i had a dream even before i saw this interveiw and i asked tim what should i do to start a band and write meaningful lyrics and he said actatly what he said to always make it come from your heart and put his hand on his heart just like in the interveiw. when i saw it i couldnt belive it. it was the best dream of my life
Supposedly when Tim was a younger kid, prior to Operation Ivy, he overdosed on alcohol and some other drug, and was found by a friend in a state of near death. The slur could be a result of minor brain damage from the lack of oxygen one might get to the brain when you're nearly dead from an overdose. My cousin has always had a lazy tongue (kind of like Tim's speach impediment) from a near death experience as a kid.
@Fallinldols ha. No doubt lol. Or, he asks it in Japanese for the TV viewers, then in English for the band which is edited out and then they sub-title the English answers, again, for the viewers. lol
tim... well he actually copies his style from joe strummer of the clash( listen to the song koka kola from the clash) and he tryes to sound like the lead singer of the pogues. slurring is equivalent to alcoholism , and therefore apathy and therefore being a punk... these singers can get drunk but not reallly really drunk as when they go into the studio, if they were really they couldnt remember the lyrics. so this is just a style u know, of theese guys
tim armstrong is a god. along with darby crash and jello biafra. but seriously i think you can rightly call him a bob dylan of punk rock. and about his slur, who cares? lol. its unique and cool + he's got lots of stories from all that abuse and they're in most of teh really good rancid songs
They have also played in Japan more than a handful of times... I'm sure you do pick up some of the language too. I worked for a Japanese company for 9 months and I could speak very basic Japanese just being around it.
