This is so shitty. I think the society is going to a horrible place. No more drivers, we will not have the human interaction anymore. Postmen, delivery people disappears. Everybody is looking at phones already for the last 5-6 years. Day by day, we will lose our humanity and stop talking to each other completely. Smart phones made us so distracted, it is harder than ever to live the moment. Now we cannot even completely enjoy special days such as birthdays, anniversaries because we are too worried to take a "snap" or photo or a video. We are literally living to use these technological developments, but they do not necessarily make our lifes better. It is the dosage that seperates between medicine and poison. Everything is good in moderation, harmful when it comes to extreme. We are going to point of extreme technological development, this is going to be harmful. Already people became more individual, and I feel lonelier than ever before when I compare my life with 10 years ago. We have to stop this shit, and spend this billions of dollars and billions of minitues thinking power to developing solar plants, recycling plastic and cleaning our oceans rather than some stupid self driving car bullshit.
I think we have +20 years before the trucking industry is fully affected because even with the current autonomous trucks, a driver is still required in the truck. Besides if trucks do become completely autonomous, how would the trucks get fuel, chain up during bad weather, be able to determine if a detour is required or if the road is shut down ahead. And if these autonomous trucks cause an accident, it'll be even longer. And finally, America does not have the infrastructure yet. I'm sure the trucks use GPS and sensors, but going through a tunnel, these advancements are usually interrupted.
Anytime these big changes are around the corner, expect the amount of time it will happen to be at least double what they say it is. If not triple or quadruple.
People who do not transition over to autonomous vehicles will gradually see their insurance rates go up each year until the cost to independently drive will become cost prohibitive.
I keep hearing about this and its valid but when that many people are out of work who are the people that are going to consume the goods? It sounds like it will implode on itself. Yeah save billions today but close the doors to your company next year because no one can afford to buy your goods.

I live in Southern California, we have a shipping port that is autonomous. I'm exactly sure how much of it is truly automated, how ever I'm sure they will figure out how to make it fully autonomous with a few system engineers on staff to ensure a smooth operation. You want to be ahead of the curve, learn how this stuff works and learn how to fix/program/install/calibrate these systems. Become the company everyone calls for this type of maintenance.

That's all well and good but our infrastructure is crumbling and it will never be repaired quick enough to keep up with that. It's time to get in the air.
I hope it's not dead Juspreet. I've recently found a job that I love driving a delivery truck with renewable fuel for industry. Love your work, shout outs from New Zealand.

I do need one of those thinking turbans. All I have is a thinking sombrero..but thats ok. I am in mexico where the trucking industry is huge. The tech sector is a mirror of the US in terms of forward thinking. And yes we also have a stock market. Thanks for the stock tip amigo. Looks like I.have work to do.
The take away from this video is that programmers and especially cyber security jobs are, and will be, the most in demand occupations for many years to come.
Jaspreet, something you did not mention but still very crucial... with manual driving a person can only drive for a fixed amount of hours a week due to regulations but with autonomous that will be 24X7. The impact it would have on availability also needs to be looked at. Not to forget, all the traffic violations dropping to near 0 and various other benefits.
When i was a child i watched "The Jetson's" and "StarTrek" so i have the inside scoop lol and your right on the money. Great video Jaspreet , Keep it up the world needs to learn.
I'm a truck driver and the entire industry knows this is coming. We already have something like 7 computers in the engines of the trucks and some of the big companys are going to autos. So yeah, completely valid.
MR.DC COMICS that is not the one million dollar question. The question is then, why would anyone want to have a car? Because why should you purchase something that is idle for 95% of the day, while you can use an autonomous transporting deliverer which will bring you from A to B whenever you want, for just a tiny percentage of the purchasing cost.
People like my mother who are blind. They still go places & if it's a reliable option it's honestly less to worry about VS someone trying to get over on you. Unfortunately people try to get over even MORE on the differently abled so they would definitely be a repeat customer base alone. Then you also have lower costs for business & lazy people lol.
Kind of like the old school people that only want flip phones, those don’t exist anymore, at least on a big scale. Point is, they were were forced to use modern phones because that’s the only option they had. Same thing will be with self driving cars, it will be the only thing available to buy in the future, unless you keep your car. People at some point won’t have a choice but to drive them.
MR.DC COMICS everything in this world has advantages and disadvantages. I personally would not buy a self-driving car. I think this whole concept is a bit crazy...because face to face interaction with humanity is decreasing day by day..the world is turning into a robotic environment..
Hey Jaspreet! Looove all your videos, except this one. Let's talk about trains. Trains obviously ride or rails, so no need for steering. So you only need to control the speed. However, there are still motormen in trains today. Same thing with planes. We've had autopilot for how long? But we still need pilots. So I'm not to sure about this one. Seems good on paper, but not too practical. One more thing. We already have self parking cars and they're, at best, mediocre. Can't wait to see the self backing semi. Backing a semi is 40% of the job. Thanks!
Shipping companies won't be affected. The drivers day consists of physical work with moments of driving in between. A few dedicated trucking company routes will make the switch, but not all of them at once or in every area.
It could turn out to be like in that Pixar film "Wall-E", where you have robots doing all the work and all we have to do is chill out all day (but hopefully without the obesity and mind-control issues, lol). : )
I’m not buying it. I drive a semi. I know how difficult it is to get that truck safely through bad winter weather. The many millions of instant decisions that have to be made regarding throttle and steering inputs could only be done by a human brain. Plus the amount of JUDGEMENT that has to be used in snow and Ice, severe storms, fog, animals on the road, and aggressive drivers just can not be replaced by cameras, sensors, and code. They will try this, but the first school bus full of children slammed into by an out of control driverless semi will cause such public outcry, that regulatory agencies will have no choice but to stop this. I’m not worried that I will be replaced any time soon.
John, how are the new electronic data logs working out compared to the old paper logs?. Been stuck in the same job for 30 years and seriously considering getting my CDL, and getting into the trucking industry.
Robert Coia , honestly E-logs don’t bother me. They make my job easier, to be honest. However, I work for a Paid By The Hour union company, and am not in a position where I ever run out of available hours. If you work in a Paid By The Mile job, where running as many miles as possible is essential to your income, and you WANT to run “illegal”, then I could see how E-logs would be a big problem.
I see, I have heard both good and bad things about them. I didn't know that drivers could be paid per hour instead of per mile, that would make a difference I suppose. Thanks for your reply John, I appreciate it.
Robert Coia fck that eld bs, stay where you're at, trucking is done ,no money to be made on eld. I've seen it, guys go from 4-6k a month as company driver down to minimum fckng wage basically. don't let any recruiter or person on elogs fool you. the clock will tell you when to eat sleep drive etc. you can't work like that. too many variables
Why do people and companies like Tesla,Uber, and Google try to change things for something they have nothing to do with, all this stuff they’re making for the Trucking Industry is just straight up stupid, ask any real Trucker and they have a huge list of things that are done on the job rather then just driving point A to B, and those things arent easy. So please don’t fix whats NOT broken and work on other things that do.
The future is coming and you can either stay in the past or move forward. Trucks have some of the worst greenhouse effect and with that you can see what Tesla is trying to do. They are just trying to make the world a better place.
looks like someone is pissed that their low wage job will be gone? xDDD people like you said the same thing about cars when they replaced horse and carriage.
Jaspreet thanks for the effort you and your friends put into making these forward-looking videos. I think a good possible place to put our money might be insurance. If these vehicles w/o humans have computer issues at 70mph or can be hacked, I'd say insuring these vehicles would be a lot higher. Maybe in certain areas this would work, but we're talking high risk especially in areas where it snows and gets slippery. Could you imagine an 18 wheeler in traffic with slippery conditions and no human behind the wheel?
self-driving cars being common is simply not going to happen in the foreseeable future. just imagine what kind of insurance you will need. I don't hear of many insurance companies willing to take that risk. Tesla was saying that they will have a self-driving cars for about two decades now. so far I only seen a few and they were all online I never seen one in person. just imagine yourself driving plus with all those lives at stake. no insurance company in their right mind whatever cover those type of vehicles. I drive for a living and seeing the amount of malfunctions that happened in a semi truck with under 50,000 miles lets me know that is a very big risk because at the end of the day someone will have to be responsible if that car or truck or bus kill someone. and I don't see General Motors and Volkswagen raising their hand to take that responsibility. remember Amazon was supposed to have drones to fly your packages out to you and we see how far they have gotten with that seeing that the number of flyaways drones have which is quite common. just imagine you driving down to 85 in Atlanta and a drone just falls out of the sky in your windshield what insurance company is willing to cover that??😂😂 just imagine that with brand new Porsches brand new Cadillacs and Audi's with a few Yukon Denalis piled up on the side of the road and they all covered by the same Insurance Company
Nail on the head. I know autonomous vehicles are close to being ready for mass production, but I didn’t look at it from the job perspective, no help wanted
people are saying they will love to own a self driving car... the thing is if this happens car ownership will be expensive or prohibitive.. so most will rent a car or maybe hire one for a couple days... most won't own a car anymore.. roads are already expensive to keep up so there will be less of them.. road taxes will be paid upfront with the cars lease.. it will become almost impossible to use often at all... public transportation and bicycles will be the only options..
Lee Physique What makes you think Uber needs you to buy a driverless car to work for them? They will own their whole fleet of taxis. They are the only ones to make all the money and evade taxes on the top of it. The ultimate capitalist dream.
interesting point. i have a tough time seeing uber buying millions of cars out of pocket and having an absolute monopoly. i'm sure there will be some type of opportunities like direct participation programs or limited partnerships for investors. who knows though, it's all pretty speculative right now
Uber gets your 20% cut while you drive. Later they use that money to buy a fleet of autonomous cars. The fleets grows in size with time as the benefits are tauted everywhere. This will not be an overnight thing!
Krtko Silva cuz even now they have people that own fleets of cars , that are responsible for drivers I think. That's where u er saves all the capital expense. They don't own any of the cars they make money from lol.
Oh yeah, they will get lawsuits. But throw a lawsuit at Google and it won't even scratch them. They have billions of dollars. They will quickly settle it and keep on truckin'. (Google bought Waymo, which is another self-driving startup)
One benefit is that purchase power index will skyrocket. If shipping costs drop to nearly nothing then the cost of goods sold will be miniscule. Imagine paying 1.99 for a shirt or $5/month for groceries. ppi is the most important factor of collective wealth
Another crazy thing to think about is that we're due for an economic downturn, so this mass shedding of jobs would either hit in the middle of it or during a span of time when the economy would theoretically be trending upward.
I watched the reveal of Teslas Semi Truck yesterday I believe you are correct Jaspreet if they can make those trucks drive autonomous it will change the trucking industry for ever
If your thinking of being a truck driver but your scared of this get into flatbed or hazardous. Box trailers will be first to go. Flatbed is more than just driving and i doubt we're ready for self driving hazardous material.
I love cars and it breaks my heart that this is happening. but the truth is, that it is happening, and we can't stop it. I don't think that cars with drivers will be completely gone in my lifetime (because I like driving and I'm sure others do to) but for things like shipping and trucking, I think they'll phase out quickly.
Trucking is going to be around for a long time even with automation because when you driving in the city. there are many obstacles that's underway, crazy looking driveways backup and the list goes on and on, automation may be good on the highway but not on the back streets.
Dominos may be able to deliver a pizza that way, but companies like ups have sometimes over 200 parcels of all different sizes loaded into their vans. How will they manage to organise their van or truck in a way for each parcel to be able to be delivered in correct order. Its just like amazon saying they will use drones to deliver, I doubt its safe to have a bunch of drones flying around with big screen tvs haha
I give it 5-8 years to be fully in effect. I believe that companies are trying to replace these drivers. The sad thing is that these companies at first are going to need drivers to test these cars. Essentially the drivers are going to test their replacements until it’s safe for the public.
I saw this video on my youtube from my phone youtube notification but for some reason when I typed in this video title word for word on youtube on my laptop it did not show up anywhere...
In the Philippines I will be ok when I retire there shortly. They are about 20 years behind with technology. I was at a electronics store in 2013 and the still had square CRT TVs brand new on the shelf for sale. Even now mobile service there is barely 3G in the provinces.
I'm a tow truck driver, I believe self driving cars and delivery services will have an impact on employment opportunities, but not for my industry... I'm sure they can get the truck to the customer, but it still can't load and unload the disabled vehicles
With the trucking industry, autonomous vehicles are going to be more like autopilot, and will still have a reduced workforce that works with crossing borders, and loading/unloading.
still cheaper to hire drivers for the bulk of things. too many issues within city streets for driverless trucks to do everything. good for folks to focus on.
I want a selfless car lmao. I hate driving as most of friends obsess over it like drifting and shit. Ive never gotten a ticket but i also say im not the best driver out there
Gibran Saliba not everyone can i have to be 23 and easier said than done i have learning disabilites and close minded people who don't give a shit about me
my suggestion, invest in the companies trying to take away your job If they succeed, then you succeed. If they don't, oh well you still have your job!.
Me to, but my problem is, i don't like working so i am not interested in any other job. I like investing and am very interested in the stockmarket and such that have to do with it. But so far i haven't learned enough to make decent money off of it. Decent as in, quit my job and just trade/invest.
I agree with you, but there is one problem autonomous are going to run into in NA and some parts of Europe. Snow gathering on the road and in falling from the sky will interfere with the sensors and the cameras used to allow the cars to be autonomous. There will be autonomous cars on the road within a decade, but in serious inclement weather humans will be better until they can figure this situation out. Good video though.
This might happen on a small scale but not on a big scale or worldwide. It's too risky. People will try and steal and tamper with the cars. Plus, you have to build trust in the people to want to drive in these automated cars. They are still manufacturing cars that people can actually drive by the boatloads so I don't see this happening anytime soon.
I am a commercial truck driver, and I’m here to tell you this, there will never be autonomous trucks ever to run commercial freight. It’s impossible because there are so many things that computers can’t do that truck drivers can that are absolutely essential in this industry. Don’t buy into the bullshit.
I've been telling professinal drivers this for a few years now (as I was seriously interested in that career path) but whenever I say something like that, drivers get VERY defensive and just kind of shut down.. They can't accept the fact that the whole "You couldn't wipe your ass if it wasn't for us." argument is going out the window. Time to adapt fellas!
This is so shitty. I think the society is going to a horrible place. No more drivers, we will not have the human interaction anymore. Postmen, delivery people disappears.

Derrick Towers that's very true

I agree.
I'm gonna be one of those old heads who are stubborn and never get into a driverless car. 😂

I believe it's required to have a person in the drier seat in autonomous cars
They're coming, but not that close. Road signs aren't good enough to inform fully autonomous cars yet, I'd give it 10 years.
Don't forget the juridical side of the story.

I'll still keep driving & keep it classic
Maikito G Me to!
I must confess, at first I only watched for the great BEARD content... but then I subscribed for the great advice!
When i was a child i watched "The Jetson's" and "StarTrek" so i have the inside scoop lol and your right on the money.
Great video Jaspreet , Keep it up the world needs to learn.
You have the best gestures. I need to work on mine even more
I'm a truck driver and the entire industry knows this is coming. We already have something like 7 computers in the engines of the trucks and some of the big companys are going to autos. So yeah, completely valid.
I would say this will gradually happen over 50 years.
Why would anyone want a self driving car...
How much does each driving module cost per vehicle? how much is the real price difference between a human and a robot.
Jaspreet I have already done analysis and it is matching yours and you are correct.
Love your videos bro.... Keep it up BIG UPS
Rise of the machine...
MR.DC COMICS more like rise of the computer
The rise of the machine and the obsolescence of humans.
That thing is creepy, but can it drive a truck?
Robert Coia
fck that eld bs, stay where you're at, trucking is done ,no money to be made on eld. I've seen it, guys go from 4-6k a month as company driver down to minimum fckng wage basically. don't let any recruiter or person on elogs fool you. the clock will tell you when to eat sleep drive etc. you can't work like that. too many variables
I drive a trash truck
I really hope they don't take my job...
Manjot Singh they not doin it for the truck drivers
The future is coming and you can either stay in the past or move forward. Trucks have some of the worst greenhouse effect and with that you can see what Tesla is trying to do. They are just trying to make the world a better place.
They are always, a head!!🙃
looks like someone is pissed that their low wage job will be gone? xDDD
people like you said the same thing about cars when they replaced horse and carriage.
koh Im still in school buddy, just expressing my feeling towards all this change, and im not against change,
I agree 100%. Thanks for the great info!
Can you make a video on how to invest in companies that are working on future technologies. Thanks brotha
self-driving cars being common is simply not going to happen in the foreseeable future. just imagine what kind of insurance you will need.
Thanks for the info and your so right!
The driving industry is deff changing as everything else is. 🙏🏾😳ppl really need to wake up!
I’m 42 they have been promising me virtual reality my whole life don’t hold your breath
anonymous mc , they promised me flying cars for the Year 2000
VR has been around for a while now....
two words...oculus rift...If you don't know you better ask somebody
Vr has definitely been around forever dude... your over the hump its kool. Tesla is also already selling fully autonomous as we speak. Just saying
Oculus blows they all blow its still not ready....tricks are for kids
Nail on the head. I know autonomous vehicles are close to being ready for mass production, but I didn’t look at it from the job perspective, no help wanted
I just got to save I love your channel. Good info thanks for sharing all you do.
people are saying they will love to own a self driving car... the thing is if this happens car ownership will be expensive or prohibitive.. so most will rent a car or maybe hire one for a couple days... most won't own a car anymore.. roads are already expensive to keep up so there will be less of them.. road taxes will be paid upfront with the cars lease.. it will become almost impossible to use often at all... public transportation and bicycles will be the only options..
My hope is that I can take advantage of this by buying a few cars and essentially having them work as taxi drivers or uber drivers for me
Lee Physique What makes you think Uber needs you to buy a driverless car to work for them?
They won't delivery pizza to your door, you will get a notification on your phone to go outside and it. A compartment will open with your pizza only.
I dont trust a trillion pound autonomous truck on the freeway. Sounds like a major lawsuit ready to happen
Hey man! I am loving all of your videos! Can you also please do a video on your thoughts about 401k plans? Thanks!
Favorite TH-camr!!
I'm a mechanic for Freightliner and goods will always have to be shipped some way or another... for a while at least
sounds good, don’t hold ur breath, we haven’t even gotten the hover board frm back to the future yet
There was rumors in the industry about a highway being made from Canada to Texas. It's purpose being solely for automated trucks.
Onnnnn targettttt!Cheers!
dude you’re so on point
Secrets to success 1) Get a Thinking Turbin. 2) Don’t waste money and time shaving. 3) Most important Be Cheap. Thanks for all your helpful videos.
You are right. One question: what about police cars, ambulances and other emergency vehicles?
I saw this video on my youtube from my phone youtube notification but for some reason when I typed in this video title word for word on youtube on my laptop it did not show up anywhere...
Dude been thinking about that since I received my first pay from lyft. No solid answers yet....
You are awesome!!
I want a selfless car lmao. I hate driving as most of friends obsess over it like drifting and shit. Ive never gotten a ticket but i also say im not the best driver out there
i agree completely on what you thunk is ahead but not on the time you predicted . i think it will be further out 15yr + before the change begins .
It sucks because the driving industry is my life
Lu Bu then learn another skill.
You can go get a USEFUL degree or go to trade school
Gibran Saliba not everyone can i have to be 23 and easier said than done i have learning disabilites and close minded people who don't give a shit about me
my suggestion, invest in the companies trying to take away your job If they succeed, then you succeed. If they don't, oh well you still have your job!.
Me to, but my problem is, i don't like working so i am not interested in any other job. I like investing and am very interested in the stockmarket and such that have to do with it. But so far i haven't learned enough to make decent money off of it. Decent as in, quit my job and just trade/invest.
best get a new life then...
1 method i have seen being used is they text you a code which you then enter and in return the door opens and allows access to your pizza.
Package/pizza could be delivered from car to porch using autonomous flying drones. Love your show.
Good video though.
in places with colder climate with icy roads it will take way longer for these innovations to actually work
"thinking turbans" that had me dieing
Put on our thinking turbans! That was awesome!
I love you videos keep it up!!!!
15-20 years to fade out the existing trucks, about 7 years for the taxi industri to replace the existing system almost completely
Very interesting video - you can't become complacent - society, people's behaviors consistently change. Thanks' for sharing and continued success.
I don't see how self driving cars can work in snowy icy conditions. Where I live the roads are shit 5 months a year.
