Keir Starmer was quick to declare the local elections last week as a major victory for Labour and a sign of things to come, but we delve into the results to see what they really mean for the next election.
The government's barge for housing migrants arrived in UK waters this week, we scrape below the surface to see how little it will do to address the migrant crisis.

Just one gripe with this podcast: please use some kind of vibration dampening. Hearing you guys banging on the table all the time can get super annoying. Or just use lav mics, and use the tabletops as props.
Yep they need to use a baffle as well because the sound is bouncing off that table - stick a cloth on it. Glad they got the sound and vision in synch.

Living here in Thailand I was embarrassed by the arrest of the protesters. Where I've been guilty of criticizing the Thai law makers for arresting anti monarchy protesters and inflicting lengthy prison sentences. And now It's happening in my country of birth. It's the first time I've tuned into this site and I think it may be the last. I can't hack the continuous giggling. So, exercising my right to protest. It will be the last time. 😉
So now the left want to talk about freedom of expression? Where is our freedom to criticise Islam, mass immigration, LGBT nonsense? All this is cracked down in the uk.

I was offended on behalf of colostomy bags - least they perform a vital role and I have never heard one be accused of corruption.

I'm always amazed that political analysts aren't aware that Keir isn't going to say what his government would do until he has a manifesto, which take years to write.

The Coronation: "It was a difficult wank!" I knew it was going to be a good podcast after that line. One thing, I think you need to sort out the audio, it's sounding a bit like an ASMR video, difficult to listen in places.
This is already areupload, I dont see them doing a better job than this. Imagine being a left winger and not havening an under employed sound engineer to help out?

I just find it weird they don't ask anyone to at least explain/teach them what to do.
Yeah, simple enough to solve, a bit of baffling and EQ out some of the vibrations and the infectious fun of the podcast will be clearly audible to all

@3:20 and, much to my disappointment, the speaker knows nothing of police tactics.
Most of today's police tactics are straight out of Israel and practised in Gaza by the occupiers, even down to the modern feet-planted 'shove' they employ against young and old alike.
The Israelis were instructed in and learned them from British colonial police forces

Housing problem, isn't hard to solve, cancal the right to buy,build more council housing. Stop this obsession with mortgages for second properties for landlords, stop selling houses to overseas investors . But the Tories or the Labour would never do this because they belong to corporations,!

Ben Smoke described his sandwich magazine, in his own words as 'it slaps'. He can't even swear properly.
Waverley is South West Surrey. There were 50 council seats, Lib Dems got 22, Farnham residents got 13, Tories got 10, Labour 2, Independents 2, Greens 1. In 2007, 2011 and 2015 it was almost 100% Tory, in 2019 they lost majority control of the council however Jeremy Hunt got 53% in the GE.
Next GE were getting split up into 2 seats - Farnham & Bordon and Godalming & Ash, Jeremy Hunt will be standing in Godalming. Farnham could turn into a Lib/Tory battleground in the next GE.
The government isnt thin skinned on protests, the recognize that, historically, we are a fair obedient bunch and dont protest.
If these protests are allowed to spread more and more people may realize we need to protest more, instead they want to nip it in the bud and keep it as crazy weirdos who are annoying.
Its much harder for a ‘protest-curious’ person to try it out if all the others are locked up already and discouraged compared to them joining a movement that is out there already.
The London Mob is a thing. The next bunch of riots are going to make The Poll Tax Riots are going to look like a picnic.

How long do you think it will be before anyone working for the police will have to live in walled communities away from the public?
The depressing fact is, regardless of any training or guidance, authoritarian behavior becomes tyrannical due to social context. We all know the conformity experiments, examples ranging from Auschwitz to Guantanamo bay. The risk of human rights violation and even just the risk of human life, drastically increases when left unchecked and unregulated. Transparency is needed to ensure the well being of all those involved in the trafficking of refugees. Because even a decent person will conform to an environment suited for abusive behavior. What do you think happens when an indecent person is placed in the same scenario?

29:04 English votes are what win any election. Unless I’m mistaken the seats won or lost in any of the other three nations including Scotland have not swung an election one way or another since before WWII? I may be mistaken but as far as I’m aware it’s a long damn time.
It’s a central argument of Scottish nationalists I.e. Scotland can vote endlessly against the Tory party but whenever England decides it’s time, Scotland will have to suffer.

11:40 to be fair I don’t think Scottish nationalism and objection to the monarchy go hand in hand. Some Scottish nationalists point out the British monarchy is not the English monarchy, and since the 17th century, before there was a UK, the monarch was the King of England and Scotland both.

I think the sounds heavily compressed which is probably a good idea but it needs a noise gate to keep the quiet breaths from being made as loud as the speech

I thoroughly enjoy your podcasts and interviews and such, but I must say the audio is weird, it's like you're doing a noise reduction pass afterwards and the levels are unbalanced whilst recording. Noticed it massively with the Nish interview too. Is my only criticism though, amazing content.
This is fantastic- but hope that you have more diversity of voices than 3 white men going forward. Although I really agree that this is anexcllently held podcast and some brilliant conversations handled. But PLEASE invest in some better mics and sound dampeners. And Yeah, hopefully you'll have some women again and some people of colour talking to the leftist experience from a different lived experience. Smoke is fab though and I hope he comes back
