I never get tired of listening to Pete play this. I have watched this many times and watched Pete play it live. It is on his excellent CD "Santa Rita Connection".
I walked by Stage 3 at Winfield one day and heard Pete playing - needless to say, I caught every set that year and for several more years to follow. Watching him play with Mark Gzanga was awesome…
Please Pray for Pete who is fighting for his life awaiting a new heart.. He is an amazing person, luved by many for far more then just this tallent he has been Blessed with, and Prayers for his wife and family members.. thnx, Marc-aka-HighlandBreez (his cousin)
@HighlandBreez I appreciate the kind words and thoughts Marc. I am another cousin of Pete and am praying for him and the entire family. It is great to see and hear all the support. -Seamus
I think youl always be my favourite guitarist of all time. Regardless of whether your the best technically i couldnt care less, i really appreciate your passion to play and especially to teach others. Growing up your videos were always the ones i watched even if i hated the theme. You made me wanna be a better musician and still make me think that way. Have a sense of humour aswell and amen to that in this day and age. On the off chance you ever play a gig in a wee country called Scotland il be there in a heartbeat.
I don't think this should be a debate.. many many artist have their own styles.. why must people debate, rather than simply enjoy the talents.. no doubt Raf is good, as is P Hut.. I have my fav, yet I won't make it an issue, Rather I shall enjoy each and not cause a stir.. try kindness, post compliments for all the talented artists that have poured their lives into what they do, that we might be all the richer for the opportunity to hear their gifted renditions..... end of line.....
@BurninAss Yes more relaxed, and more groove than technicality. This version just has a little more counterpoint going on, in terms of bass lines and melody. It all comes down to opinion though. They are both good in my opinion, and different in their own awesome ways.
bransonguitar - I love Adam Rafferty too! But Petes version of this song is little more lively and upbeat while staying funky and in the pocket compared to Adam's IMHO. Again BOTH are two of the best finger style guitarists ever! I especially love Adam's "Beatles" arrangements and performances! And Adam's facial expressions are priceless! ✌🏼
O that the candle that burns twice as bright should last half as long. Didn't he sound like he was born with that guitar in his hand never to let go even as he departed unto the cosmos?
Ben Harvey - I think Adam will enjoy Pete's arrangement and performance of this tune. I don't think either Pete nor Adam are the jealous types on an ego trip. They would probably trade ideas, jam and talk for hours. But I get your point...if you must.✌🏼
This is how he does it: a little bit of bass, then some melody, then some quick seemingly random notes to show he can play really rapidly, then some bass again. Repeat. Be sure to play this at an unpleasantly high pace so the lovely feeling of the original is entirely gone.
An amazing, talented guitar player. A guy with a great sense of humour and humility and an all round good guy. Rest in peace Pete, taken too soon.
13 years later and I am back. I LOVE this
Saw him playing in Winfield Kansas years ago. Excellent musician. R.I.P. Pete
10 years later 2019. That is still some fantastic guitar playing.
RIP, Pete: it was a pleasure singing with you, on my Guild 12, at Winfield. You were awesome!
Pete has been on my Facebook news feed for a week or so. I gave him a listen today and he is AWSOME.
Something happened for him to be in the news?
Just learned of this fine artist...damm

RIP - You were better than most people knew. A loss to the community, as well as the family.
I can't believe he is gone now. He was a tremendous talent.
John McMahon first fingerstyle guitarist I ever saw live. The reason I bough a Collings guitar, actually. Such a loss 😢
I am sooooo heartbroken learning that Pete has passed away..... RIP Pete, prayers to your family. Thank you for your music and inspiration. Godspeed.

He was so goood, it's so sad he just passed away... Rest In Peace. God is taking away the best ones :c
Okay okay, the energy flux is taking the good ones
Death, entropy, whatever
God doesn't take people away.
That's knocked my advanced Ukulele lessons into a cocked hat,lol.:-((. Sheer brilliance and dedication from Pete, what a great player.

I don't think Rafferty's is better. He's one helluva player, but Huttlinger is a legend.
Damn !

Mike Dawes version is one of the best !

Thats a wrap! :D
Such a loss.. Is that Muriel Anderson on stage with him? She's and amazing player too.
Gone way too soon.
I didn't know he had died what a sad loss to the guitar world
O that the candle that burns twice as bright should last half as long. Didn't he sound like he was born with that guitar in his hand never to let go even as he departed unto the cosmos?
I thought he was going to say it was SRV asking him to play it.....
@pigglywigglymacarena
hmmm, interesting, how about explaining why its better?
Damn,that was shit-hot!
Shame not better quality video
Adam Rafferty is gonna be pissed.
Ben Harvey - I think Adam will enjoy Pete's arrangement and performance of this tune. I don't think either Pete nor Adam are the jealous types on an ego trip. They would probably trade ideas, jam and talk for hours. But I get your point...if you must.✌🏼
uau he destroyed my fingers try to imitation

here's a tip: the blah-blah ends and the music starts at 2:31
the blah blah is hysterical, BUD.
Yes, he has the rhythm beat, just bad.......I really bad A! Nice thanks.....
Adam Rafferty's is tons better. You're welcome
this is so far from impossible lol. maybe for the dime a dozen casuals. this is just basic fingerstyle
@TheDixiejustice Sorry! Mistakenly clicked thumbs down.
Adam Rafferty's version is so much better with more soul and funk.....and better groove.....
STOP talking and play man!!!!
