Thanks for the video, I've been dealing with this for around 6 months. Codes come on about 6 times now. So I'll try this solution tonight.

Sweet and to the point. Helped me pin point my problems location. Good work

Just got the code on my Jeep and I had the oil changed last week. Went out to check the tubing and Bingo - loose connection on top of the engine just like yours. Installed a hose clamp and no more trouble.

I've had this issue for around 2 years now... it's so annoying. I've paid for smoke test, replaced parts. The shops I've been too say over and over that they have fixed the issue. Nope it just keeps coming back time after time. So frustrating.

Check the small evap lines on top of the gas tank I saw a TH-cam video were there was a small crack in it where it was fixed with jb weld two part epoxy.

I’ve had it on my 2015 since it had 15k miles on it. I’ve dropped the gas tank, replaced every line there can be, charcoal canister, gas cap and fuel filler neck assembly, and purge valve. Bought a smoke machine and did my own smoke test and it yielded nothing. Finally I reached out to a local mechanic whom I’ve known for 25 years who does emissions inspections for my state and he told me that Jeeps of that era are incapable of meeting their own emissions standards. In other words there is nothing wrong but I will never be able to pass smog ever. I’ve driven around with no inspection sticker on it for 10 years and 100k miles. It’s ridiculous because he himself had around 50 with this same issue. There should have been a class action lawsuit against Chrysler to force them to update the emissions software in them but they never did.

Same issue here. Every time I replace a part( all Mopar only) the CEL clears then failure returns about 8 weeks later. 3 separate fixes and CEL returns. Also had a smoke leak test done by my garage and no failure detected.

I wonder if the problem could be with the sensor (wherever it is) itself? On mine the leak was so minimal it was ridiculous so I'm wondering if some of the sensors are way over-sensitive.

That's not a possible cause bcz the intake is after the purge sol. So it's not pressurized or monitored. If it is loose it'll set a lean code and you'd have drivability issues. My 456 comes and goes all the time. I'm pretty sure it's coming from the vapor canister bcz I get a fuel smell from there whenever the code is set.

Are you sure there isn't a vacuum sensor on that line? All I know is that it was a constant issue and after I added that clamp the problem was gone for good....basically I'm 100% sure the clamp fixed the issue..thanks!

Does the check engine light go off after its fix?

    • @BubbasWorkshop
      @BubbasWorkshop  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Yes but not right away... It takes three or so drive cycles and then the light will turn off. Basically if you drive it normally it should turn off after a couple of days. You can also just get a code reader and clear it... Harbor freight sells one that's pretty cheap.

I had same code but the gas cap on mine was loose.

Just got this code on mine. Gas cap is fine, that hose you have the clamp on is tight as can be, and the nipple coming off the gas tank is not cracked. So I don't know what the issue is. I currently have P0441 and P0456

If you can trace the lines and see no leaks at the valve or on the manifold (where mine was) then I'd put some grease on the gas cap o ring and see if that fixes it. If you can't find the leak it will probably be "dealer" time as they will probably do a "smoke test" to find the leak (or faulty part).

What’s the name of that hose piece? Dealership doesn’t know

    • @BubbasWorkshop

It's the house that connects from fuel vapor canister to the manifold

Grease in rubber parts? Horrible idea.

The fuel cap seal is ok (it's designed to deal with fuel) 👍
