This is the side of Ed which is not known and he does this kind of song a lot.
If you want more rapping he has song with devlin called “Greatest British bar off “ more recently and has more rap songs like eraser f 64 extended version etc
Also he is looping and what you heard is all done by him alone.
    More Ed would be fun

I was just going to suggest the 'Great British Bar Off' with Devlin at sbtv, someone beat me to it.

It's interesting you made reference to a similarity to Ren. Both did busking, and I think Ren studied musical performance and Ed did Youth Musical Theatre. Both are of a similar age (33/34) too.
Difference being, Ren lost many (10) years of being able to pursue his musical career due to his illnesses.

I was just coming to comment on the exact same thing. I think one thing that both share is the years of hard work and grind that they put in behind the scenes before they started getting main stream success. There is a certain level of musicality and natural showman ship that both of them have that has come from thousands of hours of shows and performances that they got paid next to nothing or nothing for that they did just as an opportunity to hone their craft. Nothing in this world pays off like hard work and dedication and both young men are living examples of that.

I'm so happy that you guys enjoyed my request as much as you did. Like you said, this song shows just how diverse Ed can be and I agree that his ability to keep on going for that length of time while both singing and playing was amazing. Great stuff. Thank you Jeremy and Jillian. Keep up the great work🥰🥰 Alan...

Great reaction! In case you aren't aware - this video is about 12 years old! Ed was 21 when he did this! And he just improves with age. He plays this song at every show he does, and it's even more impressive live, if you can believe it! Actually pretty much his entire live show is like this - he's a looping king. 👑

As far as the green ribbon, i also thought it was most likely paying homage to Damien Rice, one of this big influences. In Damien's song cheers darling he says "I've got a ribbon of green on my guitar."

  • @ReddishReddish

3:30 not sure if you still care but the ribbon on his guitar is actually the ribbon of his first girlfriend.

The chorus of 50 Cents "In the club" being thrown in in the middle is a nod to Death Row Records. I dont know the full story but i belive it was something to do with Ed ghost writing for Em at one point that got those partys connected and they had some part to play in helping get his name out to the world. Ed also has a Death Row chain that Snoop game him so clearly the connection there goes fairly deep.

Do Ed and Stormzy back to london remix (spyro remix). You will get views. We English love when you American react to our big songs. You will get views overtime. I think Ren would be super happy you said Ed fucking Sheeran the biggest male artist in the World) sounds like him 😂😂
Also Bloodstream by Ed at the awards is amazing. Your lady will love it. Looks at the views these songs get when Americans react get. Mad numbers.
Also it was “I am up and come like FUCKING and an elevator” which is even better. 😊

  • @BrendanL135
    @BrendanL135 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

Well I don't think anyone actually thinks that middle part you're talking about actually sounds GOOD, not even Ed, but that's kind of exactly the point. It's supposed to be loud and chaotic and like unsettling and all that. It's meant to be this loud crazy mess, especially with the lights going crazy at that part when live. It's supposed to be like that because he stopped singing and was just doing the guitar part for a bit, so then that way when he abruptly cuts all the sound after being that crazy and loud, and then immediately goes back into singing, it gives this like...huge relief, and really big effect on the song. I think you kind of missed that because of expressing that you didn't like it and stuff lol. But that's the exact purpose of it, which he does the exact same thing in another song as well called "Bloodstream". It's especially awesome in that song. The crowds go crazy when he does it in any song. So yes, it doesn't technically sound good, but it's not supposed to, it's supposed to do exactly what you said it does haha. It's got a purpose.
Loved the reaction by the way! There's soooooo much more to Ed than just his mainstream radio hits. That stuff doesn't define him at alllll. Everyone knows the name and the hit songs, but so very little know and give him credit for just how absolutely and unbelievably amazing he is. I wish I could show everyone everything I've seen of him through the years with just a snap of a finger lol. That way everyone could understand.

It seemed very long, but he just kept going! I love his voice, but I also like that he sings with an accent. He’s so talented and not afraid to do what he wants. I will need to hear this again with my beats and listen for the technical things you talked about. Soooo gooood!! Thanks for this video today. 🎶 Cyd

Ed has a bit of a uk grime background shared digs with Devlin a uk grime rapper before hitting the big time in essentially pop music, Ed recentky dropped a straight up rap collab with Devlin also featured with other uk rappers rapping not singing also songwriter for many A list artists just like Ren they are multi faceted and surely has at least a few tracks for anybody, not a massive Ed sheeran fan myself but love his live stuff with the loop pedal

Your the first reactors to say what I thought about the Ren link - both amazingly talented.
When I first thought it I felt wrong, because Ren is cool and Ed wasn’t ( in my head ). I’ve since realised that Ed brilliant - like this.

We just aren't as educated on Ed. We know he's wildly popular, and definitely interested in more of this type of song over the more mainstream pop songs. Just a personal preference !
