I’ve been looking at this for awhile. The pledge levels are very confusing and it doesn’t really show what is included in each one. That’s my opinion and I’m going to pass on it. It seems pricey for what it is.
There are a lot of options, and the game has a lot of jumping in points. I never try to talk people into buying something they've found a reason to skip over, because there's too much stuff out there. I'm always grateful when a campaign gives me a reason to walk away. Just to address the pricey part, I agree that it's pricey, but I don't think it's overpriced for what it is, or a bad value. They are a tiny operation working for the love of it, from what I can tell. Now, I'm a customer and have to be smart with my dollars, but I do appreciate that. But I also feel like I'm getting a good value. As far as components, there's a ton of heavy cardstock. I have to be careful lifting my mega box with both the base game and divine wrath in it. You don't get minis and cardboard, but looking at it all, I have to think they've instead "spent" a lot of time developing an amount of mechanically different experiences that is far beyond what a player expects from any game, instead of spending on components. I feel that what I own is a good value from a gameplay perspective. Not at all trying to talk you into buying, but price is something I feel I should have addressed in the video more than I did, so I'm going to pin this.
Under Falling Skies is an all time favorite of mine! Now this game has placing the dice in clusters, so its more traditional yahtzee, but definitely check out some gameplay videos. Since you're into rpgs, too, the adventure aspect might appeal to you
This looks great, but filtering through available content is confusing. Can you get everything by ordering a Divine Wrath bundle now and backing 2nd edition? Is there any reason to buy 1st edition?
When I looked over the campaign, it did seem to me that you can get everything by buying Divine Wrath now and then buying 2nd edition. No, no reason to get 1st edition. I wouldn't advise getting anything that came out before Divine Wrath. If you like Divine Wrath, get the 2nd edition
Love the video and you have me intrigued.... any recommendations on what to get? What not to get? Go for divine wrath? Or 2nd edition? So many options...
There are a lot of options, especially because there are a lot of entry points and it's not necessarily obvious. You can even play this game with just one of their chapters boxes that has one boss and one hero. As far as to go for Divine Wrath or 2nd edition, I think either would be a solid choice. Check out their site if you go for Divine Wrath, because you could get it now. I don't know about the shipping, though.
@ I do realise another dilemma I have is that this seems to occupy the same space in my head as Aeon’s End! I only have the base game to be honest, so I could go down either rabbit hole haha
hey ryker - hey man I know you didn't ask for this feedback but I just want to let you know I can't listen to videos with artificially sped up voices -

@ right on, thanks for sharing!
Thanks for this review, never played this but interested in the 2nd edition on gamefound.
I love Under Falling Skies! I'll give this game a look. Great insightful review, btw!

Oh man I’m now honestly considering backing this game over Avalon now haha
I haven't looked into Avalon since I only play solo, but I love oathsworn, so I can understand the dilemma!

Actually thanks a lot for letting me know. I didn't realize that was an issue
