It's really a shame that the Sax is so excluded from classical circles. I love listening to it and hearing it in this context seems weird, at first, but becomes more familiar and fitting.
@@micahmazzella The saxophone was patented 174 years ago (1846). It's more likely then that it's not used in classical music as the pattern had already been set by Bach, Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert and others. There were plenty of great classical composers in the second half of the 19th century and when classical music was probably at the peak of its popularity. The reasons they didn't adopt the saxophone are unclear.
Worse when you find out its exclusion is all out of spite. The soprano, alto, tenor saxophone all fit perfectly in classical music. Dunno about the baritone tho.
Well done Luke, the fine support from your orchestral colleagues and last but certainly not least, your conductor. Lovely piece of music, interesting, charming and fun.
Love it - great Job from all these young Artists and this perfect Conductor. Greetings from Germany - God bless you! Come back to EU, come back to Friends. We love you, we need you!
I also would like to try it for Alto Sax… Where can I find notes? I began to start sax 🎷 and I love it from the beginning!!! If anybody has some inspiration for me for playing it, I am always happy. Sorry for my English, I hope it is understandable, I am not from an English speaking country
Well done Luke, this is very Impressive playing indeed..the video side of it needs running through some colour correction in post editing, because of the low lighting it looks quite muddy.. The sound quality is excellent considering TH-cam compresses it down dramatically... Super Video, thanks for uploading this. Regards
Hi Wells Cathedral Music School, if it would be the best may I ask what’s the setup of Luke? Amazing and spectacular and magnificent play! Greetings from England!
Funny enough the late, great Mr Sax also invented the bass clarinet among other things. He just got on the wrong side of nearly every instrument maker in Paris and essentially got the Saxophone black listed from orchestra because of it, when it was designed expressly for it.
ME I played this too!!! EVEN much more better !!! I AM THE BEST !!! HOPE EVERYBODY reads THIS !!! THANKS SO MUCH to realize that I AM SO GREAT !!! ❤️❤️❤️ 😕😕😕 😭😭😭
I mean the saxophone just shouldn’t sound like this terrible I’m sorry in not being negative .For a start should be performed in the Cathedral.Theres such a lack of energy and life in this performance couple with a week sounding Saxophone. It’s like a Cat Pissing in a Tin.I love Saxophone but I have to turn you off Now
Bravo! Nice alto playing. Orchestra sounds very good too. Nice to see a saxophone playing in front of an orchestra.

Yes, it fits perfectly. I find it very odd that so little classical music is written for it and virtually none by well known composers.

@@micahmazzella I think that was later - more in the run-up to the jazz age, and the sax wasn't immediately accepted in jazz.

Can you help with the piece. I need it?
I played this concerto years ago for my Grade 8 and Diploma. Love it to bits. That second movement though!❤️❤️❤️

Am I the only one who feels that a cartoon should be playing along with the music?
Would be a very old cartoon but i get where youre coming from
Great job everyone!

It was the harpist, wasn't it Luke?
Bravo!!
MARAVILHOSO!
I hate how Sax’s are only known for Jazz listen to this!! It’s more then just Jazz
Exactly 💯
it's actually very good for classical, and can also imitate most of the instruments
it's sad they are excluded from classical partiea
Ben bu konsertonun alto saksafon notasina nasıl ulaşabilirim ?
well done

Does this piece also exist for alto saxophone and piano accompaniment?
Yeah it does I played it 2 years ago.
Yes it does. It's also part of the ATCL repertoire

The credits should show the soloist, who is very good.
So it sounds like a flute with more "volume"

Who is performing this concerto?
The Wells Cathedral School Symphony Orchestra. The soloist is Luke, one of our music specialists.
@@WellsCathedralSchoolMusic Which Luke?
It's an overall brilliant performance by the orchestra. And Luke's performance is so adequate.
I'm so glad he didn't go into sports.

I've only just discovered Ronald Binge. I find it a shame he gets classed as 'light classical'. Always seems to demean someone's work to me.
неверагодныя віншаванні з прэзентацыяй
Lol the cough :(
Хорошее звучание оркестра, а солист разочаровал-игра бледная, ученическая. Концерт сам по себе не интересен, материал и потенциал не был реализован.
