What is your opinion of Arthur and his knights being connected, in some way, to more ancient deities? I've hear it mentioned these heros might have been ancient gods long ago. One source I can think of is Charles Squire with this idea. I ask merely to learn more about his pre christian origins. Thank you
Although I’m sure there is some pre-galfridian tradition in the Mabinogi, it’s curious you confidently state this is the ‘older’ tradition of Arthur, despite existing manuscripts being later than HRB; especially without a mention of a possibility Geoffrey’s older source. Not an uncommon bias to have, but it’s a shame to see the continued neglect of Geoffrey’s work and a thousand years of British tradition.
