I am luck enough to have picked up the G-7800B. The all black version with negative display. I agree with all your comments but can also add that the negative display version of this watch has the clearest most readable negative display of all my g-shocks. Best pre-MIP display that they made.

I have this, has problem dinding its strap. I wonder why casio discontinue the model as well as the parts. Its a wonder to read the screen. Date, time day hour, min and secs in one screen ❤️❤️
The MIP display had taken over this ugly obsolete one. The GBD-200/800, the new DWH5600-1 and the GBDH2000-1A use MIP display, this is beautiful and is here to stay maybe for ever.
MIP is definitely better, took them long enough to get here. Still gotta appreciate the past.

That’s a great looking watch. Are they rare? I’ve never seen one anywhere? Maybe they were expensive to produce?
Kinda rare since Casio only made a few of them unlike other g shocks. They aren't as expensive though. Look for them on buyee links in the description.

GPW2000 GPW2000 GPW2000 all the way. Get GPW1000 later if you still want them. GPW2000 first, much better watch built, design, maintenance and all. Some of my videos:
