Thanks Mike! I have listened to the Apple streams and liked it (hearing similar elements/choices that you observed). I compared it to the DVD-A and prefer the Atmos mix. Guess I'll be getting the disc. It does need to be loud. Which is the only way to listen to Deep Purple...
This puts me in a quandry, I own the 5.1 DVD -Audio edition that came out several decades ago which up to this moment puts to shame every other edition I've ever heard. The slideshow & lyrics make it nearly priceless. What should one like myself do? Of course, DVD-Audio players have become exceedingly harder to find but Sony of all manufacturers now produces a decent one. Thanx
What confuses me is I also own both the bluray quadio of The Doobie Brothers & the multichannel DVD-Audio of The Captain And Me. I love my quadios & all but the DVD-Audio embarrasses the dynamics of the quadio discs, hence confusion reigns.
I don’t know why but to me the quality of SACDs and DVD Audio produce better sonics and dynamics than Atmos and DTS HD on blu ray audios. Does it make sense?
@@shrtal Has me wondering too. I've invested in too many copies of Machine Head over the countless media changes since. I believe I'm sitting this one out for a time until the air clears a bit.
This edition of Machine Head is another example of record companies padding their profits at the expense of their repeat customers. The desirable blu-ray with its multiple versions should be a stand-alone release, instead of being only available with various extra discs and deluxe packaging that double or triple the cost. Like many others, I have multiple versions of this album, from the original LP to the DVD-A to the previous deluxe edition, so it's difficult to justify this edition if all I want is the Atmos mix.
Most people prefer the remaster over the remix when it comes to only a 2 channel setup. The dynamics of the Atmos mix, and the potential of nearly unlimited volume, is when this album really starts cooking, if your system can handle the range.
i was disappointed withbthe DZ remix, there is way too much reverb in it, the remaster though sounds much better, the Roger Glover mix from 1997 is also a good one.
I had this on DVDA for many years, the live material with this version isn't great and so for 100 pounds for Atmos I will give this a miss I love Purple for the price its not worth it.
don't know who gave Dweezil Zappa the opportunity to do the Dolby Atmos remix but it turned out to be a disaster. I know the album well; LP, CD, Roger Glover remaster and SACD. Nice that there were new details found on the tapes, but why mix them in so loudly? Too much echo, instruments fly through the room, controlled by a boy with a joystick who is allowed out for a day. Terrible! It's not right, much less power than the SACD. Waiting for Steven Wilson until he does the job properly. The USA 1974 Quad mix doesn’t do it eighther. The other ‘catch‘ is the Montreux 71’ concert; bootleg quality. Parts of songs are missing. Not the worst I’ve heard, but will not play this one much. Vocals are horrible! Further more CD’s with the album in remix and In Concert 72 not too much new here. Yes there is the remastered LP, a 18 pg book and a sheet with lyrics. But nah. If you got the SACD stick to that! Much more power. No nonsense and messing around with effects that are absolutely ridiculous.
Post your system. I bet it uses bass management, and the tiny speakers can't handle the dynamics in every channel. The Atmos mix blows away all my stereo masters on my dynamic setup.

I know this album for 50 years, this mix sucks. I’ve hundreds discs with surround mixes including Dolby Atmos. There is nothing wrong with my system or my ears. I know something about music.
i ordered ,as DP is my all time fav group i saw them twice mk2 ,ritchie is the best guitarist there is on earth

I noticed the Super Deluxe Edition on Apple Music. It has the Atmos, new stereo remix, and live show.
Todo Deep Purple es fantástico!!
Gracias 😊

Estoy de acuerdo. ¡Muchas gracias!
I would check out the Roger Glover mix. It's worth listening to it's probably the best I've heard.
@@Fuxerzwhere is that available?
@@Fuxerz Sin duda!! Para mí, Roger Glover es un Maestro en el bajo!!!
I have the 5.1 SACD, and would love to have the Quad mix. So I this in my collection in the near future..

MIKE MACHINE HEAD ES UN ESPECTÁCULO EN CUALQUIER MEZCLA 💜💜🔥🔥🔥
¡Estoy de acuerdo!
Thanks for the review, Mike. I think I’m good with streaming and my SACD.

It's strange but both Quad mixes are better liked than the 5.1 mix on Quadraphonic quad (music fans)
Just Google Quadraphonicquad Machine head

I wish I could buy just the blu-ray disc.
Well done!

I streamed the new remix. Not a fan. Something sounded Off to me throughout. Then I played my 2018 pressing. I prefer the original mix for sure
