- Playing piano part with the new Roland RD-700NX - The bass and drums were arranged before hand, very nice jazz piece, got some great (but not friendly) chords. First time playing the song all the way through, using the app 'iReal b' on my phone to reference the chords incase I got lost... brilliant app! Only £5, thousands of jazz pieces available in every key and more.

I've played for as long as I can remember really, currently 19 years old. Heard one note samba for the first time (much faster than this) at a jazz club, and I came and did this video the next day - Great piece! Watching this video now I'm not very happy with my playing at all! Now that I'm much more accustom to jazz playing it's annoying to think how much better I could do now!
Well then, James, in that case, stop being annoyed and record One Note Samba again! The piece is worth it. And YOU, my dear man, are very worth it. What a great talent you are! I love this treatment, you played it really well, especially for having only heard the song for the first time the night before! Are you serious? You're terrific. I'm going to be using this as an accompaniment Saturday for a party I'm giving and I'll be singing to it, in the manner taught me by the great Everett Devan, the great jazz keyboard and Hammond B organist of Kansas City Jazz fame who tried his best to teach me and whom I was honored to know.
I listen to this performance many times over years putting it in my favorite file . Thank you. 🎉

@@scottmiller6495 agreed, it is a tune that can be played as jazz too, but the original rythm is bossa nova
I must change the greatest jazz hit list to my personal favorites: 1. Green Dolphin Street 2. Blusette, 3. One Note Samba, 4. THE Girl from Ipanema, and then the rest!!!!!
Just Wow, this is sooo good! And when you suddenly started to solo over the chords - so delicious! Honorary mention to the descending, ornamented line after the descant episode (2:28 onwards), followed by a short "rumba" piano style section (a little taste of it already sooner)! Way to go!

Its not necessary to re-do this video, because in my opinion you are performing absolutey brilliant. One note samba at its best. I cannot understand why you think this is your worst video. Wish I could play half as good as you.

Very nice, James. You have a great talent. Particularly enjoy seeing piano players use the left hand for comping chords. And your improvisational skills are quite nice. Best of all I could tell you really enjoyed playing that piece and that's what really counts. Cheers!

Okay James you perfectionist lol! So record another updated version. I’m going to sing one note samba at church this Sunday and you sir are accompanying me. My point is that meditation enables us to hear the gaps between the notes; and that’s where the music lives- in songs and in our lives.

@94brian Bossa nova is played in Brazilia and Salsa in Cuba. But theyre quiet simular. Like rythm and instruments are almost the same ;)

Am I hearing this correctly? You are playing this piece in the video one key lower playing the "one note" as G but the note I hear is F. In other words, what I hear doesn't match with the notes you are playing. (I even matched the iReal b chords to your video and the "one note" is an F) Is your keyboard tuned differently? Thanks. BTW, I love your playing of this Bossa Nova piece. Excellent!

This is my all time favorite. I wish it was played with the virtual keyboard that shows the notes. I would definitely spend the time to learn it. I wish there was a way to add the virtual keyboard to piano songs to reproduce the notes being played. I love so many songs on youtube, that I would learn
