i like the hasbro one, it looks like an 80s toy, they did get more detailed as they got closer to Return of the Jedi, the sculpt on Chief chirpa was very intricate
This comparison video was absolutely (Randy) Savage SteveO!! And I would have to agree, the one from Bobaluga Is the clear winner in my book as well. I definitely think Kenner would have sculpted on all the details back in the '70s and '80s, that there wouldn't be any big bulky plastic bits that look more at home on He-Man figures then on vintage Star Wars. I do think however, that if the figure is made towards the end of the run, that they might have beefed him up a little bit as they were figures from the ROTJ and POTF lines that were increased in size. So I actually kind of like the added bulk that Hasbro put on their retro figure. Same with the face paint. If it was from the original couple lines, it would have been more simplified like the Hasbro version, more akin to the original Chewbacca - but as the line aged, Hasbro did utilize some better paint apps. Although, looking at my collection of vintage Star Wars figures, it was still kept pretty simple in the face paint apps all the way through. The Bobaluga version might have had a little too much face paint, but I honestly think he looks better that way. 👍 Love the side by side comparison review. I skipped the Last 17 as GI Joe (well Action Force over here) caught my eye so I'm hoping they actually complete the 96 run in Retro. They both have their advantages, the head design is probably better on the custom, but overall I think the Hasbro wins for me. Both cool additions to your collection though!
Plus and minuses on both sides, either way hasbro for price point and availability but that Bobaluga is fantastic. God thing you don’t have to pick one.. BTW Hasbro’s looks like I painted the eyes.😂
The Bobaluga head on the Hasbro body would just about be a perfect figure.
