hey buddy, if you love to see America then you should check out the Wichita mountains in Oklahoma, a beautiful location and one of the oldest mountain ranges in the world with vast endless vistas and amazing wildlife
4:06 Andre, I used to work at Costco. They deliberately lose money on certain items, so that you are in the store. For instance, you buy your car tires at Costco, and they are losing money on those tires, because they know you're going to be in the store for 2 hours and they will totally make their money back. So literally the Costco membership is worth it, the very first time you buy a set of tires. You save more money than the cost of the membership. The gasoline is usually cheaper than all the other gas in town as well. Many items are far less expensive. For instance, at Sam's club which is Costco's rival, ground beef, is still $4 a pound
9:17 Andre, you have heard of Dunkin donuts, they are famous for their coffee, this is coffee that is supposed to taste exactly like that. That's why they call it donut shop, cuz in America you can't use somebody's actual brand name without permission
My Dad worked at Costco for several years, so here’s some facts: 1. Costco never marks up their products more than 15% above cost. They make their money on the memberships and other smaller income streams. 2. They pay their workers very well. If one works in retail, Costco jobs are highly coveted. 3. They are the second biggest wine buyer in the world. Their corporate wine expert goes to all the major wine events. 4. I think they’re also the biggest seller of organic and keto foods, if you are into health and fitness. 5. Their $1.50 hot dog and soda is iconic. The price hasn’t changed since 1985.
Thank you for this. Also, why are we not mentioning all the free samples? And the fact that most of the world's cashews go to Costco. I remember when a 1.50 hotdog and pop was with an actual can of pop: )
The words fancy and Walmart do not belong in the same sentence. Walmart is actually extremely low end. Hence why it baffles most Americans why Europeans consider Walmart a tourist destination.

If you’ve been to Europe, you understand. They don’t have megastores like this where you can buy everything in one place. It’s like when Americans visit their outside massive markets (like our farmers markets but significantly better) as a tourist attraction.
14:50 sometimes when we don't feel like cooking after being out for a long time. we stop and grab a whole pizza to bring home. it's around $10 at Sam's which on the way home for us.
if you have the money and space (in pantry and fridge/freezer) then costco/sam's is the better choice.. if you're limited on either money or space, then walmart is the better choice.
Andre quick tip: whatever American food you try (especially BBQ)try it in person at a restaurant that makes it. For example those burnt ends are probably good, for a packaged food. Not meant to be anyone's first experience with BBQ. That stuff is mainly to reheat at home for parties or family meals.
"Cornhole" is a beanbag game that became very popular in the early 2000s. Cornhole is pretty consistently played outdoors, mostly by adults (in contrast to many earlier beanbag-throwing games that were mainly played indoors and by children). People frequently make their own cornhole sets, but you can also buy them. The Apple iPhone is significantly more popular than any specific manufacturer's brand of Android phones; but there are multiple manufacturers making Android phones, and only one Apple, so Android phones are collectively more popular overall. I think Macarons are more popular in Europe (particularly in France), than in America. However, as with many things, America probably has some flavors of them, that are not necessarily found in Europe. Like, somebody somewhere probably makes root beer flavored macarons, for example. And I'm *certain* there must be somebody in America selling PSL flavored macarons. The $9 package of brisket is probably a pretty good deal for $9, but if you want it to be amazing like you're probably thinking, you'd need special equipment to cook it slowly at a carefully controlled temperature for hours and hours. I think that's a box of 100 single-serving coffee packets, for one of those coffee machines that brews a single cup at a time. Yes, the major national brands of disposable baby diapers in America are Huggies, Pampers, and Luvs. There are of course also store brands. Adult diapers, naturally, have a completely different set of brands (Attends, Depend, Always, Assurance, etc.) We don't have Costco in my geographical region, but we do have Meijer, so I'm not complaining.
As far as Walmart vs. Costco. Costco is a warehouse, so it's set up a bit different than a regular store. I'm surprised that you guys don't have more of these Costco kinda stores. If I was shopping and heard them...(No membership card) I'd help them with that. The membership is very inexpensive ($25 per year, not monthly) and it's a great place to get in bulk. I worked in our (California Redwoods coast) Costco when they first opened in 1994. Big $$ saver. Best of wishes to u and your family. I think you're an absolute sweetheart. Hope u make it over someday soon. Love 💕 and light 🕯️. ❤❤❤Nancy Kay
Where I am in the Midwest, there are two “wholesale” stores, Costco & Sams. Sams is actually owned by Walmart, but just like Costco. When you buy the membership they normally give you coupons that exceed the fee. Not that you’d want everything the coupons are for, but it helps. 🤷♀️ The brisket was probably $9 per pound.
I went to Costco today and saved $30 on items that were on sale and paid significantly less for items than they would be at the grocery store. You can cover your annual membership fee in 2 trips not 10. The Kirkland (Costco brand) diapers were $34.99 for 100. Pampers would be $44.99 for the same size package and Huggies were $44.99 for 75.
I have a Samsung Galaxy 23S Ultra, and I LOVE IT. My family was split Samsung/iPhone - 3 of the iPhoners switched to Samsung this year!! You couldn't pay me to have an iphone.
I've been a Costco member over 30 years. When Sam's Club first opened here in Orlando a few years later, I had nemberships in both for a year. I ditched my Sam's membership because after 1 year, because there is no comparison in quality. That's why Costco rules the discount marketplace.
You can buy a one day pass to buy. Memberships are a GREAT deal. There is also Sam's club ( which is owned by Walmart), and BJs, which are essentially the same. I shopped at mostly Sam's Club due to its location. Like many Americans, i had a large refrigerator and a second freezer. The quality of everything is great including the bakery where they bake things themselves. I would then go to my local grocery store for the items that i couldn't get at Sams, or i didn't want to buy a huge amount at once. A lot of families share a memberhip. I bet if they spoke about wanting to buy, someone would have offered to let them use their membership. I LOVE my samsung and gave my ipad away.
Yes, I go to Costco for an inexpensive lunch. It’s really good too. People often go to Costco for the lunch, for the free samples and for the rotisserie chicken which are a great deal at $5. I LOVE Costco pumpkin pie too and split them with my neighbor. I love autumn because it is Costco pumpkin pie season. I also buy quite a few clothes from Costco. Good quality at a good price. Between Costco and WalMart I would pick Costco every time and twice on Sunday.
Andre, COSTCO is a "Members Only" warehouse store. That's why it looks "Industrial". Walmart has similar warehouse stores that are called "Sam's Club". Personal membership costs $60.00 per year.
The membership for Sam’s & Costco only cost like 60/65 bucks (per year) and you get a buddy pass to share w/ friends & family. The membership will absolutely pay for itself in a single visit Edit: It’s actually $55 for Sam’s and right now till the 31st of July Sam’s has a half off deal on the membership so it’s only $25! Hope this helps someone out who reads my comment🤗
$55 for Sam's and $65 for Costco for their basic memberships respectively... and you're right one visit just about pays for that. definitely if you make a large trip.
@@mbourque You’re right $55 for the basic at Sam’s & from now till the 31st of July they’re having a half off deal on membership so it’s only $25! Just got mine😊 If anyone’s interested go for it!
André the thing about the armed solo cup is there’s a song by Toby Keith who is a a veteran which you should check out his songs he’s even got American dedicated songs for military
For over 40 years, Costco has sold the hot dog with a soda at the food court for $1.50. They have also sold a hot ready-to-eat- rotisserie chicken for $4.99 for over 30 years. They refuse to raise the price of these items or lower their quality and it's fantastic!
Costco, Sam's club (walmart), and a few other places that look like this are what they consider bulk stores. They require a membership and sell at wholesale prices and sizes. I haven't seen many Sam's clubs around since Walmart started making super Walmart (groceries and items) but I'm sure a few still exist.
Apple probably has the bigger market share in America, but Android is also very popular. I've disliked Apple my whole life, being a PC modder since I was little. So when it was time to buy my first smartphone, I went with Samsung Galaxy, and have been perfectly happy with them ever since.
4:40 nah 27 bucks for a shirt you’re getting ripped off. A 5 dollar pack of 6 from Walmart can last you years. It all depends on your choices of spending money and deals
The cost of either isn’t overly expensive (I’d say for most). It’s a yearly payment to be a member. Under 75/ year. Being vague because I know YT can be sensitive to financial symbols. But the benefit is being able to get things in bulk at wholesale. There’s still things we choose to get at our regular grocery store because it’s cheaper or we don’t need as much, but for the things you want to stock up on, both stores have a lot of pros.
Since people are mentioning both Costco and Sam’s, the biggest difference (at least in my city) is Costco has more organic stuff and a much larger selection of fruits and vegetables. They also have more selection of goods and actively import items on rotation. Whereas Sam’s has basically anything you can find in a normal grocery store but in much larger quantities. Both have food courts. My bf and I have access to both. We MUCH prefer Costco for most bulk things, especially spices and meat. But if we want something like a 14 count mini Red Barron Pizza, we go to Sam’s. Tbh, we’ve only been to Sam’s twice because we really don’t like it that much. But there’s things you can find at both you can’t find anywhere else including between Costco and Sam’s. Both stores have items that are exclusives. So if you want a specific thing, you may have to go to one or the other to find it.
I don’t shop there often, buy I share my CostCo cards (we get two people on each card buy and one card for each of us. I find it really worthwhile. I also like the way CostCo workers are treated (part owners) and the range of first class products. Their Store Brand is Kirkland) and it is wonderful! The other brand name items are not created by the brand just for CostCo. They are Huggies, Ocean Spray cranberry juice but in more commercial sizes. I buy toilet paper every time I do go and keep a stash just in case after the US had the great toilet paper shortage at the beginning of COVID 19, also butter, a
Walmart has a store like Costco. It's called Sam's. There's a membership fee, but you get it back with cash back. So, you get your membership fee back the more you spend.
@@european-reacts- In my opinion no. Sam’s has some items that are good, so if you coming to America, go checkout both. If you find one in one city, you are likely to find the other.
Add 1 to the Beesleys' " Terry's Black' tally lol. Costco is a good deal on some stuff, like any other store. I don't buy enough groceries and other items to make it worth a membership
Costco is leagues above Walmart stores in terms of being a good and nice environment. Very funny to Americans phrase you made there, friend. Burnt ends are beyond delicious and while a bit charred are NOT burned. You need an American size fridge for those juice bottles, which fit in easily. The hot dog and soda special is $1.49 and has been that price for many years. It's a loss leader to get folks into the store.
That must be the first time anyone has ever said "Walmart seems a bit more fancy" LOL Yes, Walmart is a regular retail store, whereas Costco calls itself a "club warehouse store". You have to pay a membership fee, and they sell items in bulk in a warehouse setting. Costco only sells a limited number of items and has far fewer options For example, in Walmart, if you want ketchup, they will have 50 different varieties, each one available in multiple sizes. At Costco, they will only have one or two options, and you will be required to buy two enormous bottles that will last you a year or more. But the cost is often substantially lower than the same amount and type of ketchup purchased at Walmart. It makes good sense for larger families, but less so for individuals buying just for themselves. At Costco, the store's back inventory is held on high shelves immediately above the items, rather than in a back stock room. Normally, you need to be a member to get in, but it seems like they sweet talked their way in. Normally if you go to the exit, and tell the checker you need to go to the membership desk, you can just keep walking and go into the store without a problem. You will need a membership card to buy anything however.
I love Costco and have been a longtime member. The cheaper gas alone will offset your membership dues. I have the executive plan and get cash back at the end of the year which pays for my renewal. You can tell the staff is better paid and treated well because it is reflected in the service you get there. I enjoyed this.
Your question about people stopping by a Costco to have lunch - I don't think that's a thing, because Costcos are not in town, they're usually on the outskirts so you have to drive a ways. However there are those lucky people who work close enough to a Costco to go have a 1.50$ hotdog and drink with free refills. The parking situation at Costco is prohibitive to people dropping by for lunch. My parents' Costco in Seattle (the birthplace of Costco) is on a bike trail along a river so you don't have to endure the parking headache. And I have no membership so I just borrow my mom's Costco card. I guess eventually you look enough like your parents that it works. Costco really hates this scam but I'm only rarely in America.
Those all-beef Costco hot dogs are amazing. They transcend all other hot dogs. You can buy a pack of them at Costco and make them yourself on your grill/pan and they are just bursting with flavor. They're so flavorful we feel guilty eating them at the airport on our way home to Europe, because they stink up the place. Not nearly as bad as the Polish dogs they used to sell, which for some reason they stopped....???? Anyway I don't like hot dogs, but I love Costco hot dogs. I live in the sausage capital of the world, and I miss Costco hot dogs so much.
I've stopped just for dinner before. One slice of pizza and a drink is all you need. I leave stuffed and don't even spend $3. There's literally nowhere else you can get that value. It's like stepping back in time.
I've never heard anyone describe "Walmart as "fancy." 😆Costco is a warehouse wholesaler where they sell items in bulk. That's probably why it feels more industrial.
Years ago. I read an article about a Dollar store opening in a small town. One of the new shoppers liked it because, "You don't have to get dressed up like you do to go to Walmart."
Costco’s cash cow is their membership fees. That’s where they make most of their money. The second biggest money maker (I believe) is the Kirkland Brand toilet paper.
Never would i have thought the words "fancy" and "walmart" would be used in the same sentence. Haha and Yes we have pampers nrand diapers here. Huggies is one of the major brands (I want to say Huggies, Pampers, and Luvs are the most popular big brands? My niece's brand is huggies. We actually do experiments at home with different brands of diapers and different varieties before we landed on the one we use for her who is very sensitive. We use a shot glass of water on each diaper and feel them. Wait and feel again. Then try another shot glass and repeat. Its amazing how even ones advertised to stay dry just didnt do it. Huggies Skin Essentials seems to work best for her for now. But i always enjoy the diaper experiments... Which are likely over now unless her sibling in the works has different needs).
I've been a Sam's Club member for over 20 years. I like their produce, bakery and fresh products. I love shopping there. It's a great place to shop if you have kids. Diapers and wipes are worth the price of a membership.
Costco does not waste money on fancy displays but instead has quality products. Kirkland Signature is Costco's store brand (Costco started in the Seattle area and Kirkland is a more affluent suburb.) Unlike other store brands Kirkland Signature is always good quality. Their target customers are upper middle class so quality is important to them.
Hi Andre, the confusing item of the 100 donuts or coffee was probably actually 100 K cups (for a Keurig - they are coffee pods that would make 100 cups of coffee). I don't think I would quite describe Walmart as "fancy" but sometimes it's not bad. Things can be pretty affordable, and they often have decent items. It depends what you're looking for. In general, I think Target is the nicer one, Walmart is fine, Costco is bulk items. As for the Puma and Adidas that you noticed, they usually will have some items, but not a wide selection. Inventory can vary.
Don't feel bad. There might actually be people who divide up their drinks by color, so people don't get something they don't want. And when you have your parties, you can do it any way you want. You might look up drink markers and see what comes up. They started with wine markers that went around the stem of the glass and, of course, people ran with it.
Generally speaking Costco has better prices per unit. If you are regularly buying for 5 or 6 or more, you definitely want a Costco membership. The membership can also be helpful if you preserve a lot of food like canning or freeze drying. For just 1 or 2 people bulk perishables may go bad before you have a chance to use them all. "Kirkland", Costco's store brand is generally higher quality than some other store brands. I dropped my membership because I live alone and the nearest Costco is about 40 minutes away.
I finally tasted a Costco hotdog! It was SO GOOD! Quality, quantity, tasty, meaty, juicy, hanging off the bun! The soda was strong, cold, and not watered down! It was the best hotdog I’ve tasted in years!
You can go in and look around. However you can not buy unless you have a member that has a card and pay for you. Then you can pay them back. If you are an American, you can go in, look around, put stuff in a cart and go over to join right then.
Costco membership is so worth it. If you get the Executive Membership at $120 per year, you get 2% cash back in every purchase. My parents used to spend $8000 a year at Costco just on groceries, and would make enough on the cash back it’d pay for the membership and they’d have extra left over. Some pair that with the Costco Visa card with 4% back, and you have a huge incentive.
To answer your question about eating brisket from Costco as your first choice experience: no. Go to a restaurant and do it properly. Brisket is traditionally a low quality meat and it’s only by smoking it for 12+ hours does it become the sumptuous meat that you want to eat. I don’t know what kind of corners they cut to get the brisket to be mass market and sold in a freezer aisle.
the costco lunch is definatly a thing. If you have a membership and some time - you don't even have to buy anything - there are samples being prepared all over place - you can just walk around and graze on samples. no need to buy lunch. Costco is an institution.
I wish I could have a Costco closer to my home the nears one is like 45mins away but we do have a Costco distribution center in town which people can work at.
Now you know why Americans are big. We love costco. The macroons are french and GOOD. They are not dry like we usually get them in the us. I get the pre cooked meat stuffed bell peppers that costco makes. It's where you buy things in a bigger bulk that's how it is inexpensive. I love that place but I would be fat if I went there all the time.
Android > IPhone imo because IPhone is much more limiting in what you can and can't do with it.. well you can usually but you'll need some work-a-round to get it done. Donut Shop Coffee brand of coffee- their standard blend is made of Arabica beans. It's normal black coffee, just very popular.
André, Walmart is not a direct competitor to Costco. Costco is for bulk buying. Walmart has Sam's Club, which sells in bulk much like Costco. You should watch a video about Sam's Club.
Costco and Sam's are wearhouse stores and sell bulk items or large quantity sizes. I have only ever had an android cell phone cheaper than I-phone and works great.
Do not try the brisket just go to a barbecue place youll get alot better flavor and most people get a membership and several family members will go with the card holder to shop in bulk
What Costco doesn't spend on decorating or clothing racks or any number of other fanciful fix-ups is translated to the lower prices they are able to offer the consumers .

That was a game called cornhole it’s a bean bag you toss into the hole on that board from 21 steps away while being in teams of two
I don’t shop there often, buy I share my CostCo cards (we get two people on each card buy and one card for each of us.
Better than costco?
That must be the first time anyone has ever said "Walmart seems a bit more fancy" LOL
Yes, Walmart is a regular retail store, whereas Costco calls itself a "club warehouse store".
Walmart is NOT fancy at all. It’s inventory is typically cheaper or standard items. Plus, their stores aren’t always clean or tidy.
I love Costco and have been a longtime member. The cheaper gas alone will offset your membership dues. I have the executive plan and get cash back at the end of the year which pays for my renewal. You can tell the staff is better paid and treated well because it is reflected in the service you get there.
I enjoyed this.
Andre, the Blue Angels are flying over my house right now. They are here this weekend for the Cherry Festival here in Traverse City, Michigan.
Walmart's copy of Costco is called Sam's Club. The membership is $50 for the year.
Donut Shop is a brand and they are coffee pods like for a Kurig coffee machine.
Just a fact, Nike is an American brand named after the Greek goddess of victory,Nike. Nike is pronounced _ny-key_ 😊
Walmart has it’s own version of Costco called Sam’s Club.
I've stopped just for dinner before. One slice of pizza and a drink is all you need. I leave stuffed and don't even spend $3. There's literally nowhere else you can get that value. It's like stepping back in time.
Costco is great if you have a family, or are regularly supplying a group of people.
I use samsung but that's only because it's more sturdy of a phone.
Here there is Costco, Sam’s Club and B.J.’s Wholesale. They are all comparable.
Costco’s cash cow is their membership fees. That’s where they make most of their money. The second biggest money maker (I believe) is the Kirkland Brand toilet paper.
The pizza slice is $2, and the hot dog is $1.50 and comes with a free drink with unlimited refills. So $3.50 total.
I can still go to my 7-11 and get 2 hotdogs for 1$ and a slice of pizza for 1.50. Those prices aren't really cheap, just cheaper than some places.
** Work at Costco. And YES, we do have many people just stop in to try the Samples, and eat from the Food Court, for their Lunch Hour.
It is 100% worth the membership. I am single and I get tons of value out of it.
Cosco is like walmarts sams club the membership is cheap and its great for bulk and they have Nike adidas and other nice brands for cheap
I finally tasted a Costco hotdog! It was SO GOOD! Quality, quantity, tasty, meaty, juicy, hanging off the bun! The soda was strong, cold, and not watered down! It was the best hotdog I’ve tasted in years!
Walmart has a similar store called Sams Club.
It's 100 count Keurig K cup pods per box
You can go in and look around. However you can not buy unless you have a member that has a card and pay for you. Then you can pay them back. If you are an American, you can go in, look around, put stuff in a cart and go over to join right then.
Apple can kiss my...
Android user for life.
Ditto. Droid Family gather here!!!
Same. Hi Droid fam!!
Walmart has their version of Costco called "Sam's Club". I belong to that. Same exact concept! Also has the hot food .
We have SAM'S which an arm of Wal-Mart which just a good or better products. These are both warehouse clubs with low profit margins.
Andre, Costco has a store in Seville, Spain, that's not too far from you.
Rent a van and make it a day trip.
That was just a brand of regular coffee for Keurig coffee makers.
Donut shop is the brand name. It's was a big box of coffee
I wish I could have a Costco closer to my home the nears one is like 45mins away but we do have a Costco distribution center in town which people can work at.
Walmart is a department store. Costco is a warehouse.
true, makes sense.
As a single person, I buy sauerkraut, kombucha, and toilet paper. Sometimes I buy other things like popcorn and cereal.
I’ve never heard fancy and Walmart in the same sentence before. 😂
Really? Oh wow.
Exactly. I avoid Walmart.
Burnt ends and brisket are amazing, but I'd suggest you get it at a restaurant. Pre-cooked/packaged food is never going to do the flavor justice
Walmart has sam club same as Costco
We went to the original Price Club ( now Costco) in 1976 in San Diego. It is still open.
André, Walmart is not a direct competitor to Costco. Costco is for bulk buying. Walmart has Sam's Club, which sells in bulk much like Costco. You should watch a video about Sam's Club.
We go to Costco all the time for the lunch. It's cheap and delicious!
Costco and Sam's are wearhouse stores and sell bulk items or large quantity sizes. I have only ever had an android cell phone cheaper than I-phone and works great.
love costco. i'll grab cornish hens or burgers to throw into my air fryer on days i just want to chill.
Grumpy Grandpa here. Sam's club. Another store I never went to.😂😂😂😂
Do not try the brisket just go to a barbecue place youll get alot better flavor and most people get a membership and several family members will go with the card holder to shop in bulk
The prices are above the products. People keep mistaking which price tag they are looking at.
Hahaha! Trust me, WalMart is NOT fancy! It’s the furthest thing from fancy.😂
Its not doughnuts, its doughnut shop coffee pods! but a very good deal!
What Costco doesn't spend on decorating or clothing racks or any number of other fanciful fix-ups is translated to the lower prices they are able to offer the consumers .
