Recently found this channel and fast become my fav fpl channel. Just joined the mini league, in top 10 atm 27k overall much better than I usually start. First season I have really gone deep into analytic side.
Indeed, we had to 'optimize' the pod a bit... Is there any particular content you miss now? We could try to bring some of it back in, every now and then.
@basbelfi yes, went a bit aggressive at the start thos year in the hope that it keeps me interested and engaged throughout the Game weeks. Never had a rank to protect, now it's all planning, navigation and good old luck.
I disagree massively with opta driven teams and decisions based on stats. You take the human out of it and fun. Most of ye will be cool just to let AI autorun your seasons. It's a terrible way now in the future. Most opta driven teams or managers addicted to 'the data' and dismiss the eyetest and positions a player gets into (because the data isn't showing that threat, well.... I'm convinced these type of style will never win FPL). EVERYONE is getting off Saka and Isak for Salah and J. Pedro.... that's the data. But the two former I'd not be surprised if they haul more! I'm just the oppose type manager to you guys. That's not a issue. There are more ways to skin an fpl cat! Goodluck GW4
Thanks Vince, and indeed we keep saying that there are different ways to play this game. I'm the proof of it, as I'm not an Analytics manager myself. ☺ And also Sertalp keeps saying that it's never a case of just relying on the data and the model - there are still decisions the 'human' needs to make. One correction to your comment: Last season's FPL winner, Jonas, was an analytics manager. We had him as guest on our podcast. So, it's possible to win it with this style. 😉
@basbelfi OIC I have watched alot of Jonas true, he did win.... he said the opta data helped him get on Gvardiol early and take that punt. I hear ya. But there is a danger you could come back to the masses by doing 'covering', and 'protective' calls for team rank. Then you stop doing the things that got you where you are. You get fearful of EO. You know what I'm trying to say. I myself have had 2 terrible rank years, mainly I hate templates amd being boring. I know being boring and template was winning the most points last few seasons..... But templater managers are lost right now. And freethinkers like me EXCELL. Congrats on your 100th episode. I think I'm near there or abit more on my pods. 🎉🎉🎉🎉
