The Emperor's Barge, known as the 'Imperator Somnium' was as big as one of Holy Terra's sub orbital plates. Stop giving crap to the Ultramarines without a doubt their actions have saved the Imperium multiple times thorugh faith as blind as a bat albeit their adherence to the codex will be their demise because many chapters who know the Codex Astartes have fallen they know every maneuver in the book and every counter maneuver. Might wanna work on your sentence construction. Also, the Ultramarines didn't do shit up until the first Tyrannic war. During the Horus Heresy they got led around the nose by the Word Bearers, their shit kicked in by the World Eaters when they finally managed to catch up to Lorgar, then got led around AGAIN by the Alpha Legion and arguably couldn't even determine Alpharius from some random marine. Then to top it all off, Guiliman pretty much gets gibbed by Fulgrim. Let's face facts here, the Ultramarines ain't that bright.

This happened during a Only War roleplay session where Black Templars (played by the GM) have given the idea to the officers of the Imperial Guard to abandon the civilians of a hive world because he saw them as "unworthy and a waste of time of their habilities and resources" against Dark Eldar raiders. My character ( a Colonel-Sniper of a regiment created by me, the Gunmetallican Longbolters, a infiltration and sniper regiment) was so pissed with that that he slapped the Black Templar Captain in the face, and the rest happened as follows: BTC:"Do you dare to raise your hands against a Servant of the Emperor?" Me:"No, Space Marine, I dare raise my hands against a sociopath who is so full of arrogance and hubris to the point he had forgotten to what reason he is fighting for!" BTC:"You know nothing of my of Duty, weakling!" Me:"I cannot be a superhuman soldier, Astartes, but I know more of Duty then you could even perceive in your entire existence!" BTC:"They are civilians! If they cannot fight for themselves they are unworthy of our help!" Me:"So, why the Emperor had fought for the Unification of Terra? Why He fought the Great Crusade? Why created the Primarchs and Space Marines? Why He created you? Why, even today, are we fighting for? For Honor? Glory? Medals? Odes for our feats of battle? No, Astartes! The Star destroyer may be bigger,but the typical Imperial ship carries more weaponry per square foot.
Actually the "Dauntless"-Class Light Cruiser, the most widespread Imperial vessel is about 4.5 km in length. That equals to three Imperial-Class Star Destroyers.
180791sanguinius Battle Barges are big, maybe 1 or 2 used by each Space Marine Chapter. And if we're going by Great Crusade standards, the Gloriana class Battle Barges used by each Primarch were huge at 14km on average. Roboute Guilliman's, the 'Macragge's Honour' was 20km in length. The Emperor's Barge, known as the 'Imperator Somnium' was as big as one of Holy Terra's sub orbital plates. The pilots had to steer the Somnium very carefully when entering Ullanor's atmosphere for fear of destabilising the natural weather system.

Also, the Ultramarines didn't do shit up until the first Tyrannic war. During the Horus Heresy they got led around the nose by the Word Bearers, their shit kicked in by the World Eaters when they finally managed to catch up to Lorgar, then got led around AGAIN by the Alpha Legion and arguably couldn't even determine Alpharius from some random marine. Then to top it all off, Guiliman pretty much gets gibbed by Fulgrim.

This happened during a Only War roleplay session where Black Templars (played by the GM) have given the idea to the officers of the Imperial Guard to abandon the civilians of a hive world because he saw them as "unworthy and a waste of time of their habilities and resources" against Dark Eldar raiders. My character ( a Colonel-Sniper of a regiment created by me, the Gunmetallican Longbolters, a infiltration and sniper regiment) was so pissed with that that he slapped the Black Templar Captain in the face, and the rest happened as follows:
BTC:"Do you dare to raise your hands against a Servant of the Emperor?"
Me:"No, Space Marine, I dare raise my hands against a sociopath who is so full of arrogance and hubris to the point he had forgotten to what reason he is fighting for!"
BTC:"You know nothing of my of Duty, weakling!"
Me:"I cannot be a superhuman soldier, Astartes, but I know more of Duty then you could even perceive in your entire existence!"
BTC:"They are civilians! If they cannot fight for themselves they are unworthy of our help!"
Me:"So, why the Emperor had fought for the Unification of Terra? Why He fought the Great Crusade? Why created the Primarchs and Space Marines? Why He created you? Why, even today, are we fighting for? For Honor? Glory? Medals? Odes for our feats of battle? No, Astartes! We fight to protect Mankind! And when I talk of Mankind, I talk ALL OF IT! It doesn't matter if they are of the Adeptus Mechanicus, the Administratum or the Adeptus Ministorum. I dont care if they live in a Feral or Hive world. I don't give a shit if they venerate the Emperor as the Sun or as an Avenging Angel. I care nothing if they are common stock, Ogryn or Ratling. And I don't give a fuck if they are soldiers or civilians. All that I care is that they are HUMANS! And really I don't know about your Duty, but when I joined the Guard, I've made an oath to the Emperor that I would - nay, I MUST! - protect Mankind with all of my strength, and with my blood and life if necessary. If you do not care about the civilians, well, FUCK YOU! My Duty is to protect THEM, because they are the ones who make the food, bulid the weapons, vehicles and ships that the Guard, Navy and YOU use! They are the ones who build monuments, art and the poems making homage to YOU! If you cannot show at least a MINIMUM OF RESPECT FOR THEIR WORK AND DIGNITY, then all what the Emperor have made, all of what He fought, sacrificed and dreamed for ALL MANKIND, would be for nothing! Now, "gentlemen", if you excuse me, I'll be doing my Duty, protecting the "unworthy" civilians, because I cannot even trust a fucking superhuman soldier to do the fucking job!"
My character left the room, arranged the regiment to defend the civilians, and after a gruesome battle saved them, but my character died fighting the Dark Eldar leader. All the players have even cried manly tears in the funeral, and my regiment gained the enmity of the Black Templars ever since.
