Gon was repulsed by this, but in the Chimera Ant arc, we see that childish hypocrisy from Gon. If it's for someone he likes, everyone else, innocent or not, can be on the chopping block. We see that when he threatens Meleoron and the newly awakened Komugi.
Megumi Han's performance in this episode never stops amazing me. The voiceacting in the show is overall great, but her work on Gon's lines this episode is just peak to me.

Really good analysis, there are SO many things at play in this scene between the 3 characters and their respective developments since the Kite incident. You are absolutely right about that dark, blank faced, cold hearted person basically not being the Gon we've come to know. He has a very complicated moral compass(when and who is it ok to kill or steal from, who decides that and how) but fundamentally is a kind person who values life. Of course he doesn't want another innocent person to die especially because of their own actions, but Kite was the closest connection to Ging so far who is the primary motivating factor in his entire journey as a hunter. Kite wasn't just a normal life for him, which is why his line to Killua hits different on so many levels, "He has it easy because it means nothing to him". He's saying it as a reaction to his overall response of how logical he is being in this moment. The thing is, this is actually true and Killua knows it, but he cares for Gon so much that from his perspective he has been empathizing with him. Yes, he valued and respected Kite as well, but for Gon he was a pillar, mentor, and connection to his father. He's not only misdirecting anger at Killua, but misunderstanding his actions as him simply not caring. At several points in this arc they show Killua flash back to the moment where Bisky told him that the time would come where he would have to "leave Gon". I feel like Killua felt that this was that moment. He knew there was nothing he could do to stop Gon or the current situation, but he's also been aware this entire time that there probably isn't a way Kite can be brought back. He hasn't and would never say that Gon of course, because he DOES empathize with his friend. Gon is too blinded by rage to realize Killua's empathy, that he does care as much as he can in his own way for both him and Kite. The fucking beautiful black and white shot of Gon walking away from Killua is incredibly symbolic for both of them. Such an amazing episode, unbelievable performance by Gon's VA(shit, Pitou and Killua too), direction, and animation.

But I kinda disagree with that. Gon has showcased signs of a mature understanding of how the world works. Maybe not completely but his mentality is definitely not that of a 12/13 yr old boy. N hence y I won't consider Gon the "usual protagonist". There is nothing wrong in that, as a matter of fact that makes him stand out. But he isn't all goody goody guy.

He was driven by his own reasons and didn't care about anyone else and pretty sure if Killua was to tell him to think this a bit trough he would've been punched. He wasn't a true friend for most of the ark. Kite was important for both of them and yes (more for Gon), it was the closest bond to his father, but for me that's no excuse to treat your best friend like that. Just my own feelings.
He acted like child. Remember gon is twelve if you lost someone very dear to you, you probably would acted the same way. You would be in same situation as gon is right now if you were twelve years old child that hasn't yet to able to control their wild emotions. Aka throwing a tantrum that is what gon is doing right now. HunterxHunter shows most realisticly twelve-year-olds behavior, children's behaviour. Is good and all when adults that have moral compass to judge someone that is building his own. Children in his age doesn't yet know how to grasp what is right or wrong. Im not pretending what gon is doing is good or right quite the opposite but i understand that children behavior would look like gon's if they lose someone very dear to them.
As I said, my own feelings. More like disappointed in the outcome overall. He almost died after this and at the end all good and shiny rainbows. It's not realistic for kids to want to kill and talk that way in our world tho, it's specific for the HxH universe. Killua wouldn't do this but that's because of the life he had, he's been through a lot more. Since Gon was raised in a happy place and this was his first real trauma it's normal, he's more naive from nature. Since I didn't like the approach I wouldn't do the same, doesn't matter adults or children. But this wasn't my point, I just expressed my feelings for the author's decision. I know what you said, anyone knows this. The question would be if you are satisfied with this development. Not an objective way of analysing, but a subjective one.
It's nuts that Gon is slowly to be revealed to be a character that is casting a blinding light but also a darker shadow. It's BA in my opinion but I hope he can control it better. He's a kid afterall.
