Buzzfeed _is_ annoying a lot of the time, but a lot of these songs did have a lot of haters before apparently 90% of TH-cam's audience graduated from high school.

I do think this list has two types of songs, really popular ones that got overplayed, and awful songs that were always garbage. Party in the USA is a pretty solid song, even though it's fair for some to find it annoying.

I discovered "Timber" like a few years ago, and quite like it, so I guess I just had to luck to not be in the craze when it came out. Regarding "Aséreje", as a European who grew up in the 00s, it's still fucking great. Just played it on a birthday last weekend and it was appreciated a lot.
Aséreje still a bop after all these years. Take me be back to where i was kid going to the beach in Puerto Rico.

The one thing about Friday is that it was never meant for main stream. So it’s a bad song, but it was a song and video made by a kid on her birthday, for her friends. It wasn’t ever set up to be as hated or popular as it was.

I can safely say for most people in their late 20s early 30s, most of these are actually better now than they were then 🤣 and now I’m gonna listen to them all later for a throwback 💖
With me being within that age range, I don't agree that they're any better now. Over time, they could get even worse.

The only thing I found annoying about the Crazy Frog was when after I did an impression of him, some of my fellow school mates were bugging me to do it again and again.
Deep down, I never depised the guy one bit.

Both the Hampster Dance and Cotton Eye Joe were songs I grew up with and what everyone was listening to. I'll admit that when the Hampster Dance first came out, I loved it but soon got over it. And yes, every once in awhile I listen to it.
I strongly advise you check out Cognoscenti Vs Intelligensia by The Cuban Boys.
It's the best sampling of the Hampster Dance site (and was in the running for Christmas Number 1 in the UK in 1999, but wound up coming 4th).
I was gonna comment on how I love those 2 songs, but it seems I'm not alone!

I'm glad Baby got #1 on the list because I couldn't stand when all the elementary school girls sang that out loud on the bus after school and I was hella glad when the last couple days of my senior year came when I didn't have to be in school long and could skip the afternoon classes because I either already took all the exams or were exempt from them.

not to be rude, and i mean this sincerely, you look absurd and senseless saying willow smith has no talent- i'm not sure if you've heard her recent music and her voice these days, but she objectively is a good, if not phenomenal vocalist as of late, and to claim otherwise is certainly a choice. she checks a lot of boxes of having a great voice.
also, while "whip my hair" is nothing outstanding, it's not bad. it's just a fun pop song. and since it's legitimately sang by a 9 year old is impressive to say the least.
this video is flat out hateful and filled with ignorance, while i can't say i like every song on this list, might even despise some actually, i can't act like my opinion is objective, people who look at something and go "i don't like it" then act like it's an objective opinion just never will be taken seriously to me, or most people to be honest.
What's funny is if I was DJ'ing a wedding I would play every single one of these songs. With the exception of nickelback...

I grew up with the Hampsterdance Song and Cotton Eye Joe. Friday has recently become a guilty pleasure of mine lately.

I came of age when Hamsterdance came out, and I only originally knew Cotton Eye Joe from when it was in an episode of Beavis & Butthead, but for over 2 decades I have loved both songs and they never get old.
I liked those songs when I was younger, now not too much anymore. 🤷🏻♀️

I remember the time when Timber came out. It was everywhere, literally, as inescapable as death. Then I realized the true parasitic nature of big labels - pay a ton of money to platforms to play the song again, and again, and again, and again, until it is implanted in your brain like a bullet.

EXACTLY! Another example. 3 days grace, & Shinedown. I like both of these groups, but their latest songs were played at least once EVERYTIME the radio came back from a commercial break. The songs are good, but it's too much.

The original hampster dance song was just a sped-up version of Whistle Stop, from the 1973 Disney animated Robin Hood.
#1 Baby by Bieber, my handicapped daughter has made me listen to that song easily 200 times, EASILY!!! It's a cute song for a kid.

I found all these songs to be terrible except “The Ketchup Song.”
Popular things aren't always popular for good reasons. And hatred wasn't shown very much back then because the world liked to take a more positive look on things, it's only once people started growing up and realising how bad the world can be and that it can get even worse that hatred became more noticed

They sound similar, but it's not entirely accurate. Just because they're similar, doesn't make it the same thing.
@@chrisrj9871 Literally the same thing - there is a part of the whistle stop song that was "spoken" - this is the part of the song that was sped up and sampled for the hampsterdance song. It's not up for debate.
Hamster Song actually used "Whistle Stop" from Disney's Robin Hood. It was the scatting part that got used and sped up.
As for this list, I liked "Rockstar" - it was more overplayed - and liked "Look What You Made Me Do".
As for "You're Beautiful", James Blunt admitted it wasn't a love song. It was about him getting high and then seeing his ex-girlfriend with a new dude at the subway, and he had been trying to win her back before he saw that scene. He admitted stalking the girl!
Does anyone remember when the Crazy Frog "voice" was originally used? Some long dead website that a had a picture of a racing car, which was called Insanity Test, where if you laughed at the picture, you were insane; but complicating the test was the sound of a comical motor revving voice that played over the picture.

The Black Eyed Peas were incredibly popular in the late 2000’s, and everyone I knew loved them. I’ve always found them too weird for my taste. Weird can be good for a band, just as long as it isn’t a negative kind of weird. The sympathy I did have for the band vanished when they did their disastrous half time performance.

I actually don’t mind “The Hamster Dance” by Hampton The Hamster and “My Humps” by Black-Eyed Peas. It’s “Take On Me” by A-Ha that gives me the willies, especially after they played it on the radio almost every hour when I worked at Walmart!

Aren't the most hated should be the ones that flopped?!
For two reasons.
1. To make something successful, you have to do something different than everything else on the radio. Some people will like it, others won't.
2. There are always people that think they're cool and free-thinkers for hating on what's popular.
"Look what you make me do" and "You're beautiful" are the only songs that I take out from the list

Honestly if I’ll be honest I did not know that crazy frog even existed until recently, same with hamster dance, I also did not know that song existed either, to be honest, they aren’t actually all that bad if I’ll be honest. So I can accept them, but I may forget them just a bit.

Friday was released in my last year of high school, and EVERY Friday afternoon without fail, someone would have plugged their iPod into the speakers and that song would be playing over, and over, and over. It was so loud you could hear it before you even entered the senior building. I never liked it to begin with, but it got old REAL quick.

Adding insult to injury for Blurred Lines, Robin Thicke and Pharrell Williams got into a lawsuit with Marvin Gaye’s Family for being too identical with Got to Give it Up and lost.
And then Weird Al made the vastly superior Word Crimes which allowed us to have the delightful tune with none of the awful messages, and then it was _truly_ all over for them.

A lot of these songs are actually kinda often overlooked. Some can be annoying ("Selfie," for sure) but others are kinda unfairly hated on. One example is "Friday," (not exactly a masterpiece, but it was really just the auto tune that was the problem). Really, a lot of these are here as something the majority love to hate on, than something hated individually.

I love and frequently listen to most of the songs on this list. Admittedly Friday was snapped the hit I thought it would be when I first hurt my friend singing it, and my humps does get a little repetitive, math to mention I try to avoid it on my phone when it pops up every now and then. Besides this most of the song I enjoy at least once a week. FYI, Axel F used to freak me out quite a bit, but I’ll love it now.
