- So it's finally here! Season 2 of Big Hero 6: The Series is finally over and it's even worse than I thought it would be... And I'm sure people will still hate me for this one.

I hate the "logic" of people who say 'supervillians only exist because superheroes exist', that's like saying criminals only exist because police exist or fires only exist because fire fighters exist.
Usually villains are villains for the sake of their own gain, but i wont lie and say there haven’t been times when the “hero” turned some random people to the side of villainy

I haven't seen the show, but... Don't supervillains think of themselves as heroes? So why would they go after heroes just for the sake of it at all? Makes even less sense if you think about it

Good point on the villains thinking they are heroes. It was drawn out well on characters like Guys in White (Danny Phantom), Huntsmen (American Dragon: Jake Long), Captain Kangaroo & Captain Nemesis (Ben 10 original series), Thanos (Avengers series), The Seven (The Boys comic & tv series), Lex Luther (Superman series), Spear Hero (Shield Hero series) and so many others.
Your right. Villains only attack heroes only if they interfering or stopping their master plan. Hard Light challenge makes only sense to me that wants to win in life and getting back at Krei. Don't know why they replaced him with Obake's robotic daughter, that's a cop out to me.

Season Two: 'two' is an accurate name. It's both the second season and two seasons crammed into one. Imagine making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, then slapping half of that sandwich onto a spinach burrito. That's season two: a decent first arc that affects zilch in the second, much more disjointed, arc.
Funny thing is: I liked season one. Not all of it, but the season as a whole kept to one main plotline, set up that plotline, and knocked it down in a clean sweep of a finale. Yet season two threw all of that out the window after the first half, and if the third season is the same, I have a feeling it can get a lot, lot worse.

Yeah i was really confused when after the Diane incident I saw more episodes of season 2 I think they just should've made it season 3 and focused on adding more episodes about the characters background in the episodes that they had extra to do that in.
and then season 3 came out... they just didn't have a plotline this time...
For all the problems with Big Hero 6 the series, this makes me appreciate the movie more. The series has such potential and could've been better

I found Chief Cruz’s reason for hating superheroes stupid. Yes, I understand him being upset over losing his dad due to Boss Awesome being too late, but that somehow causes him to hate superheroes and only see them as vigilantes? And the way he changed his mind on a dime when his daughter Megan was in danger? It was rushed. However, I did like the first half of Season 2.
Chief Cruz sounds basically like J. Jonah Jameson without any of the charm or anything that makes him a good character
I agree with you on Trollhunters, when I first saw the trailer for the show, I didn’t think I’d like it all that much, but when I finally did see it I realized how wrong I was, because that show is AWESOME!

The cops theory of no heroes = no villains falls flat when you consider the Powerpuff Girls movie already had The Gang Green Gang and Fuzzy causing trouble .
I think the worst part about Diane is that she could've had so much potential to be a interesting and complex villain. What I think should have happened is that Diane should've been created before Liv got sick as part of the project, after she was created the two would grow close to have a sisterly bond, with Diane being the only one supportive of her and even encouraged her to continue her project (though it was for good attentions). However it would of course lead to Liv's health rapidly declining cause of it and force to be kept in stasis, leaving Diane to believe it was her fault that she caused Liv to suffer and determined to find a cure for her. She will of course pose as Liv not only to keep the real Liv's reputation safe, but also try to do some experiments to find a cure. At first she and her assistant work for a cure the safest way possible but as the season goes on and Liv's health worsens, Diane grows more desperate and starts to not only work with villains but out of desperation turns Karmi into a monster in order to get Hiro's help (though its clear she feels remorseful after it). After Hiro saves Liv's life, Diane doesn't betray him like in the show, instead she's genuinely grateful for Hiro's help, but before she can turn Karmi back to normal, either one of the monsterised villians attack them or her assistant betrays her and tries to take over the city. You could even have it where the assistant is actually Trina in disguise, who was using Diane's desperation to make a army of both robots and monsters, in tern setting her up as the true main villain better
If they went with that Diane could've been a complex and even tragic character, where you can understand why she makes the choices she makes and you can almost sympathise with her. Like there could have been a moment in the Christmas episode where she visits Liv still in stasis and just talks to her about everything, how Diane believes she isn't worthy for Liv's legacy, and how conflicted she is working with villians and putting others in danger in order to help her

@@orangesocks5385 My thinking so far would be reworking Di to be a lot closer to Mr Freeze; the monsters are a by-product of her desperation to find a cure. Similarly, I have a few ideas for how to fix the 'Hiro takes his suit off' scene.
@@thomasoates3003 That's what I was thinking too. Make Di likable-- someone peppy and cheerful who loves the spotlight, but is so desperate to get funding that she does deals involving the monsters behind closed doors. Either that or the monsters are the result of her testing a cure.

I agree. Everything was doing well until they decided to rush it.
1. Villains were kinda wasted. Nega Globby, High Voltage, Baron Von Steamer, roller skating villains and Obake are good antagonists. The other villains felt rush, they shouldn't at least ask fans like make a villain like a Kappa, Oni, real kaijus and etc. Fredzilla rival shouldn't be Kong-like villain or banshee-like villainess for Wasabi. Oh wait, they choose tv host and El Fuego. Just no.
2. Animation was okay.
3. Filler episodes, if you are going to create a filler. Make one with purpose.
4. Dumb cops trope. Not every cops is a idiot. Commissioner Gordon is a good cop of Batman. This cop of the show reason why villains are calling him out on his obliviousness of the true heroes
5. Passing on morals. It's kinda off putting or barely make senses.
6.Climax episode. Oh good, rushed again.
7. Secret Identity? What's that.

I watch the season 1 and I felt betrayed. Ben 10 Reboot is now joke and fans telling to stop making this because is insulting to kids. Kids do like superheroes and humor. But, they don't being mock like babies.
The cheap animation part you mention. Yeah, there is. Except, it's on TH-cam and Netflix. Wow, not really trying. I gave up all hope for the show.
I like the intention behind Chief Cruz. His idea of an singular authoritative presence naturally drawing those who seek the reputation for being the one to destroy it, similar to All Might in MHA. While I can't make a case for Yama, you can argue that Big Hero 6's arrival really spiked up the number of supervillains in San Fransokyo.
The execution of Chief Cruz is flawed tho, but that's the case for a lot of the cast. I also like the intention behind Karmi, but her execution was also very flawed.
Speaking of Gogo and Honeylemon, Rapunzel and Cassandra's friendship in Rapunzel's tangled adventures is 10 times better than those two in the show. Great review.
Lizafoot For5 I’m sorry but as a fan of tangled I have to say this no no it isn’t in fact cassandra and rapunzel friendship is even worse since for some weird reason the writers decided to make casandra into gothels daughter and have her blame and shame rapunzel for quote on quote stealing her mothers love when she herself barely remembers her and she herself should know that rapunzel was emotionally abused and taken away from her family also gothel was the reason for Eugene to almost die so yeah casandras motivations just suck

Goddamn, it was so fucking easy to make Diana a good character by not making her a villain at all just just having her plans to save her creator be constantly ruined by villains and maybe even by the fucking heroes too! I mean, that'll make her *far* more likable and even sympathetic like a tragic hero of sorts. But alas, incompetence hot the better of them...

I liked the movie, it had heart, and even dared to kill someone off. The cartoon show though, ugh. It insta-solves every little problem, so there are no real stakes. Quite often the solution was offered in the very same episode, right at the beginning to telegraph exactly how it was going to go down. And I long for the day where bad guys don't have an English (British) accent. There are other choices out there in the world, like how about someone local to the area who grew up around there to actually fit in with the narrative, instead of someone from a completely different land being there just because?

Ok, it’s taken me a few days, and all the points you have raised, are valid. I will not deny that, but I will not deny my love for this show either. Personally I thought they were gearing up pretty well in this season at first, but even I knew the ending was pretty bad. That said, I can’t take my attention away from the part you mentioned about Hiro removing his suit at the end. In many aspects, your right, it’s pretty stupid, however in my eyes, it doesn’t matter too much, cause his suit sucks anyways. He literally could’ve given himself whatever power, and he opted for f##king magnetism. His suit would have protected him from injury at most, which is just glorified armour at that point.
I sympathize with you. This show needs new writers. Also, if they want to use Tadashi, bring him back from the dead.
But the entire point of the movie was hiro coming to terms with Tadashi's death. What would bringing him back accomplish besides shitting on the movie even more than the show already does?
I've been putting off watching this for a while because...well, I love the show! But out of boredom, I decided to watch it, and you know what...it's actually pretty good!
You've raised a lot of good points about the show: I personally think that the Season 2 finale, while nice with the graduation, was also a bit rushed. In fact, some parts of this show are also rushed, particularly in the finales of...well, the Fugitive, and City of Monsters arc.
With how the 3rd season is going...well, I'm willing to bet you might not like it.
That said, even though I still LOVE the show, your video is pretty good, and it has a lot of points and criticisms that I believe are fair. Well done!
(P.S. With all this in mind: on the astronomically slim chance Disney allows me to do a sequel/soft-reboot to the film, I might take these criticisms to heart and...well, do stuff...)
What I Hate the most of this show doesn't take itself seriously and that unlike the movie all the villian aren't threatning or smart or terrifying, there just too god damn childish, even the movies villian wasn't even that memorable but he is a least a solid villian and why can't they have terrifying robot villains with badass weaponary and badass animated fights but instead we get burger bot whyy
I absolutely love the movie but the show is definitely disappointing. I originally started watching it just because I wanted to see more of the story and characters, but there was pretty much nothing added. It was still somewhat entertaining, but it felt like it was trying to just be just another kids show instead of the actual sequel to the movie like it was originally supposed to be. I really wish they would make an actual movie sequel, because I really do like the characters, story, and the whole universe that the movie created. Also I feel like you should’ve mentioned the fact that Hiro was able to stop monster Karmi by saying that she was his friend and he cared about her after they had like one good moment literally the same day after hating eachother. Idk that whole episode was really rushed and not put together. Plus the characters seem to stray farther from who they originally were in the movie as the show progresses
I was rewatching and I meant to comment on the whole school/superhero parts but I forgot. I didn't really watch the show, only like 2 episodes, so I don't know whether or not these supposed college students were accurately balancing their school life and superhero life. Since they're in a science college, you would think they'd have stressful, difficult science projects that would blend badly with their superhero life. Like Hiro is working on a project that's due in 3 days (no procrastination), he's already tired and draining but is still working, but suddenly he's called in to fight, when the fighting finishes, he's so tired he doesn't even make it to his bed.
Judging by what you said in your video about how they barely care about being superheros (except Hiro), how they have no character (no "accurate" character for teens/adult college characters), and how they aren't seen getting actual diplomas during graduation...eugh...Like did all of their school stuff just get skipped over completely??? Or the longer they're in school, they develop new skills in science they can use as techniques to fighting!!
It's ridiculous because this show had potential but it was trying to be less mature than the movie. The writers can't ignore that these characters are still "human" and that they go through difficult life shit. What a drag...

Ya know, that bit where you explained how Chief Cruz would had been better if he becomes a villian is a hell of a lot better: i know because I wrote that in my own Big hero 6 fanfic. Its basically a rewrite of the show with my own ocs, and I knew watching chief cruz, he was better off becoming a villain.
Also, I'm gonna send this video to the two creators and basically slap them in the face about this.
I want to be an animator and writer so I could write movies/cartoons that mean something or at least is fun and wholesome. Basically the exact opposite of what we're getting lately.
A big thing for every aspiring writer is to listen to criticism and learn what you did wrong, not mock them (unless said reviews were just baseless shit)
In other words, shut and listen, take notes, remove ideas that don't work, and put effort into your work
I treat my fanfiction, Big Hero 7, with respect and care because I love the show and I wanted to write something about what I loved.
There's nothing more insulting about a horrible series than to see two senior writers, who should know better, plug their ears and stubbornly keep Karbitch and their worst tropes.

Holy shit you're still liking comments to this day. I think the writers put little effort into the show because it's completely overshadowed by shows like the Owl House, Amhphibia and Gravity Falls, so the writers don't see a point in improving. It's just a theory put that's honestly what I think why this show is so lazy. Also CellSpex opened my eyes to the "we used to hate each other, but now we're in love because we weren't at each others fucking throats for a couple moments" trope, and why it's stupid, and this show seems to want to pull this trope. Honestly I'm more dissapointed than angry.

fred- deadpool like seriosly deadpool but NOT DIRTY
baymax- same as the baymax in movie
Obake- needs to be more sinister and insane and darker background story

I would throw a lot of hate sand at you, but no. Honestly, yes, I like the movie Big Hero 6, but the series is way below its level or worse still, it's terrible I would say. In the second season it seemed pretty silly to create monsters when in the movie they say that this is not science! He contradicts himself and the worst is not only that. The entire season 3 is a waste. Now the villain is a stupid talking hamburger. I really don't know why no one says anything to the creators of this series. I'm surprised it had season 3
NBB is not big bad material, him being the creators favorite does not make him so. I do agree, the Sycorax arc, while a great storyline for a superhero show in general, goes against the movie, which they explicitly grounded in real-world science. Baymax! could end up ignoring this show. What would help is that there are several errors in Baymax Returns when shots from the end of the film are revisited.
Valid points there, and you actually had ideas which I was kind of hoping we'd get with season 2. I am not a fan of the show but i did find a few stuff to at least like from it despite the cliche animation style, jokes and characters animated shows are getting nowadays. Honestly I stopped watching season 2 after "City of Monsters" because it felt like this season ended there. Not perfect but from what i am gathering from your video at least with part 1 there was at least a building story arc of sorts whilst part 2 it was rushed plots. I don't care about the main characters aside from Hiro and the villains. I actually found Liv (or Diane) Amara to be an interesting concept of a villain but yeah I had the same issues as you with her motivations. Hiro's relationship with Karma could've worked and I was actually starting to like it even it didn't feel rushed or ended so quickly, or just be replaced with a bland replica. And yeah, Cruz could've been an interesting villain (from a point of view) if like you said he went out of control (perhaps even police brutality level) - maybe as a series arc subplot or the plot for season 3 mixed with Trina. Oh there was no need to bring Trina back for the finale and I HAVEN'T EVEN SEEN THE FINALE!
I think I'll stick to watching parts of season 1 or season 2 part 1.

I disagree with you about Cj she is one of the worst regular show characters in my opinion. Let's make a character that super clinginy and turns into thunderstorms when she gets upset. Such a likable character. I like how the ending to Regular Show was realistic.

I barely call season 3 of Big Hero 6 the Series an actual season: it's like they are trying to take a non-existent epilogue composed of nothing but filler that goes nowhere while using Noodle Boy and his posse as an excuse for throwaway villains.

To be fair Hiro taking his suit off against monster Carmi wouldn't have changed much if he left it on. All he has is magnet stuff and it adds protection. Monster Carmi would have been more then enough to capture him in his suit. At best he might been able to slow her down for few seconds maybe. And thats a very big maybe

With regards to the ThunderCats Roar thing, there are times when taking a property and turning it on its head can be legitimate. Reefer Madness was a scare-mongering moral panic mess, but the musical is hilarious. Starship Troopers takes a book that is waaaaay too okay with a militaristic dictatorship (fun fact: the author lived in my community in his later years) and satirizes that. The key here is that the original material should be something that deserves criticism. ThunderCats is harmless, so even if you don't like it, there's no reason to shit all over it. Just like someone else do something with it.
Hell, even if the original material is harmless you can poke fun at its flaws and have it work. The various Lego Star Wars tv series have made countless jokes about all 3 trilogies, but you can tell that they're done purely for the sake of comedy, not out of genuine distaste for the source material. Roar was literally made out of spite against the original (and according to some sources, cause he was trying to get back at his brothers who loved it).
I'm gonna tell my kids that Chief Cruise is James Craig.
If Big Hero 6 The Series were to be a movie, it would be considered one of the worst Disney sequels of all time!

I also feel like people never acknowledge too that great story boarding leads to great animation those two shows story board was basically animation within its self when shows like these don't tend to look great cause the story board isn't that good or detailed, I just thought it was interesting to see how good story boarding leads to great animation when you compare the animation of shows and the story boards they had to work with

I REALLY loved season 1, and frankly im just rewatching that a bunch to heal my eyes from the dumpster fire that is the second half of season 2 (The first half is meh). Im super salty about Trina's character, she had a lot of potential and it was crammed into a finale rather than a good build up.

Idk about anyone else but I actually really hate the show. I love Big Hero 6 the movie but honestly the show is really bad. I’ll admit that I haven’t seen all of the show but from what I have seen, Fred reminds me of Beast Boy from TTG, the villain feels extremely cliche (some guy doing things from the shadows and watching the heroes etc...), and let me just say...I ABSOLUTELY HATE THE BURGER ROBOT KID. I HATE HIM. I HATE HIM SO MUCH.

Ooh, a long review/discussion, I wonder what criticisms it’s gonna hold. And I’m not trying to mock you either, theres a significant lack of BH6 on this platform in my opinion and I like seeing both sides of the people who watch the show. Haven’t gotten like 2 minutes in though and the audio balancing appears to have improved since the last one I saw so good job on that. Now to sit back and enjoy the video

My gosh, I’m half tempted to turn against the show now, and I’m actually starting to remember a lot of the stuff I’m trying to avoid as a writer myself (good thing I haven’t fallen down the rabbit hole of bad writing like this yet). A lot of those criticisms are pretty valid, I’m not gonna lie, but I’m probably still gonna support the show because, well, I still really like it. I wanna have hope that season 3 turns everything around but it might become a case too little, too late, which is how a lot of people feel RWBY is going, but that’s a whole different conversation, unless we really wanna start pulling parallels in writing errors between the two
