Hi Kate, interesting life back in the day huh,no school bus,no football team ,no parent teachers meeting ,no homework, Kate see what you miss LOL,thank for the historical tour ,bye Kate from Texas 🤠👍
Thank you so much for the tour of the school I just loved it and seeing the Picture of the students your Grandpa is funny he remembered so much your Farm has so much history I love it and the Bell that was on the School so awesome cool rocks Kate
Looks like my dad's old school house in Burlington colo got to see all the grades go there even cut wheat and milo on a 55 in 62 never forget to bad it wasn't in the cards for me to farm family still farms land that was homesteaded still get gitty when harvest comes

The school house video brings back some wonderful memories. When my parents went to school back in the 1930's and 1940's they had in school a desk with an ink-well in the right corner to dip your fountain 🖋️ pen in before you would write on the paper. I think ball point pens came out in the 1950's.
Thank you Kate for making this school house video. Please thank your Grandpa for buying the land and building and for preserving the school! I have always thought it a special blessing to grow up with grandparents. Whatever they remember and tell us about extends the time horizon of what WE think of as familiar history. It makes us 'older' young people. For you that time extends to earlier days of dry farming grains, when kids of all ages came from miles around to go to that one-room school. Since I'm older, my grandfather remembered the change from horses to autos in cities and the change in city houses from gas light to electricity. Your grandpa's dad came here from Denmark. My grandpa's dad came here (as a young boy) from Norway. You are an intelligent young woman, well-spoken and curious. Maybe some day you can tell us more about the way you are getting your education and about the balance between town and farm in your own life and for the young people you know. Whatever you show us about farm life in Montana is a joy.
Listening to Grandpa's stories are so fun. It's great hearing all the history. I think you do such a wonderful job Kate. You have one heck of a snake alarm lol
Oh my goodness, that is just the sweetest thing. How many young women are this graceful nowadays? My kids are pretty good too, but man, when I was 16, I was a hooligan!
Thank you. My mom is pretty neat. She said it is my channel and she likes to help out but she is camera shy. If we get to drive east you and your family will meet her. We travel everywhere together.
Your enthusiasm for everything you share with your viewers is infectious! Whatever you share in your videos is always uplifting, regardless the topic. You are more awesome and exciting than all the old schoolhouses, tractors, and wheat you share with the world! The world is a better place because of you and the young woman you are becoming! May God continue to bless you and your family!! Thank you for sharing your time.

This is just like my grandfathers school ( Ards Penninsula N Ireland ) My Great grandfather was also school master so grandad and his 6 siblings were very well educated . My great uncle became the British ambassador for China ( inc Japan ) .My great grandmother was blind , she cared for the family with the help of a sheep dog who kept the younger children away from the fire etc. The rusty remains of my grandfathers little childrens s plough lie in another feild . This video takes me back in time Thank You
Went to Whittier Elementary in Great Falls 1961-63 and I remember the wind and the miles of wheat and how beautiful the Rockies were . Love your videos your dad and grandad are great and your a good interviewer .
There was a country school where I grew up. It is not there anymore but I remember when it was there. Some of the other old schools like that went on to become the township hall meeting place. They are still around and being used for meetings. Very interesting video Kate! History is important and it should be remembered! Great video!
I am 57 and I went to a couple of small schools, but not that small. Our playgrounds would be marked as torture or too dangerous for kids and we actually walked, bicycled and even rode horses and later motorcycles to school, no drivers license... We had old tractor tires, concrete tube culverts, swings that stood 20 feet tall and you could fly high when you jumped out. Monkey bars above asphalt... Just danger zones... LOL Loved that stuff. We did play a lot of marbles too. Love you kiddo.
"Today on finding rocks with Kate, we find a cool rock. Will the rocks in next weeks episode be cool too? Tune in next time to find out". Great video as always!
The next time we’re up visiting Great Falls we have to make a visit to the old school house. It’s amazing to see old history like this. My wife’s great great grandfather homesteaded an area in SE Louisiana in the late 1800’s where we live for sheep hearding. At one point he had one of the largest flocks in America at over 5,000 adult sheep. The original farm house and few old barns are still left on the property but they are in poor condition. All of that land for raising sheep is gone now and everything has been replaced with roads and houses. One of the uncles keeps about 20 sheep and every Year the first Saturday in May they do a traditional sheep shearing. It’s great event for young ones to see it all. I’m afraid when this generation is gone that tradition and the sheep will disappear. Enjoy your life on the family farm and keep it alive. You doing a great and wonderful things with your channel.
That picture of all those schoolkids is absolutely priceless. Just think of what the Good Lord created inside of everyone of them, and the interesting lives they had since then. You can see the individual personalities in each one of their faces and their body language. Every soul has a story to tell.
Nice farmland - not many rocks and good soil. Saving a piece of history is important, so it is great to see that the old school house was moved and not torn down when the new road was built. You always find something interesting to cover. ThanX Take it Easy ... MarK
Very nice piece of history. It would be nice to get it cleaned and arranged to show what it looks like. So nice they ran dances there. Dances were a way to keep people socializing in the old days. The big black board is because in the old days they had one teacher and one room and different groups of students. Teacher would be writing for grade 3 on one side, get them to start doing some work and proceed to write and teach grade 4 group of students. Dad told me about the mixed classrooms and how that one room made a huge difference for small communities
I enjoyed your Farm School House Tour. I'm glad you were able to save the building even though it had to be moved. Those old school houses hold a lot of local history, and spark loads of imagination. Thanks!
Sounds like your Dad is enjoying being a troublemaker!! He obviously didnt learn much at Sunday School. Good that your Grandma was good at marbles. You dont want a Gran who looses her marbles!!! Nice work, stay safe.
Very nice having Gramps reminisce of times past...myself I started out in a similar school many many year's ago...six grades in one room...thanks for a great video with Dad and Gramps 👍
Thanks for taking us inside of the school house. I've seen it in the background of some of your other videos and always wondered what the inside looked like. It's a cool piece of history that I'm glad is still around.
I attended 1st - 4th grades in a 2 room school house about a 1 1/2 miles from our farm here in WI in the early 70s. That school started back in 1887 and it was still going up until 2013! Now all the kids are bussed into town (Oconto Falls). If you are interested, look up Spruce School WI.

It was in a little town in West Virginia Called Peru . I went to it when I was real young for family reunions . I loved your video thank you for sharing. I love watching your videos
Enjoy your work. Went to several dances and hayrides out to the Diamond Valley School in the early 60's. Say hi to great uncle Dave, a school classmate. Bob Johnson
A very nice piece of history! We own a farm in Southwest Minnesota and have the one room rural school which was known as District 38 in Yellow Medicine County. This school was established in 1880 and was closed and moved to our farm site by a previous owner and was used as living quarters. This rural school remains on our farm and the interior remains much like it was with the exception of furnishings. It has been updated with sheet metal on the outside to preserve the building. The building still has the original lights that were placed in the school when they became available. My husband attended school in this building for Grades 1-6 in the 1940's. Lots of good memories of rural schooling and a much simpler approach to education.
Thank you so much for your kind comment and wonderful story!!! That is so neat to know and super interesting. I'm very glad you are able to keep your school house too!!
Cool video, history is so important in all our lives, that black board was so long, the older generation always have some interesting stories about the past
You're doing a great job. Glad you are getting history from your Grandpa. That is something that will make your family richer than money ever will. Money comes and goes but history is always there.
You should be proud of your community for saving that building. So many have been lost around the country. My father went to school in one with former Speaker of the House , Carl Albert. It only went to the eighth grade , he got to go to High School because the Alberts had an empty seat in their car. A tornado damaged the building and the Rural Fire Dept sits there now.
Thank you so much. What a neat and interesting story. It is sad that a lot of the old school houses are gone. Ours is one that survived and I am very thankful for that.
Good video. !! Good to record some of your family history like that.... My Dad went to school in a one room school house, 7 grades all in the one room. :-). Pennsylvania Dutch country.... Dairy farming and had to walk to school.... :-).
I went to a school much like this in eastern Montana in the 1960’s ,from grade 1 - 8 and it is still standing. It believe it closed about 2 years after I completed the 8th grade. It did not have running water so there was a hand pump outside and we pumped out water to bring inside for drinking - of course, we had outhouses for bathrooms😊
Great video again Kate, what a lovely man your grandad is, i bet he can tell you some fantastic stories, some beautiful blue skies, thanks again stay safe.
I love the video Kate I love your enthusiasm and passion for farming and for old building I would love to see that school house restored it would be beautiful I hope you & your families doing well God bless
good show Kate and Grand pa. My family went to very small schools here in Australia. In the last 10 years I have been to a few of those schools 100th aniversay
Thank you for sharing. I was wondering about the bell so I'm glad you showed that. My Dad went to a one room schoolhouse. My young daughter gets to experience them a couple times a year too. Crazy that there is no winter this year...not good. Thanks Kate.
Thank you for your great comment and story. I think winter is coming because we are supposed to get a bit of snow and 20 below zero weather in a few days.
@ Kate's Ag - Farm to Fashion my great-grandfather built the school house for their "neighborhood" of homesteads outside of Conrad. It was the Erickson School and was on the Erickson homestead near the corner of Erickson Rd & Black Gold Rd. The schoolhouse was moved into Conrad at one point & is still in private use today.
I love they have kept this piece of history by moving it for the freeway and putting a new roof on to keep it in good standing. In the little farm community I grew up in, the old school house was turned into a home and has now been turn into a little restaurant that seats about 15 maybe 20 tops. Keep up the good work.
Thank you for your kind words. That is really a great idea to repurpose an old school house. A little restaurant would be fabulous except we have no people out here. I just love the idea.
I went to a one room school when I was a kindergarten and first grade in Gaines Township, MI in 1962 thru 1964. Not sure when it stopped being used. Stood empty for many years but is gone now, I do have a memory of the teacher saying oh look David is eating paste doesn't he look cute. So we looked and all started eating paste cause I guess we didn't know we could do that. Then the teacher got mad and yelled at us to stop eating paste. As I got older realized she was trying to embarrass him. But 5 and 6 year old's wouldn't understand that. LOL! Thanks for the memories.
This video is awesome! You cracked me up… I hate snakes too, love finding rocks… you’re dad and grandpa are great. I admire you for what you’re doing. Thanks for sharing this.

Thank you so much for your kind words and great story!!!
Wow that is really neat! Thank you for your great story!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great Family.
Thank you so much!
That is a REALLY isolated area. WOW!!
Thank you for your comment!!! Yes we are kind of at the end of the earth in Montana! That is why they say it is the last best place!!!

@@KatesAg Same here, bit of snow then about 20 below too in SE MN. Hoping for more snow.
THE SCHOOL 🍎 IS IN GREAT SHAPE 👌😊
Yes, thank you.
Thank you for your terrific story!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@@KatesAg Your videos keep me attached to my roots. Keep on filming.

The old school needs a coat of paint, loved the stories, cheers kate👌
Thank you for your wonderful kindness and yes it needs some paint!!!!!
We love history 👍
Thank you so much!!! History is awesome.
@@KatesAg That does ad a challenge. This is only like 5 miles out of town so it's easy for everyone.
Kate, someday you will be so glad you documented this information. This is a great vid and shows your amazing storytelling talent.

LOL Thank you!!!
LOL! Thank you for the great story and kind words.
