- In a moving ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan, Smriti Singh, the widow of Captain Anshuman Singh, stood before President Droupadi Murmu with folded hands. Alongside her stood Captain Singh's mother, their shared grief palpable. Captain Anshuman Singh was posthumously awarded the Kirti Chakra, India's second-highest gallantry award, for his bravery during a fire incident in Siachen.

@@Ns9901-b4s They are from different states (Maharashtra and Punjab), different mother tongue, different cultural and social background. If she stayed behind it's good and a sacrifice on part of the wife but it very hard and can be difficult in her later years considering she has no children. She could have stayed if they lived together for several years or had children. It's hard to decide who should receive benefits in these cases where there is no will, so it should be a 50 50 split where there's no children and if the deceased person had children it should be 33 for parents, 33 for wife and 33 for children.
Everybody has fair points so try to understand the other side of the argument to - and that's why both parties should be compensated.
