You did the right decision by staying in Siargao than going to Cebu nor Manila. Though your situation at this moment is far from what you are used to, in God’s time everything will be ok. You know....
Your daughter will remember these days as really special and memorable ones.
And she will remember that you faced calamity and challenge with bravery and wit... as a family.
She will remember her parents as being among those who did not flee at the slightest hint of uncertainty.
When your friends needed you, you were there. And they are here for you as well.
She will remember her Mum being resilient, positive and strong in the face of hardship.
She will remember her Dad as the man who can get any job done.
She's learning all the right things right now. :)

Story is so much luckier than these kids if you think about it. I wish this family can get proper help soon and funds to rebuild before dry season comes. Without a roof over their heads it would be difficult for them to beat the ever changing weather.
J always has very wise words when he does his reflections specially with what he said about those who left too soon and carrying memories of trauma with them as opposed to those who have stayed behind and seen the changes day by day. Always inspiring to hear of 8MFH's commitment to positivity.

You are very right, J. The mental trauma, though will remain in your subconscious for a while, being their helps heal and recover from it. Seeing things destroyed and rebuilt is therapeutic in a way and calming, knowing that what was destroyed can be rebuilt and replaced and the trees will grow again. It’s like dealing with a loss, you have to go through mental and emotional pain but eventually once you accept it, it’s easier to move on. ♥️♥️♥️
The £4000 target for the school is almost there! Thank you for doing this video. The donations are pouring in. When I first posted it on the 8MFH supporters groups FB page it was just £400+. I had to smile about the toilets being the safest. One of our farm tenants in Bohol had a toilet seat placed on the wood and mud floor that covered their septic tank. After the earthquake and Yolanda storm in 2013, we were actually surprised to see it still standing. And then someone tried to use it. 😆
Anyway, thank you for sharing with us a slice of your lives. It's amazing to see parents actually encouraging their children to play in the mud and rain and the fallen trees. Any Filipino parent would have screamed at such antics. You're not only being an asset to your community, you are showing people a better way to raise kids as well.

Nice to see story doing REAL Playing. Playing with the puppies, climbing trees, playing ball, climbing the hill, doing balancing on a coconut tree trank.. you dont get to see that often as most kids are just contented playing at their gadgets. They dont play outside anymore

Thanks for checking the forest school and hopefully your viewers will assist the rebuilding of that special school. It was just amazing that Story mature a bit and I think learned a lot from her experience, that no matter what people will pull through there struggle. A special lesson that people in the western world never experience. By the way Poppy is getting very physically strong and energetic, amazing how fast and energetic she is. Great job in getting her healthy. Is Sasha going to train her eventually before she gets a bit very independent?

We used to have this type of school "forest school" in gradeschool in the Philippines. Its a different version. We cultivate soil and plant vegetables. Also girls scout, where we go to mountain and hike. I think they don't this anymore as part of the curriculum. It's a shame kids nowadays are glued all day with their gadgets.

Yep. By the time I was a senior high in 1984, I was a Rizal Scout and well-versed in mountain survival. Something my kids and grandkids can only dream of now.

cut and trim the branches of those toppled trees, leaving only the main trunk then tie upright. they will grow again so long as the roots are properly covered.
our thoughts and prayers for fast recovery of Siargao!

The kids on this video. This was how I was when I was a child, always outside climbing trees, helping clean the yard, especially after a typhoon. My adult self would be horrified at the sight of my young self just nonchalantly using a bolo and a shovel to clean the debris. I could have been just 9 years old when I would pick-up a bolo and just use it where I think I need it. It's scary thinking about it now, haha. Sometimes I wonder if my parents knew what I've been doing. But I think they know and it's funny thinking about it, coz I never got scolded for those.
