Installing New Tracks On The Takeuchi TL250

  • Installing new tracks, track adjusters and front idlers on the Takeuchi TL250 loader. I ripped a bar out of the track the other day on the pad job so it was finally time to change them. The idlers were really easy to remove and install, Takeuchi has a really nice simple design for that. I was able to get 2215 hours out of this set of tracks which I was very happy with. The machine now has 7415 hours on it and the rest of the undercarriage is original. The entire job took a little over an hour to do both sides and get it back on the trailer. The forklift definitely makes it easy to move the tracks around. Hopefully I will get another 2000+ hours out of this set. Thanks for watching! #EliteEarthworks #Takeuchi #newtracks

    Nicely done! I think the reason you're getting a better ride and more traction is because you have more breaks in the lugs and smaller lug sections and new rubber is softer and more pliable where as rubber gets older it gets harder and more brittle and more susceptible to cracking and tearing.

    • @eliteearthworksllc
      @eliteearthworksllc  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Clyde Acor thank you! Yes I agree the smaller lugs give a way better ride than the bigger square lugs. And yes it’s much softer now

    Well done - especially working by yourself. You might be interested in something I found years ago (and wish I had found sooner). It's a 6 inch Valeo back brace. There are many brands, of course, but this one is made in the USA. Several people have said these belts are nonsense, but if they try them, they say it's like a miracle when lifting heavy stuff like those idler wheels, etc. The belt is inexpensive - maybe around $30, but they really do work and save your back. They're not really bulky and go on using very strong velcro.

    7,000+ hours on that machine!
    Owner Operator shows on the machine. Over those 7,000+ hours what have you repaiored on the machine I heard (not many in my area dealer is 5 hours one way travel time) the Takeuchi tracked loaders are very good machines (I did rent a TL8 last yuear for a few hours impressive machine) but never hear or read about what repairs are made on them over 7 thousand hours. Some other makes would be concrete rebar imbeded in concrete at 7,000 hours if they ever got there.

    I try to avoid heavy lifting, so I would have lifted the boom and got the front end down. It looks like the bottom of the idler is higher than the bottom of the idlers so there should be room to just slide in the spring then a little schooch with a bar and it'll go in.
    Nice job solo. Try doing that with a Bobcat with a cab. You need someone stuck in the cab operating it because they can't get out.

      Yeah and one was making noise and the track adjusters were shot too

      Nice thanks man. Any idea how much up and down slop you have afterwards? Mine is all of 1/2” and was going to build it back up with some weld on machine side to 1/8-1/4” clearance is my guess?

    • @eliteearthworksllc
      @eliteearthworksllc  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s probably what mine was I just left it cause I suck at welding 🤣
