At 8 years old, Christmas 1991, my Grandma gave me my first G-Shock, a DW-5600C. I've had a G-Shock Square on my wrist for most of the last 32 years. Now the GW-M5610U is my daily as a park ranger. It keeps accurate time and i don't ever have to worry about it. I love looking down at my wrist and thinking of my dearly departed grandma. 😊

Yup. I agree. I have this new watch too but I also bought the original back in 1983.. it was the original GShock and was my first watch that I bought myself when I was 17 years old. Now I’m 56 years old & I was able to buy this watch again brand new. this watch has so much nostalgia and really makes me feel good to wear it and look at it because of that. I have a Rolex, Breitling & Panerai but ever since I bought this watch 6 months ago I don’t want to take it off and I’m spoiled to want my watch to be accurate to the second and never have to charge it nor set it. It’s so light weight & comfortable that you never feel the need to take it off.

I was about to get the updated GWM5610 but instead went the ProTrek route. I bought the titanium one but the PRW-30 (lug to lug is closer to 48mm) is just so much more legible than the majority of G-Shocks. What it loses in shock protection, it gains in legibility and triple sensor (compass, altitude, and temperature). Solar and multiband 6 allows for setting the latitude/longitude, which shows the sunrise/sunset times too.

  • @tufelhunden5795

I thought it was an interesting & informative video, thumbs up &/or kudos. I got into the Casio G-Shocks around 2017 basically for receiving an AWG model for Xmas. Saw it spin up to life when I took it out of the package and was immediately amazed and hooked, especially for the solar and auto updating models. Considering that Casio has 40 years of history and evolution, even now when I look back, I wish I had information like this & options for some of the models that you outlined, years earlier. Totally agree 100%. I am a Casio enthusiast. I own multiple G-shocks, ProTreks, and just basic Casios. For watches Casio is THE brand I use. That being said of ALL, my Casios the GWM5610-1 is my absolute favorite for all the reasons pointed out in the video and one more. The G-shock came out in 83. I was 15 years old. I think I remember it being about $40 and that was a lot steep for me at the time but man did I like it and man did I want one. The original looked a lot like the 5610 of today. I constantly use the countdown-timer and stopwatch as well as the Alarm every morning. After seeing your vid last year I also bought myself a coloured combo set (mr4, rescue orange) and I've been using it with that kit ever since. Just as you, I also rarely wear it considering I have other watches in my collection including a Garmin that always shows the perfect time via bluetooth connection. Still, I'm really fascinated how this little watch is self charging and self adjusting without being "smart". You only need the sun and proper reception. Funnily enough, my all time favourite Gs are the 5610 and 9400 Rangeman like you featured at the start. I find it impossible to choose a winner between the two. However, for my upcoming holiday, I’ll be taking the 5610 over the 9400 just because it’s smaller.

I love g-shocks. My 5610 was eventually dethroned (dewristed?) by my GA800. It's a plain (no solar, no atomic, no sensors) analog-digital combo that is very legible, unlike many of the others. Standard 3 hand setup, positive LCD, and the light button at the 6 o'clock position. I swapped to the 5600 style strap as the stock strap did not curve to fit my 6.75" wrist.

I'm about to buy a Casio F91 watch and I was looking for a good option for a relatively small and practical G-Shock watch, now I know what to do 😎 Thank you very much 💛

The Casio F91 has got to be the best value and toughest watch ever for the money. The only reason I now have more expensive watches is that I have a bit more pocket money, but I never kid myself that they will beat the F91 at anything.

G-Shock redefined watches for me. My best is the GW-5000, the 2019 model year with the 3159 module and screw back. I also have the combi strap and love it...even with the crappy buttons!

I have the Casio GWB5600-2ER on silver metal case and bracelet (so there's bluetooth too) and it was almost the same price and let me tell you, it's a beast, one of my fave. It's not by chance that most collectors own a square.

Can you please share where exactly, all I found on ebay are the bezels with the red and blue lettering, the one with a blueish or greyish color were for the gw5600 and gls5600 which I think is the shiny painted white appearance from the g-lide series. Our gwm5610's don't have shiny straps and bezels. Thanks.

What a coincidence, I'm wearing the GWM5610U today. Such a versatile watch and many great features that could be added to the list (you focused on the right ones). Despite it's size somehow it fits great on my 6.25 inch wrist. As Eliazer said in the comments before, don't really need another G-Shock as this does it all. I had a GA-2100 but ended up selling it because it was a bit too big for me, as the things it can do, aren't as good as the GWM5610U, which I found I was wearing more often anyway.

Honestly any g shock square is a win in anyones watch collection in my opinion, the only thing I wish is that I got my G Shock in the tin rather than a standard Casio box (G Shock branded of course) with the stand.

Yeah, I have to agree. It was the third watch in my little collection. However, recently, I have been seduced by a bright yellow GA2100 which has many of the same features and a much better light. It is taking up a lot of wrist time now. I do love hands on a watch. However I am intrigued by the white bezel and stap kit for the 5610.

I've been wearing different G-Shock watches since I was 8 or 9 yrs old, and I usually go for those on the larger side, but I'm planning to buy a metal version of the one you present in the video :)
