Wow these places are amazing,moved away from Glasgow to Aberdeenshire about 14 years ago and remember these fantastic bars. Great job putting them out there my man. This day and age £4-50 for a 3 course meal fantastic. Good on them. Support these magnificent pubs folks.
I spent my childhood living at the top of the building, goldmine on a early sat or Sun morning for us kids as we were always finding ten bob notes (50p) on the pavement outside the Star Bar. I have so many happy memories of that place. I have tried to find photos of the shops and the general area from the late 60's early 70's so far no luck. the area has like most of Glasgow changed so much in my lifetime
The company that the auld yins receive is not just about the meals, the Star Bar does a service. I stay on the opposite side of and loved a pint in there. Genuine people just wanting a blabber. A wee bite to eat. The Star Bar and their staff are legends.
Used to go here back in the 80's! Remember it so well. Few beers and a bite to eat after work, then across the road to McNees. Sometime end up in the old Plaza dancehall!! Those definitely were the days. Thanks for sharing your experience guys. Brought back some wonderful memories. 👍🍻
Sadly like everything else the typical of the shelf massed produce ones have been shrinkflationed into garbage these days, mostly a measly half inch of mush inside. You really have to seek out a good pie at a proper butcher.
Take my dad here every Thursday for lunch, 2 buses there and back again and my dad goes every Friday and Saturday night for the karaoke - sometimes Sunday too 😂. Andrea is fantastic and looks after him at the weekend for me and can phone me when needed, she deserves a medal 😊

The Star Bar is famous even to the point the job centre tell people on depresion who are struggling about the great food and prices at the star bar so they are looking after customers above and beyond your normal everyday regular - Good on them and long may they continue

Years ago we serviced the NTL site aroon the corner,no there noo.went in the star bar ,excellent and that was yrs ago .can i tell you it used to be £2.00.a mate says it was £1.50.gid scran..
@northred4930 Andrea goes to the fruit and veg market 1st thing in the morning before coming to the pub, bulk buy ingredients. They dont put prices up until absolutely necessary.
Took my mammy there in1979 and had a great meal then I was visiting from Australia We lived in Wallace Street in the late 50s and she always loved The Star Bar

Could you access the roof of the building? It looks like it has a flat roof.
I used to drink in that pub in the early 1980s, then I'd make my way to the Plaza Ballroom. Good times.

Get there before 12 because it is always full to the gunwales, I've been there loads of times. I thoroughly recommend it.
