Great project but i want to ask how did you solder the base of the dot board
Great project and wonderful layout. I built mine on plexiglass for durability. I do have one question, in the diagram for the voltage regulators it shows a 7805 and a 7505, I believe this was a typing error and BOTH should be 7805. Mine works with both 7805. Other than that issue, it is a flawless fun project. I am also looking to add a programing port, but that take some thinking. Maybe I will just 3D print a snap lid for easy access to the ATMEL chip.
This was a typo, he is using (2) LM7805. I would suggest to add coupling .1uF on all 74HC595 between the vcc and ground. This will remove the noise from the vcc line. Source, over 25 years of electronic engineering.

How long does this work before the shift registers blow? The 74HC595 has max output current of 35mA per pin (OK for one LED) and max 70mA total through VCC or GND: therefore four or more LED's on in a range can blow the chip.
The 220 ohm resistors limit the current going to the LEDs ... Voltage = Current x Resistance so Current = 5v / 220 ohm = 0.022A or 22mA ... only one led per line is lit at the time, multiplexing is used to make it look like multiple pixels are lit at same time.

@The Electronics ADDA, please be aware that your soldering is very iffy. Perhaps you may not like the comment, when you are showing on a video how to build a project, the soldering is half your project. If you pay attention to this, your projects will be a lot more reliable. Please take note that components can withstand 4 seconds of full heat from the soldering iron. This is enough time to solder properly. As it is your project on the video has a lot of cold soldering.
All the 220 ohms resistors should be replaced by 270 or 330 ohm resistors because you are getting 22 milliamp from each led. 330 ohms will giver you 15 milliamps which is fine for your project. Also, you scematic does not show the voltage connections on the ULN2003 (VCC and ground (pin 8 and 9))
