      @Brigand231 2 ปีที่แล้ว +12

While they can break player-made objects, they usually only do that if they know there's someone there. It's quite possible to exist in an infested area if care is taken to be quiet and stay out of sight. The main challenge is to ensure you're not detected as you enter.

The Louisville mansions they just added in the newest patch are probably the coolest places i've seen to base up. Like the ones deep in the city, not on the water front. Most of the houses have tall fences around them on 3/4 sides and all the mansions are LOADED with loot. Some of them even have infinite pools of water you can draw from. Sadly, none of the online maps have updated with them yet.

My gf and I made our base in these 3 warehouses in the upper Northwest corner of Louisville. We fenced off the big area, using the pre-built fence to our advantage, and we renovated the smallest warehouse into our living area. It's a nice little hideaway surrounded by a lot of wood pallets and metalworking tools for initial building, metal shelves, 300 or so batteries, two parking lots for us to stock up on cars/gasoline, and SO much storage space. We plan on fencing off even more so we can start a farm once the winter is over and to give us safe access to the river.

An even more ambitious spot I was looking at was the gated community to the left of the base @2:30 . You could in theory block off the 3 entrances and turn it into a safe town. Unless it's too big of an area to stop zombies from spawning.

Small fire station in south-east of Louisville. Its main advantage is that several windows on the second floor lead to a fully fenced part of the building, that is, you can hang rag ropes down, completely barricade yourself and not be afraid that someone will tear them off. Despite the abundance of residential buildings, there are few zombies here, and you can get to the northern part of the city by car in a minute. Also it has roof access so you can create a small farm and place some barrels here. As for me, this place is almost perfect for a solo player.

The golf course club house is perfect. Iron fence between you and the city, wilderness on the other side, with water deeper into the golf course. Lots of room to renovate inside, parking lots next to you, and across the road is the train lot, massive parking lot, a hospital, and a gas station. It's an extremely central location in the city so you are never too far from anything. I always make my base there.

I'm pretty sure zombies won't break fences that exist at the start of the game. If you didn't build the fence they will never destroy it. So the other houses with a fence all around are just as secure as the one with the second layer of horses around it.
There would be other advantage though. Having all those houses and fences would let you hop fences and do recon before going out into the infested areas pretty safely.

The 3 walled-off houses you mentioned as being maybe the best ARE very good, you are right. I have noticed that when you have extra heli events (I use the expanded heli events mod too) they do regularly get swarmed by Zombie respawns following the noise of the choppers, and make you have to actually do base defence against hordes. A plus and minus in my mind. The gate that I build in that chokepoint has been destroyed so many times in my game. I have to do regular excursions for hinges and door handles.

  • @LuisPichichi

In the police station and prison there is a indestructible fence with no gate so it cant be broken into the only way zombies can get to you is jumping on the prisson roof from a window on the second floor of the police station and the dropping on a 1 tile space

Personally I really like the high-rise apartment building with the garage, it is a relatively easy to block off location with a few walls and some harmful barricades to prevent zombies from accessing your home, it has plenty of space to reside in and you can destroy the ground floor stairs and have a sheet rope to access the upper building, making for an excellent safehouse.

The Fire department in the east:
-fantastic loot spot very near it, a gas station not far as well.
    -garage door & massive garage
-you could use the tall fence of the tennis court to make it 100% safe really quickly.
-edge of the map there aren't that much zomboid around
-don't need to build stairs: you can steal a metal drum at the louisville checkpoint, use the helipad to plumb a sink early on and don't need to worry about water even if you re level 3 or 4 carpentry at the time. You can also farm on it.
-generator near in the concert area
cons: there is an ungodly amount of zomboid in Finnegan Research Group, but it's a good challenge. I says it's a con but it's a plus: it's a lot funnier than the spot given in this video.

as someone whsoe been playing the game since 2014, in my first spawn in louisville, clear it out game (i avoid guns so this is a much longer ordeal) i chose construction worker, my usual go to, and got the construction yards near the mall to the east, so i got to the 3 gated mansions, set up a main base there, and have been slowly working my way inward, killing most zombies i see, ive set up small safehouses (no stairs, secured first floor, but no outer walls, just temporary homes incase of emergency), and i intend to slowly make my way into the city, looting every building, every individual apartment, and even take over the 7 story building, turning that into a final mega base. Also the fences you mention at 3:40, those cant be broken by zombies, unless a major change just came out, so that entire central area is securable by a few fences and a gate

I hit up that 7 Floor Penthouse in the center of Louiseville that people were mentioning. If you test around the River Road to Louiseville, it's not that nightmareish. The locations of PZ have scaling zombies. 1-5 here, 20-50 there. If you've experienced Mulrdraugh, the River Road in Louiseville is about roughly the same. Anywho, it's pretty boobs because it's just 1 staircase to knock out. Tons of area for sheet ropes. Only downside? Once you get to those stairs a frickin' MASSIVE horde of Zoomers just start pouring out. But once you clear the place out, it's got quite some security. And with being in the center of town - possibilities are endless.

  • @Brigand231
    @Brigand231 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

My favorite spot is the UStorit about 2-3 blocks East and a block North of your last suggestion. It has a double gate outside on the South end and a window to demolish and replace on the North side of the main building. Once those two entrances are addressed, you can do a lot with the building and storage areas. I usually break out the West wall on the top floor and put my rain collectors there. The car lot just South of it is a great source of parts and mechanical practice too, and on longer games it can be secured (double gates on the West side) and used for a huge garden - I often build at least one pedestrian bridge over the street between the two lots and shoot zombies from it. Alternatively, just start small on the scrapyard if you want, there's a little shed in the NE corner that will serve as shelter while you formulate your schemes and plans. There's a forest and construction sites immediately to the East for wood and when you feel brave, the mall is just a block or two North.

I've actually seen a 100 day Louisville survival run that used this base idea at 3:20. he didn't even gate the front of the street or barricading the surrounding houses, he just ended up clearing out the houses, he just used furniture as a make shift barricade

  • @redphienix

My last few runs have holed up in the houses you showed along the river (the high end ones in west Louie) and honestly? On default zombie spawns that entire road REALLY struggles to repopulate.
You often have a pretty hectic initial fight as you clear out your house or the entire road, and then you end up with one of the most quiet places in louie, definitely one of my current faves since they give you so much built in fence protection, infinite water, and you're RIGHT THERE in terms of getting to the action.
The third and seventh houses starting from the bottom going up are my go-to, but I had a coop run hole up in the triple garage house to much the same effect despite being much more north along the road, nice place.
Just be careful not to get cocky and assume the quiet street is reflective of nearby looting locations. Losing a character because I assumed the entire area was quiet was rough; From the nearby apartments (that spawn generators out the wazoo!), to the elementary, to even the nearby office buildings- the second you leave the street the spawns remind you of where you are lol
Nice stuff, been enjoyin' these overviews of various Knox finds :D

Just southwest of the Baseball Stadium is an office building with many floors. It's not hard to wall off the outside with doors and wood walls between the outdoor pillars. Take out the first floor stairs, and you can set up multiple rope ladders to the ground. Roof top is wonderful for a garden. I survived four in game ears at this location with exceedingly little trouble.

I moved into the fenced in military area with the burned out towns, they’ve got areas inside that’s basically secure as secure can be with no way for them to really find their way to you, the only issue is the lack of water access but that’s not much of an early game issue, I mean come on I get a generator and a bunch of guns in there all I needed to do was find food and water and bring a fridge and tv with a grill over and now I’m set for success. When I play zomboid I’m always strategizing and being in control of the border of Louisville is now my goal, a goal I’m already working on, my long term unobtainable goal will be to over time clear Louisville with pure firepower and sheer willpower.

I suggest the train yard more for a better choice, you can get lots of tools form the hangers, the parking lots is not far form the place, it have a small container office that had a fridge and a microwave, the control tower had a radio and tall enough to be not heard by zombies, gigamart is just 30 seconds drive next, there is a garage just west of the entrance, it is walled off, and that you have a very large plot of free space to build, and you have multiple exit that is not consider suburban area so less zombie would be spawn there. Just don't go near train station and build some rain collectors then you should be okay.

I downloaded some Louisville start locations and the first one I got was in a farm next to a trailer on the outskirts of town. Been playing it since and on day 25 I'm just now heading in for loot. I bet I will die by surprise zhombie around the corner

Is it fine to use the Louisville spawn mod? I have never been there because I die because before even leaving the town that I am spawned on

if you dying in starting cities you wont survive there . LV is great but you need to know how to walk around zombies not to fight with all of them . Perfect way to learn it is to walk from westpoint to Louisville.

As someone who has lived in Louisville, KY in real life, I agree, don’t live downtown, Fern Creek, Hillview or J-Town are the more chill areas. 😂

The zombies can't break the tall wooden fences.
I wish there was a mod to make them thumpable and destructible by zombies tbh.

the 3 initial suggestions are trash. A base w/o tall fences around is not a base and why would u build a fence around if u can get a place with it from the start?

The military base is the actual best spot. Entire thing is gated from all sides. Already has front gates and back gates. Zombies simply cannot come inside at all and have no chance to ever.
