    Up where I live in Michigan a local Amish rolls metal roofing. While getting my roof made he walked through his entire setup and allowed my daughter cut a sheet. Made her day. He has been in busy for 25yrs now. His quality is better than the store roofing and can get it ten times quicker too.

    This is a good book. Does provide a step by step introduction to how to build things th-cam.com/users/postUgkxhgbP-6hUnXu_QRaoHgLztgsI0YF3HqR0 , also does offer some steps. Includes pictures to give you ideas for layouts and such. If you are looking for a guide, this is not exactly what you want. But if you are trying to familiarize yourself with the way that pole barn building and other out buildings, are made, then this will work just as you need it to. A few things in this book are a barn (of course), detached garage, storage building, and coops.

    I've noticed the roofers who can't roll form their own panels are just not competitive in pricing versus those who can. When you're buying per-formed panels from someone else you're paying a mark-up. If you're doing standing seam roofing you have got to get a roll former.

    Pretty cool technology and I'm a 100% metal roof devotee...once you've installed it or had it installed on your roof(s) it's really the only way to go for many reasons IMHO. That said, trying to compete with 'the big three' like Metal Sales isn't that difficult to do? Or, would this be more toward a more custom niche? Amazing amazing stuff.

    • @scuph
      @scuph ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Competing with the big three like you said will be nearly impossible. They have shipping contracts and 100s of millions of dollars worth of equipment that make it a lot cheaper to manufacture than you can. Your advantage is that a contractor can come to you with their spec and you can have their order done the next day. People will pay a premium for locality, speed, and relationship.

    • @OceanofMaya
      @OceanofMaya ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@scuph I think you're right:). Yeah, that niche might be really good for some people in some areas and for people who like to 'bend metal' it might be great being ones own boss etc. And, I do think more and more people will move to metal roofing IF the prices can stabilize.
