Consider prior to punching the holes gluing on 2 patch kits (one on each side) then punching the hole (now through 4 layers of fabric). This may help mitigate future fabric tear/ripping and the absence of factory re-inforced stitching at the new grommet locations.
We have our Kodiak vestibule too and we had to ad the extra grommets too. We love our Kodia canvas with vestibule. We also got the top cover to protect the top of the tent. Good video.
Particularly where the zipper pull has to be pulled thru a bend, corner of the tent door. I find myself taking extra caution when moving or rather guiding the zipper tab through the zipper track as it bends around the door. So far so good after 7 years heavy use, now over 400 nights in the Kodiak tent. However, I keep the zipper clean & dry lubricated often.

good suggestion. Afterwards taking the tent-awning to a canvas (sail) repair shop, that is what they did to fix the problem.

Yes, new top cover is great. Just used one for 1st time this October. In cold weather, the new topper help keeps the tent warmer, retaining more heat.
Door zipper failed after the first year using our flex bow. Great tent, but the door zippers are not adequate to handle the tension it is under.
