I still think it's crazy what you have to remove to reach the airfilter (of any bike), You would think engineers would think of it how to reach objects easier for maintenance and such. But you have done it with great skill, almost like a surgeon.
Thanks very much, was a bit of a challenge, but I enjoy a good session on the tools. Have notice on the Triumph Tiger 900, it's really accessible. Unfortunately I'm now on the Tiger 1200, and on my bike it's another 6 hour operation!🤦♂️🤣🤣
Great video. A long time I was thinking the Japanese ingenieurs build complicate motorcycles and there parts. But after I remove some plastic parts from my 2015 S1000XR I am sure the Bavarian Ingenieurs visit the same school 😂😂😂😂 cheers 🍻 and ride safe 👍
It's all fun and games under these panels🤣🤣
Nice to see a bit of alcohol fuelled garage faffery going on again. Noticeably less burbs though.... That looks a bit of a PITA to do. I thinks its easier taking the tank of my 1290 to fit an air filter 😂. They do sound good though, the inline 4's with a nice induction note. Hopefully we'll get a better sound check in videos to come. Good work Shaun 👍
Most definitely be some more soundage to follow, possibly using a different lid.
Cool video bub. This helped a bunch.
I'm glad it helped👍😜
I like how you work!
Cheers Mike👍🍻🤪
Looks like the cold is keeping ol' likey in the warmth of his man cave ☺
I like a challenge🤪
Enjoy the garage stuff TRL, agree with below beer rating for jobs!!! 🍺🍺🍺👌
Excellent job on demonstrating the installation. Beer is always a good assistant. I wouldn't think the K&N filter would have any warranty implications ? I'm guessing "no".
Some dealers may get uptight about it, but I haven't had any issues thus far, and I've installed a few.
@@thelikeablerider8800 fair enough. A dealer issue is probably related to lost revenue due to the need for infrequent air filter replacements. I like K&N filters so I'm going to see what my local dealer has to say. Thanks again !
Mega Suggestion above, Shaun. With using a beer difficulty scale👍🏻 1🍺 ➡️ 5🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺
Noted.....it shall be done!🍻
the rev countner dash display will look slightly different when its been de-restricted so will the smile on your face !
Loved the edit : "Fuc / K&N" 😂
Perhaps you should rate the modifications to your bike in beer symbols. I e. 🍺 for easy, 🍺🍺 for moderate and 🍺🍺🍺 for difficult. I think more than three beers while working on the bike would be unwise! 😁
Like it👍🤣🤣
HELLO FRIEND.
GREAT TUTORIAL!
WHAT TOOL BOX DOES IT HAVE UNDER THE SEAT OF THE XR1000??
CAN YOU TELL ME A REFERENCE AND WHERE TO BUY IT?
THANKS
The Toolbox is from SWMOTECH:
sw-motech.com/bike/BMW/S1000XR/2020/2X99+-K69-/Produkte/Gepaeck/Seitentraeger/Adapter+Zubehoer/4052572222645.htm
It's worth mentioning that it's only compatible with their Pro Sidecarrier pannier system, with regards to mounting it.
Good job , I won't be arsed though too much faffing.
Not the easiest job for sure, and I think it's even worse on the new bike! Saves yourself a good chunk of money on servicing costs mind!
I just got an else seat , Which is a good improvement, but the bike feels a little underwhelming compared to my 2017 .
At least you don't have to remove the gas tank like some bikes
Hey nice video man !
My XR is due to service, need to replace the OEM. Hows the bike doing after k&n filter installation (long term review)
Heard that it allows too much dust into the engine and engine heats up very quick
Let me know your experience
Thanks
Hi
Glad you liked it!
I haven't had any issues with overheating, XR's do run hotter than any other bike I've owned, but they're known for that. Haven't had the filter out since installing it, so couldn't comment on the dust problem you mentioned.
Cracking sound. Did you find out why it’s still limited.
Yeah phoned the dealer, they were sure that they took it out. Obviously didn't work!
I'll need to pop back again, only a 5 minute job👍
Great video, can’t believe how much “stuff” is under there! Which tank bag are you using on there? Would you recommend or go for something else?
Hi Richard
Thank you for your comment!
The tank bag is the SWMOTECH Pro Micro, they have quite a big range, and they are brilliant. I have a video on the full range, check it out👍
Keep OEM filter unless you enjoy rebuilding your bike's engine.
Help me understand why you waste your time watching such content then? Never had such an issue as you described!🤷♂️
Hi I'm interested to know what type of End Can that you used .it looked like it had 2 x pipes .please can you help me .A picture would be great .cheers Linden
Its the Cobra Hypershots, if you head over to either my Facebook or Instagram page (links in the description) you'll find some pictures of it👍😜
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
do u have any videos for removing the airbox, i wnat to install stacks
Unfortunately not on this bike sorry.
No way would leave a filter in for 75,000 miles 😯. Quite the process for a air filter 🤔😎🏍💨💨💨💨💨💨👍🏻🇨🇦
Agreed! Think I'd be cleaning it before then, maybe I can do a follow up video and have a look at it after 20k
You should see the process to change a air filter for a Honda Goldwing. Makes this look a walk in the park.
The 1250's and 850's are a 5 min job compared with this.Thanks.
Did you try the K&N on your first XR?
I didn't no, but on the older bike it should be an easier install👍
does k&n improve performance ? any difference ?
Probably not noticeable for the road, maybe on track.
Hi, have you ever thought of using a mag dish, saving losing your nuts.
I like your style!👍😜
It might be worth considering changing back to the OEM filter as K&N are known for poor quality filtering. There is no real benefit other than being reusable but you don't change it often anyway. Not trying to be negative but just making you aware.
K and n are garbage now
And that information you got from the web…probably a forum or a keyboard warrior that never has used one ?Actual riders that have been running K&N for decades on cars and bikes say otherwise. I have never had an issue with their filters, as long as you inspect and clean as often as you would replace a paper unit. The advantages, nicer induction sound and they are reusable.
I agree👍😜
@@ehiggins7476 Oh well...that totally proves it since you've "never had a problem". You do you and I'll continue not to by K&N filters.
@@thelikeablerider8800 You're a little less likeable now :P :)
Did you do the K&N on your first XR?
No I didn't Matt
@@thelikeablerider8800 ok tks perhaps I will give it a go this spring cheers
It should be easier on the older bike, and less to remove👍
Does fitting a performance air filter and end can not affect your warranty in Germany?
Some dealers may get their knickers in a twist, but my dealer is sound👍
@@thelikeablerider8800 yeah when placing my order the other week the dealer asked about sports exhaust option, I said at €1000 no you’re grand 😂
He did say if thinking of fitting anything yourself just be warned your warranty is void if BMW can attribute any mods not factory or workshop fitted 🙃
Oh what a jobs worth!🤦♂️
@@thelikeablerider8800 🤣🤣🤣👏🏼👏🏼
How you getting on with the new wheels, missing the Duke at all?
I'll always moss the Duke, but I'm glad to be back on the XR👍😜
@@thelikeablerider8800 got any trips planned for this year?
For sure! 3 weekenders in Germany, and hoping to go somewhere on a 2 week tour, few places in mind but nothing set in stone.
@@thelikeablerider8800 I've heard the border between Ukraine and Russia is lovely this time of year 😆
Plenty of action there🤣🤣
