Nice to see the older radios,I messed around with cb in the 1990’s here in Holland ,I had a president Lincoln with an Antron 99 antenne and extra power 😛 and when conditions were good worked Australia in the mornings and the USA in the afternoons… sometimes on ssb ….which was totally illegal and great fun….just found your TH-cam channel….my sign was AT 315 …but can’t remember what the prefix for Holland was😝
Looking forward to more videos 👋

    $45 for a brick of .22??????
Last brick I bought in 2006 I paid only $8 for it!

That is what happens when inflation meets supply chain issues. $45 is a great price now a days.

Butler Hamfest is tomorrow , been about 10 years since I've been there and decided to make the trip this year after your part 1 video. Keeping my fingers crossed that I come across a decent priced beam. I think my oldest son is going to have more fun than me though , he loves listening to shortwave and got a nice start to his collection with a Arvin 51 , Sony World Orbiter and a Panasonic RF4900 . He's to bashful to talk on the air , but I'm trying and got a couple extra radios for when he's ready.

Cool man, love that you're buying cheap rigs purely to give away, that's really generous!

A hint at how to control your gate from within your house so you don't have to go outside. Try and find a DTMF decoder board that can be programed with a four digit code. Get two really cheap portables and program them up on one of the DOT frequencies used for cheap business comms. Interface the decoder board to one portable and power it up through a battery eliminator that plugs into a cigarette lighter. Hook the output of the decoder board to the switch input of the gate controller board (best to find a decoder board that uses a relay output) when you transmitt on the portable in your home and punch in the right code the gate will open. These radios have a range of at least one mile.

Nice video, and I agree about the cheaper (cost) radios that you can pass on because everyone can't afford the money some of the radio's cost now like the newer ham radios, even the older ones are a tad expensive for those with limited income (like me) but my G90 does me good. Haven't been to a hamfest in several years, they use to have one in the area (Augusta Ga), but not sure when the next one is happening.

The DX-160 was the SW receiver I owned back in the late '60s a few years ago I bought one at Mobile, AL hamfest great receivers.

they no longer have a ham fest where I live, I only got to go to one, and that was the last one they had. This was around mid to late 90s. They ended up going to a much bigger place but 40-50 miles away.

Great Video! The tailgate and swaps at Orlando Hamcation is really awesome. I spend as much time as I can browsing the tables but being one of the co-chairman doesn't give me much shopping time. If you can make it to the show the best way to get deals is to rent a swaps table and get in before the gates open, there are several yayhoos that rent tables so they can run around gobbling up all the best deals. They walk in with nothing but an empty table and by opening time their tables are full. It's still a great time with tons of great old radios and many other items. Maybe we'll see you there.
