We all need to think hard about how we're going to take care of the growing elderly population here in the US and around the world. As Shiv Gaglani points out, I think online solutions are going to be a big part of the solution.

I'm amazed how Shiv bravely turn his steer around and think outside the box. His story is relatable especially about studying in our own pace as it is happening fue the current curriculum.
I'm also felt inspired how he is so compassionate about others who have limited access to education.
This is the real definition of humanity.
    Thank you Shiv and OSMOSIS

I fully support the ideas of the author, in fact, a very convenient and useful educational program that will help not only current and future doctors, but also help patients learn something new in an interesting way! Osmosis is also an indispensable thing for a medical student, which will clearly show practically all sections of medicine understandably and simply and most importantly, interesting!

The fact is osmosis has transformed medical education into an amazing and efficient system. Rather than helping millions of medical student those videos are helpful for even common people out there. In a world where everyone consult "Google doctor" before going to a hospital, these videos will provide a better understanding to even patients. Most of the common disease videos made by osmosis are available on TH-cam makes it easily accessible to common folks. Thank you again osmosis for making my education much much efficient

I love that osmosis is now internationally available. One step closer to globalized medicine.
Knowing how Osmosis was created and the diversity of backgrounds working together towards the same goal is inspiring!
I love watching the videos online and can’t wait to get a membership once I start grad school!
The biochemistry PhD story was the best example of how schools need to break the mold of tradition. The “old ways” doesn’t cut it for the new generation. For a digital world, many schools are behind.

knowing that a lot of medical students think today's lectures are time-consuming and less competency-based is releaving. A lot of brilliant students at my school don't attend lectures, but they still manage to get equally good or even better grades than the rest of us. Not to mention the stress and tiredness and possibly wasting more than half my day on something that could've been taught easier and faster. To realize that people are living longer than they used to and demands for health care professionals is even higher than it is right now, hopefully, we can and will change this. I respect your decision about wanting a better health care future for all of us all around the world. What you're doing is helping us more than you could possibly imagine. I'm a second-year medical student from Iraq and during these two years, all of us have been completely amazed by the work you're doing and the information you're providing.
    Thanks a bunch!

Thank you for creating this platform. The efficiency in medical school is lacking as what is taught in a 3 hour lecture can sometimes be better understood and retained in a 15 min video. As a medical student myself, I see this system of online medical education being of high value, both in time and finances, to allow for medical education to be a lot more accessible to be able to meet the rapidly growing demand.

I love this! In the US (and probably in other countries, I just can't speak from experience), I was taught that I will 1. Go to college, then 2. graduate with a degree that will get me a job in a finite number of career fields. It was almost like the decision of what I did for work was already made up for me before I even had the chance to look up from my textbooks to think about the bigger picture. From my view, jobs exist today because they fulfill the wants and needs of others. If it doesn't benefit others, there is no longer a job for it (just like his Sears example). I LOVE that Shiv had the courage to ACT on what he saw looking at the big picture of WHAT PEOPLE WILL ACTUALLY NEED IN THE FUTURE, instead of holding tightly to a teaching method that was successful decades ago. Shiv, I believe your grandmother would be SO PROUD of you, because what you're doing is actually getting the RESULTS we want, without holding on tight to the METHODS used to get there!
Also, I am a Physician Assistant student, and I LOVE Osmosis! I would recommend it to ANYONE!

What an inspirational story. I can't tell you how many times I used Osmosis to assist me in my studies. I agree there should be a more efficient way to learn course material. I have seen exactly what you were talking about in the classroom...laptops with social media, shopping and Netflix. Sitting in a classroom with drawn out lectures that could be done in a fraction of the time is not an effective method of learning. And as you said, it is fueling student debt. The amount of healthcare professionals needed over the next decade is indeed staggering. You are definitely making a huge impact in medical education. I am sure you family is very proud of you accomplishments. You are helping students and patients have a better understanding of medicine worldwide. I know I am grateful for your videos. Thank you!

This is wonderful! Congrats, Shiv! Online educational platforms, like Osmosis, can play an important role in filling the physician shortage in many other countries too.
These platforms can also bring medical knowledge to the hands of medical students in war-torn countries where attending classes everyday can be dangerous or even impossible. Online education can be particularly important in countries with increasing class size and shrinking numbers of well-trained educators. Many thanks to you, Shiv, and everyone at Osmosis. You might not be aware of this, but you have given me lots of courage to continue my education during a hard time in my life. I am pretty sure that you have changed the lives of many other students around the world, too. Kudos to all the members of the Osmosis family! You deserve all the best.

As a medical student, I've thought about dropping out several times. And that wasn't because I didn't like medicine - I do! -, or because I found the subjects too difficult. However, just like Shiv pointed out, I felt like my expectations weren't being met in the lecture hall. Eventually, I came across Osmosis, that did a better job explaining a concept in 10 minutes than some of my lecturers did in 2 hours. And if that didactic portion of medical school could be done online, that would leave so much more time for the aspects of medical training that can only be done in person. Imagine spending those 2 hours talking to patients, doing physical exams, figuring out your way around a hospital, after having taken the time to study the subject at home - at your own pace, in a well organized and cohesive manner. Now that is time I'd consider well-spent, and it would benefit both future healthcare professionals, and their future patients. :)

Thank you for creating a platform for students, even non-medical students, like myself that gives them the opportunity to learn in a more efficient way. It was an eye opener video about how large is the no of health professionals needed for the increasing health problems ..... best thing i found in this video is that not only medical students but also other health proffesionals and general population has access to these videos ...... this will not only help them identify a health problem but also will they know how exactly the health issue began ..... as a medical student i knw that docters do not have time to tell this much about the disease to every patient ...... this will also increase their understanding and also they could help other people as well with their knowledge .....

Medical school has brought me more frustration than I anticipated to. And just as you said, not by the volume of work, because I absolutely love to put my soul into everything I learn each day, but by the methods our professors chose to teach. I cannot get enough of watching Osmosis videos because They are so well made and contain the majority of the things needed, all compresed in videos of 10-15 minutes. I always search the disease on TH-cam first, watch 2-3 videos about it and combine the INFO in my head, get the bigger picture and just after that I open my textbooks. It helps my longterm memory and it’s much faster. Maximum efficiency with minimal effort.

Wow what a unique perspective...something new i learned from this video was about the growing population. In 2035 there will be more people over the age of 65 than under 18. Physician demand is going to increase and i guess we are going to face a shortage of doctors if we don't do anything about it!

This was extremely beautiful I can’t believe I shed some tears at the end because of how generous osmosis was to the Syrian students. I think the entire video was insightful especially the alarming figures and I really respect the initiative. This makes me proud that I subscribed to osmosis and I thoroughly enjoy learning from their videos for all the systems I’m studying at med school right now, it eases the anxiety of having to read dozens of books. 🙏 ❤️

You're doing a great job. I am a physical therapy student myself and have been relying on osmosis to be a better health care professional. May you achieve your vision and be able to create that impact. More power to you .

So hard to think of the future without proper healthcare coverage but we still need to do our best to provide that care!
