In Peter's defense, despite all his gambling, if I had to choose between two men, and one compared me to a flower that needed to be put on a pedestal, while the other laughs in the face of the government and sent me a cutely funny drawing saying "For you, I'd fight a tiger (And win! >:D)"

Lazarus is a common pseudonym for immortals or resurrected people because of the Bible; he appeared "out of nowhere" after Edmund Cloudsley was "killed" during the burglary. I wonder if it would have worked on dead bodies as well? Because it seemed like it made one of the apples either fresh and new or made a fresh apple rotten, and he asked David Gorran to get a corpse.
That also helps explain why Lazarus wanted Mary Battley nee Richards! As Edmund, he had attempted to/wanted to court her. I guess either he had real feelings for her or he was bitter about not getting what he wanted.
53:55 when Lazarus Herst perform the miracle, he was using the Idol to levitate and because he already using it, so when Angus used the idol the effect became the opposite, instead of levitating, Angus is sucked to the earth and his fall became so fast.
Actually, symbols on the idol show "Increase" and "Air" and we know symbols don't automatically change (Only the eye colour changes). So what happened was, that Lazarus used the idol to increase the air around where the idol looked at (the shaft of staff) which caused the idol to exhaust air from the shaft of the staff. It worked because Lazarus used the "Decrease" and "Air" combination at the sky before that, and stored air inside the idol. Reading Walter's letter, Angus learnt about the Increase Air spell, but he never knew the Decrease Air spell. So he tried to Increase Air, but the previous casting by Lazarus extinguished all the air stored inside the idol, so it did nothing.
If he were able to see the idol fully, he might have noticed the eye was blue instead of red, and that means the Increase command can't work.
These are games id never think of playing but then I see gab playing it and it really makes me want to play them

Gideon was drugged by Ergin who used Lemurian Lichen on him (which you can see on the Psychoactive Plants poster at 1:00:10). You can see Gideon blinking rapidly (symptom) and in his testimony he is very focused on the chess-house (hyperconcentration of one thing). I'm assuming Ergin put it in the tea that they were drinking bc it says its a "spicy smelling tea" (usually tea is floral?) and one of the cups was almost empty. Feel free to correct me, I could be wrong on some points but this is what I was thinking is the case.
Came here to say that, Ergin did that to Gideon so he was hyper-focused on the chess house and never noticed Ergin leaving to steal the Lemurian Seal. Ergin drew his attention to the chess house, went back to the salon, saw James lean over Leopold (to steal the button) came in, stole the seal and went back to the tea house. Gideon, never noticing Ergin's absence, never mentioned this in his testimony, and while his testimony is chronologically correct, notice the absence of terms like "morning, noon, afternoon" in his testimony after they went to the tea house. He got drugged, and lost his sense of time (Lemurian Lichen side effect) He doesn't even mention the alarm.

I think you did brilliantly. I struggled a lot following along and had to stop and go through this and the first recordings a few times just to get people's names and stuff again. How you did all of that in one sitting I have no idea.

I didn’t realize until the end that Lazarus was actually a young Edmund Cloudsley!!
When i played, I thought he might be his son or something because I did notice he looked *awfully* similar to Edmund but I just shrugged when no explanation was given/the last name wasn't the same but when he was the same man at the end and did ALL OF THIS TO GET MARY TO MARRY HIM I was bamboozled

oh my god. he went by lazarus, a guy who famously came back from the dead. I'm surprised I didn't catch it myself lol
I had the opposite issue lol... I got so confused when I put Edmund's name on Lazarus's first appearance and it came back as being wrong.
Or if Edmund's name wasn't an option in that level- I don't recall the exact details now, I just know I immediately figured out his identity and got really thrown off by that.

This was such a fun game. I love mysteries, and this was a really interesting story. I’m also terrible at names and faces, and I thought you did well with remembering who everyone was. I can’t wait to see the epilogue and DLC. 😊
It started with breach of contract, experiments, immortality and of course in the end it all went to hell just because of a girl 😂
I realized Lazarus was Edmund after I realized he was holding the book with the letters EC (that Edmund had when he “died” with all the notes about the idol and how it worked) but I didn’t know how he could appear so young/what he did to do that. But I think another clue that would’ve tipped me/made me realize it was when we realized that the idol could take away years of your life in the second to last story and then it finally clicked how Edmund appeared so young haha.
Thank you so much for playing this is such a cool game/concept! It’s nice to see how things changed over the years as you play and see the implied/hidden relationship dynamics over the years. Excited to see you play the epilogue and DLC :D
Honestly it was so hard to remember the faces/names except for certain ones LOL I wish there was a way to look up previous ppl you’d already figured out/reference their faces at some point haha but I suppose you could’ve also observed previous scenes at any time haha

I love to watch you play these games! When I see/hear you make a conclusion (and being right) I am always am so wrong with my deduction even though I get sometimes certain hints fast hahaha (to be fair, I sometimes read a lil bit too much in between the lines which makes my guesses wrong haha)

In the lighthouse scene, you guessed James Turner correctly, but the clues to determine his identity were:
1) In the letter on Maker's person, you find out that JT is a Darkhand Master (so JT had to be wearing a white coat).
2) In the other note on Maker's person, it lists Dr. James Turner as a person present, which was the only name with the initials JT.
3) Angus MacBain had a letter from a member of the Court of Directors at the Seven Seas Company, who also said he was a doctor. Given the only doctor present at the lighthouse was James Turner (based on the letter mentioned in the point above), the letter must have been from him.
4) James Turner had a heavy seal on his person. The seal had VII and waves on it, indicating it was for the Seven Seas Company. After reading the note on Angus MacBain's person, the seal was the final clue to determine who James Turner was.
why do i feel that gideon might had some feelings for the prince since he went to the party just to meet him and had a poem mentioning a prince...or this is just my gay thoughts nevertheless Thank you so much for playing this game, it was really entertaining ( i liked how it got silly sometimes)
Yeah, Gideon is very... fruity. Idk if it's on purpose or not that he looks so gay coded but he might just be a fancy person in the time. erain and Gideon also spent the whole day together doing croquet, tea and appreaceating the architecture and erain (I think he could speak English fine I could be wrong) depended his statement on Gideon. They are also very close together and calm in the scene. They could also just be friends and I'm overthinking it, im very interested in historical lgbtq people.

he also reminded me of Oscar wilde and to top it off. He had a portrait of himself, which is so dorian gray I immediately liked him, but too bad he had to go
This game is sooo cool I love the art style, the original gameplay style, and the interesting story full of intrigue and fascinating characters. 10/10 from me :)

What a fun deduction/detective game! Reminds me so much of “Return of the Obra Dinn”, I hope she’ll do that one some day! Very tough but so satisfying when you tease out the mysteries!
i definitely dont think the game would have felt so hard if gab wrote down things! she did way better than others (that ive watched) on deducting clues outright that if she didnt have to rely on memory to connect them to it wouldve felt easier.
ive watched a few people play and struggle quite a bit and i was wondering how they missed so many things but i think its because when i played i noted down a lot in my phone so it was way easy to recall things like walter being the darkhand steward, dr james turner having the seven seas company stamp, the blinking of gideon’ eyes, edmund’s notes to mary and james to explain his motive and whereabouts etc.
it definitely is wayyy harder to remember things off the top of your head from earlier in a scene let alone multiple chapters ago

For the last one, the idol was stolen at the Inn. Where Gorran, as Ash Blair, killed Wright in the room upstairs. The second lady playing cards is Ada, who takes instruction from the Order. Lazerus was to go to the inn with something belonging to Edmund, and Ada would give him the note that said to meet at the cabin, where Lazerus sent Gorran instead, who was killed by the man in the bush.
This music is gonna get stuck in my head for the rest of the day

Ducktective uses the same format of pulling clues from the environment to solve prompts, but it isn’t pixel art. The Excavation of Hob’s Barrow is a point and click puzzle game that has you solving a dark mystery and is in pixel art style. Gab has vids of both posted on her channel. I had to pause the play-throughs of this game and the two I recommended because I knew I wanted to play them myself! All three are wonderful and Gab’s lets plays for them are a treat as always!

oh i think in the beginning edmund died because in filling the vase with air to make it explode, the idol had to take air from another vessel, which happens to be the box he was hiding in

Want to point out that the candy cane is about increasing and decreasing stuff ie to give heat or remove heat.
ahhh ok wait wait... so they established that the idol can be used to take away years... so what if... instead of killing edmund cloudsley at the cabin earlier on, the idol actually gave him years? to make him younger? well either that, or he rly did die at the cabin, but was resurrected with the idol? maybe the life was taken from something else, like the rotten apple at the cabin, to give to edmund who then became lazarus?? idk XD great story tho
