I was married to my best friend and love of my life for 26 years until he passed 5 years ago. Love, common interests and respect are important. I really liked him as a person first before the romance.

It’s so good to realize this. I wish I would have known it’s supposed to be peaceful. It’s been 21 years of struggle and really hard to separate when you have kids

  • @MickeyKeith

You nailed him right on the spot. We hung out, talked, spent 3 weeks un- separated. I insisted we get married before we engaged in a physical (sexual) relationship. He valued the same beliefs. What did you know? We tied the knot on February the 28th. My 5th. His 4th. Wow. What a partner I have in him. We have all the qualities to that "long lasting life time part " Thank you for all the words and time you have invested in this crazy world on LOVE. You nailed us both. So. As I say to all and everyone here. Never. Never give up. Give in. Hold fast to your inner compass. He/she is out there. Be good. Be kind. Be patient. Work on you to become unstoppable.

I have met a man who has all of these qualities and more! He’s kind, he’s sensitive, he’s sweet, he’s protective, he always asks me if I’m okay, he makes me laugh, he’s sexy, he’s romantic, he’s a talented guitarist, we share some hobbies that we’re passionate about, and we have mutual respect for each other. He’s the love of my life despite our age difference and physical distance apart. I am working on going to see him. Thank you for this video! I already felt like everything was right about our relationship and your video confirmed it. ✌🏼💖

  • @jennhawkins5356
    @jennhawkins5356 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +22

Trust is the #1 most important thing in a marriage to me, after seeing so much dishonesty and abuse in my life. You need to be able to trust your husband…and he needs your trust!
Also, best friendship. After 15 years of marriage, having a man who is also your best friend, who you don’t have to be insecure around with other women or feel like you’re walking on egg shells, but you can genuinely laugh and enjoy one another’s company!
Also, sexual attraction. I never knew how impactful this was to me until recently, but it can take the Eros love to a whole new level!
I also think having compatibility with each other hobbies, seeing their level of discipline, and being able to admire and respect them are very important.

Love is the only thing that will keep you together. Don’t mix up love and relationships. Love is a state of your being ; relationships are work. This is what all the relationship coaches don’t get. Because you can’t coach love. You need to understand that many people will never experience love.

Trust, respect and friendship (a type of long term love) are essential. Chemistry is also important for intimate erotic relationships and will continue as long as hormones are healthy /optimal. There are a lot of things that mess with our hormones and our desire can disappear, even if we still love the person.

    EXCELLENT Matt,
I am happy to say that I have found my forever mate. We hit all of these 100%. Relationships are not easy and they take work and commitment on borh sides.

Such a helpful video, Mat!! :) As always! I was wondering on the other end of the spectrum, if you could make a video sometime about how once we've gone through this list, if we are realizing the person is not the right one, what would be the best way(s) to go about relaying that to the guy? I think this would be an extremely universal question that other women (and men) could relate to because I found it difficult trying to figure out when I met someone how much time I should spend/is reasonable getting to know them before making the decision to date or that they're not the one. For ex. How many dates do you think is fair to see someone before deciding and then if you decide they aren't right, what should you say/how should you go about letting them know? You always have really kind phrases that you recommend so I would love seeing a video on your advice sometime about that! Thanks :)

Always ask if your future spouse has children's names that he absolute has to have no matter what. My Ex wanted his parent's names for his children, no matter what, Walter and Margaret. I had a Walter Jacob, always called Jake. I had a beautiful Margaret, always called Maggie. Although, I would of picked different names. ❤

Matt, I loved the video but please... It's so hard to watch due to these additional sounds. They're not fun. They're annoying 😅

At 59 years old I have yet to find a match as you describe, sadly. I wonder now if I ever will :-(

Do you have any advice Matt about men that have a child already and a woman with 5 kids and what things he would be thinking about when deciding to marry.

I love your videos! But the funny clips were way too loud and disrupted the flow so it was hard to focus. I prefer your usual structure! Don't change something that's already so awesome!!! ❤

Women are taught not to chase. And initiate. If he doesn’t initiate 3x a week how can this transpire. Even if he’s all this to you. It can’t get off the ground with a man who doesn’t prioritize you. During prime times

I think that this is a gender-neutral list.
    1. He becomes your best friend, and you naturally prioritize each other in the things you're doing and have a great time. Need to like and want to hang out with the person.
    2. He brings you peace, grounding and stabilizing life, rather than a crazy, exhausting roller coaster of chaos. Most days are consistent and peaceful. Another video put it as a cozy campfire; I liken it to a Crock Pot.
    3. He's at your level of readiness and is at the stage to go the distance. You might arrive there at different times. There is no dragging.
    4. You share same life vision and values. There are hidden values and major life events coming down the line. Do you have the same life rhythm and tempo? Do you both want a family? How will you raise children? What if you can't conceive?
    5. You feel like the best version of yourself around each other. You pump each other up, rather than making you feel like you're not enough.
    6. He will value your needs and wants over time, making you a priority.
    7. You're sexually attracted to one another.
    8. He fights fairly, reaching a resolution without name-calling, contempt, or stonewalling (unwillingness to talk).
    9. He gets along with your family and friends. You marry into someone's family and friends.
    10. You trust him. He doesn't exaggerate or fudge.
I really thought I had these with my ex; perhaps he didn't feel the same about me.

Your videos are better without the funny clips in it. I found it took away the seriousness of it. Then when I was listening to what you were saying and a clip came on it made me tune out and lose track of what you were talking about

He is my best friend. We are the most important in each other's lives. We laugh and smile a lot together. He brings me peace. Everyday is a good day. I do feel at home with my man. He does want to move forward with me. We do share the same life's values and life. We are insink with life. We don't want any kids, we both agree on that. I do feel like the best version when I am around him, and I do the same for him. He does value my needs and wants, we do agree together. We do have date night one night a week. So we can relax and talk. We are sexually attracted to each other, we haven't been together at night for a sexual attraction, but we will soon. Yes we do talk and work things out if we did fight.we plan on getting married and staying married til one of us dies. I don't have any family left but if I did he would get along with them. I am sure I would get along with his family. He does't tell any whit lies. Our trust is fine. We trust each other. My qualities for my husbans is all of them which I have with my man.❤❤
