Great demonstration, I don't think anyone else goes into diagnosing the panel itself to see where the zone problem lies. All of a sudden out of the blue on a DSC panel I have zones 1,2,3 simultaneously showing faults at the keypad where I know for a fact here is no problem with the wiring on these three zones and why all at once?. So now to test the panel unless someone comes up with a brilliant suggestion as to why this is happening - p.s.and wires are not touching one another in the panel.

    hidden gem of a video.
Consider adding EOL to your description. The eol topic is not well covered in general and had not come across it before looking at my acquired alarm system. My acquired gardtec system stumped me have iwise led sensor lights switched off also, and the initially odd 2 non-power line wiring rather than the 2 for tamper and 2 for the alarm circuit

Thank you, this is exactly what I was looking for!

@ecologicaltimeYou know this but for others,
I noted a slightly different take for the eol tamper pir for gardtec. They use a resistor across the normally closed contacts, and the 2nd NC feeds the tamper resistor. This presumably is just another way of achieving he same as the wiring shown of altering the resistance when closed and open pir.
in your demonstration of the reed switch sensor, you did not have a resistor across the alarm circuit. Having had eol wiring just click, unless you have a resistor across the alarm circuit for when it is broken, tamper will simultaneously be broken. That is why you need to have a resistor across the alarm terminals for both reed and pir, to feed the tamper circuit.

Hi there, great video thanks. I've just replaced the battery on my ids 8 zone alarm due to loadshedding. The issue now is zone 1 keeps flashing constantly preventing me from arming the alarm unless I bypass it. Zone 1 is a magnetic contact for a door. Any ideas what it could be?

How would you go about trouble shooting a dsc or honeywell panel with closed zones that dont register as open? I had a job where zone 5 and 6 which are windows wouldnt chime or show open when i opened any window on that zone. Put dsc system had a green check mark. I checked for continuity and all showed to have continuity. So i know its not a missing magnet, and typically it would show open not closed. It was a dsc 1616 it had its green check mark the rest of the zones worked. I even swapped zones to see if zone 5 or 6 was bad on the board, that didnt fix it. Checked programming everything was correct. No EOL on any zone. So couldnt check ohms? Only thing i can think of is bad sensors? only thing i didnt try cause i didnt have the time was to try each window or a small batch of the bad windows to see if certain ones worked and opening each window to test if its all of them or just a few, but i thought if a sensor was bad it wouldnt have continuity but they all had it. THX hopefully i explained that well. Would like some ideas to try next time if i have to go back or run into this problem again.

My new system has open voltage of 3V instead of 5V in all the zones. Is this normal?

My alarm system keeps triggering during Loadshedding is the battery bad

sometimes can do that. The load shedding ages the lead acid batteries in these alarms and the back up time reduces a lot. Then just before the alarm cuts out, it sometimes alarms.
