 5 - 7min mark should only be your voiceover the install video.
    Also, no need to split-screen when showing the settings... its reducing the important content on the screen.

    I’m in the market for a complete front door knob and dead bolt lock, similar to this and an extra camera. I have 2 front door light fixtures with gfi outlets where a camera will go. The other thing is I have a storm door. The frame would block video until someone opens it. What do you recommend. Prices isn’t a huge concern. Something close to brushed silver on the metal park of the door handle.

    • @ThisSmartHouse
      @ThisSmartHouse  ปีที่แล้ว

      If your lock will be blocked by a storm door, then maybe look for a separate smart lock and then ether add a camera (with AC power you can use anything). You could do a doorbell cam or any camera connected to your AC power (Wyze, Eufy, ReoLink, etc).
      For the lock, what hubs or technologies do you have (Zwave, Zigbee, etc). Before this lock I was using the Schlage dead bolt (Z-wave). It comes in many different colors. They also make a lever handle version. Eufy has a few smart locks as well (without a camera). Let me know a little bit more about your requirements and I would be happy to help. I remember about a year ago when they first came out with this thing it was sort of a crowdfunded deal and it was fairly cheap at the time and I was really interested in it but after some investigation into it it seems I couldn't integrate it into home assistant so that was kind of something I wasn't interested in after that, but it's generally a good idea though the whole thing in one unit

    • @ThisSmartHouse

      I looked into the integration and I would say it is coming soon. There is already a Eufy security community integration that works great for my HomeBase 3. They said they are working on this product.

    During winter my door gets stuck. Is it worth getting this if I might have to use the key during that season? I can see myself getting really annoyed having to remove the cover to access the keyhole. I would also be afraid that the cover will break off. What do you think?

    • @ThisSmartHouse
      @ThisSmartHouse  ปีที่แล้ว

      Is it the door that gets stuck or the deadbolt? I just installed a new lock for a friend and their deadbolt stuck constantly. I swapped it out with a larger strike on the inside.
      If the door gets stuck but the lock can turn, then you shouldn't have any issues. If the deadbolt gets jammed, then you might want to fix that before buying any smart lock. You are going to get a lot of jams and run the battery down.
      Hope that answers your question!

    I just found your channel so might be good to post some basic updates about this so that people like me don't find your stuff and immediately assume you're just here to farm clicks vs provide honest info.

      Unfortunately if I posted about every news story coming out about each brand I talk about that's all I would end up posting about.
      As far as the specific security considerations for Eufy, Rob over at the hookup did it good analysis of the actual impact of what it means. I am no expert on the specifics of how each company does their user data storage. But I have worked in device manufacturing and I understand the limitations of cloud providers security versus speed and ease of use.
      Now specifically on Eufy, do I think the whole response was handled poorly? Probably. Would I call it willfully misleading customers? Probably not.
      Personally, I live by the mantra that unless I control 100% of where the data is I don't fully own it. So if I was super concerned about somebody getting access to my cameras then I wouldn't have a cloud-based subscription.
      I think the security researchers did exactly what they were supposed to do which was create a lot of chatter around how Eufy were doing things versus what they were saying. But unfortunately in the world we live in that's about as good as we're going to get. If there's public outcry hopefully company modifies their business practices or corrects any issues.
      I think when the initial reports came out many channels had a knee-jerk reaction to vilify the company, drop them, etc. But I think after the dust settled and people actually looked at what was happening it's very common around the industry and it wasn't as big as it once looked.
      I could probably write on the subject for quite a long time but....
      What questions do you have? What specific concerns about your data security do you still have?
      I am interested to see what other people outside of the product design world think.
      Thanks!

      @@ThisSmartHouse I totally understand that many topics can "blow up" but it's pretty easy to see Eufy is a very different situation:
      1) It was confirmed and proven multiple times over that you could watch video streams from their cameras without encryption. And with a little effort, you could access camera feeds that weren't your own.
      2) The company directly denied this was possible, flat out lying to customers and media throughout the entire ordeal.
      3) They advertised heavily the security and privacy and "anti cloud" design of their devices only to be clearly and publicly proven that was all false.
      To summarize, they lied to everyone, falsely advertised their products in a HUGE way, and handled the backlash in about the worst way possible. Unfortunately we live in a world/country where consumers are generally extremely ignorant and corporations are widely free to lie, cheat, and steal within millimeters of the legal boundary with no regard to morality.

    It sucks that this has so many features as that bypass lock makes them all irrelevant. It can literally be bumped open by an amateur.

      At least you get a good picture of the person trying to break into your house. I mean no residential lock is really that secure. Especially when you can just break a window and get right in. You could always block the key way with epoxy if you really wanted to.

    Not sure I trust them. I have 2 wonderful cameras, unfortunately strongly cloud based. Also really don't work well with HA, I spent days trying. They limit the amount of streaming time. Grin to save them money 🤑🤑.
    Plus will only truly focus on Matter products unless cheap.

      Which cameras do you have? I know they limit the battery cams to save battery.
      Which integration are you using?

      Great review. Sorry if I missed it. But does it also link with the homebase3?

      They said that there is an update coming soon to allow it to record to the home base 3. It was supposed to be out end of November but I haven't seen anything yet.

    Very disappointing that you did not show night time video.
    Is this maybe because it’s sucks at night mode? And this being a free camera sent to you by eufy for free and don’t want to much negative????
    You should have done night videos of this and sound.

    • @ThisSmartHouse
      @ThisSmartHouse  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you are truly asking how the night time performance is, it is good just like most cameras in the same class. This lock is still installed on my front door and performs just great.
      But it sounds like you came to my channel with an already formed opinion. Do you own one and just don't like the performance? Or are you just trolling videos?
      If you have a question or if you think I forgot something feel free to ask. But if you are going to come over here and throw out accusations, then please go else where. It will save everyone some time.

    This device does sound good but with no disrespect to you but my brain hurts after listening to you,1: you talk way too fast.2: the way you edited the video it appears you don't take a breath. so it's hard to take in anything you have explained.

    • @ThisSmartHouse
      @ThisSmartHouse  ปีที่แล้ว

      Well as I explain to most people it's a trade-off. We have to keep retention times up while also getting through information quickly. I have taken feedback from folks and slowed down a tad. I've also tried to add some more natural pauses in the editing.
      Check out one of my more recent videos and let me know if you seen an improvement.
