Man. I just love your videos, dude. You are like the only guy, that shows useful technical stuff! I am following you since... ugh... a year, before you got hacked? Please continue to create that kind of content for us!
That's great! You still have to know a little something about programming (what block does what), but it's so easy this way. You don't have to worry about code syntax and other issues which arise when you type in the code manually. P.S. Got so excited about this and busted the whole evening making a crude LC calculator :D Works fine! Very basic functionality, but I did few things here and there so it won't throw errors when a user puts a zero pF or nH, or leaves the field empty, or better yet puts a text there instead of numbers
So I'm thinking about making an android app, this would be my first attempt. I have a visual impairment so staring at a computer screen is always going to be difficult, so traditional coding would probably not be my friend, however the blocks I feel like I would be able to do without straining my eyes which is a big deal for me. So this is actually kind of nice to know that there is an option out there it'll be fun to see how it works out, but just knowing the options is always a good thing. So I'm really happy I came across this video since this is a first for me and it will be a learning experience. So thanks for all the information and the video.
Nice video...will definitely explore the MIT apps. Sidebar: I teach college chemistry and would like an app that allows quizzing in both the classroom and lab. Suggestions for what to use (and it really should be for both iPhone and Android (but it has to work for Android...!)? Thanks!
Hey Tinkernut! You make some cool videos, I started making videos myself and am really looking for people to give me some feedback. I'm all ears for anything anyone has to say, but I'd love some advice from somebody successful with hundreds of thousands of views, your doing something right!
you are correct - you still need to know the fundamentals of organizing a series of commands that you want the "machine" to accomplish - what language you use is moot. This is programming. People confuse this process with programming "language" which this app does behind the scenes. THAT LANGUAGE you do not need to "program"
when i get to the "when. afterpicture" block, and i put in the bactounf image block, i get this error... "Error from Companion: java.lang.RuntimeException: invalid syntax in eval form::1:150: call to 'set-and-coerce-property!' has too few arguments (3; must be 4)" can anybody tell me what im doing wrong???
Does the app inventor have a way for you to see the java code (or whatever language it's using) that your app is using? That way, you can make finer changes to it later by editing that code? I know you said this isn't really for professionals, but can it be useful for just starting the basic skeleton of the app and then hand coding it to add the details?
I wouldn't say Java is fun, but I'd sure use that over this GUI nonsense. I think the easiest way would be to get used with HTML5 stuff like Cordova and use that for simple mock-ups. Javascript is just so much more powerful than a GUI yet easy to master.
When I try to install the app, I get the error: MIT App Inventor Tools has been previously installed for all users. Please restart the install with Administrator privileges. It is being installed on Firefox. Please advise.
I want to make an app for note taking for college cuz tablet is much smaller than laptop but I didn't find any good apps for notes that support Cornell method or something like that so I will make one for me. I have a little programing experience but not for mobile apps
after finishing the blocks i tried to take a picture from phone but it started to show an error the operation background colour cannot accept the arguments....
after building my app it it not installed in my android (nougat). but with app companion it is working fine. what can i do for supporting my app on my mobile ? plz reply.
Hi I want to ask I want to put a picture and when I click on that picture it makes a sound how to do it? I want to try an app like drum apps on the play store. Thanks 😀
ReactNative seems to be used as the go 2 app maker, these days. I have heard its got massive learning curve ? Is that true ? NativeScript , Ionic and PhoneGap where other options. Since I am new to programming I am scared of learning ReactNative, as it deals with functional programming and immutability, which are complex concept for me right now. Have you used ReactNative ? Will you recommend it over other given the context ?
i am using a galaxy s6 to make app using details from your video “Make An Android App In 7 Minutes!” i cannot get path to work. s6 doesnt have sdcard. my path when i look at the pics from app are saved in ” Internal storage/Pictues” can you help with this?
Hi thanks for the video. It was cool to see the app getting generated so easily. Is it possible to monetize these apps though ? Is there any such block?
I started to use this website, it is ok. I saw that it works somehow on mobile too, only I cannot click. If I attach a mouse via otg will it work properly? I want to only use my phone if it is possible.
Would it be possible to make an app for an arduino that I can control my motors which is then connected to bluetooth module and sync on it using MIT app inventor ?
Hi Dear, thanks for the video. We would like to convert our website to an app, as you showed, but also we like to add a camera button to allowed users to take photo, and uploaded to our website. How is this possible? Thx. Stveve
I want to make an app that notifies people at their predetermined time of day, so many days( user set )before, for when i am throwing a party. It will also have to load a sort of database of when new events are from i was hoping a google sheet or something else that hosting is cost free. Can this program make an app to do this? or is it too basic to do some of these things?
hey can u make a tutorial how to make an app that connects to an car when u send your current location the car has to track your current location and reach I know how to program but I don't know to do this I can build a login , map , tracking current location but I don't know after that What to do please do help me
Thanks. everything was going okay until you started to stack those blocks above each other. could you please help me to create a photo editor app for android in Arabic. Thanks again.

Glad to have the Old style back it was always my favourite.

Programming an app from scratch takes so much more time, that even the hour hand goes slower than usual

is it just me or is everything just ever so slightly blurred / out of focus?
So I'm thinking about making an android app, this would be my first attempt. Neat, this is like coding minus the tedious language memorization. This is a great way for kids to practice coding.
I made an app that can blow up my phone. It wor-
but can it 69 xDDDDDDDDD
DatCoolGamer - IsReality It can! You just need 2 phones.
Neoflas Technology lol
my app is how to be a memelord
Neoflash Technology
Really like your new video style! The hard work's paid off.
***** I just realised that
Soooooo, instead of writing your code by yourself you just drag and drop it?? That's genius
when i drag stuff it always stays to the left side why?
while yours on the video goes right in the middle why is this?
go to screen1 then change align horizontal to Center: 3
Was legitimately hoping for a runthrough of Android Studio, how the xml's and Java interact and all that, can I hope for a video like that elsewhere?
what do you use un creating your tutorial video..?
3:11 Blocking the 'S' out in "Samsung?" Is that because of copyright/trademarks? :)
+Victor Tran ye(s)
Tinkernut I see what you did there :P

I have a question please answer
Can I do my custom app in this for the Bluetooth rc car thing ?
yes

Programming in visual interface with blocks is still programming tho. So it's not really "no programming required"
nitpicking
search kunsh deep on youtube for android programming
Totally agreed. Without some experience, ppl will get lost right away.

have you tried rebooting your computer or reinstalling java ?
rebooted, but not java, i will have to try that
Nice resource for creating mockups. Thank you.
after I scanned the QR code it always appears that there is an internet connection error
your pc/phone isnt connected to the wifi

How do i do so when you click the button it goes on the other screen?
can you show us how a more complicated app from using this program?

+Anthony Ghouri Only if you download the APK and extract the XML files from the res folder.
Genius
This is so cool! Thank you for the tutorial
Believe it or not, the actual coding is a lot more fun than this GUI stuff. It's still a good way to introduce beginners to develop apps though.

what are u talking about :)
How do i make a button open another screen inside the app?
hi if i would like to make an app with can map my phone hardware button to trigger the zello app, can this software do it?
When I try to install the app, I get the error: MIT App Inventor Tools has been previously installed for all users. Please restart the install with Administrator privileges. It is being installed on Firefox. Please advise.
It is amazing how making an app in todays world is made open to everyone.

It's made by the same people
Yep, MIT
