Incredible, very talented artists, musicians, and singers from 115 years ago would be floored, or gobsmacked anyone is listening to their delightful music. The first Christmas music, song on the playlist was from 1907.
You know what I did? I hooked up an old phone that I play youtube videos in and connected it to an old zenith tube radio, that is how this music was supposed to be listened to..... Merry Christmas 2019 !!!!!

You can buy a working ol' tube radio with an rca input in the back or, if it does not have it, just buy a FM transmitter and connect it to old cell phone playing youtube video or any music saved on it, then set radio to FM Radio station that will receive transmition from FM dohickey and you are in business !!!! Please, do not forget to unplug old tube radio from power outlet after you are done using it (I enjoy the sound coming from it, but I do not trust the old technology when it comes to fire prevention, it really gets super hot inside tube radio).

The warm glow of those tubes lighting up inside old radio, DO really make a difference on sound. You never know, if you visit a thrift store, you might eventually find an old running tube radio, also, there is ALWAYS ebay...

Christmas in the 70s with Grandparents born in the 1800s was excellent - so good to hear the old songs and as many have stated, what a break from the modernized varieties we hear today. Miss the old folks and the slower times.
I’d rather listen to this than the new stuff! Not much beats the older music.

This is my life :) it'll be 6 years since I moved into my 1925 Craftsman in Salem, Oregon; that's completely intact, except for the kitchen :) my husband and I loving the old days and being raised in Hawaii with Olsen day morals, bought an 1895 Starr upright piano that I play EVERYDAY, with a 1901 Estey reed organ, l. As a surprise he just bought me a 1920 silver tone phonograph and played my all time favorite Charlie Brown song "Christmas Time is Here". Every Christmas we do it old style., no electronics, no WiFi.... Just piano, Reed organ, violin, and (now phonograph too!) With cocoa, cookies, my family by the Wood fireplace as my Aussie shepherd, golden retriever, Pomeranian and tabby cat play on the floor.... Pure Heaven. I wish I could go back in time to the actual 1920's. That's okay, I can bring it into the 2020's. To everyone reading this, have a Merry Christmas ⛄🎄 when that time comes around 💛

I really enjoyed Tommy Dorsey and His Orchestr's infusion of the Big Band sound into March of the Toys. The Big Band sound of the 1930s and 40s is one of my favorite music genres'.

Thank you so much for this! Grandma said Tommy Dorsey and his band would come to town and everyone would go dancing at the Purple Grackle! Mom said Grandma's favorite Christmas song, and Grandma was in her prime in the 1930's, was "Silver Bells."

I really love this - these are versions I have never heard, and I've heard a lot. One suggestion - the Paul Whiteman version of Silent Night should really be listed as accompanied by The Rhythm Boys, as that is who you hear and that the group to whom Bing belonged to at the time. They were a trio as at that time microphones were not used and you couldn't hear a solo with Whiteman's orch - that's why he had a trio. Bing went out later on his own and many think he was the true popularizer and inventor of the microphone voice, called "crooning" - as before then you just sang as loud as you could. He was one of the first to do a popular radio show where he really was able to use dynamics with the microphone with his wonderful, full-range voice. But in 1928 Bing did many recordings as a member of "The Rhythm Boys" with Whiteman - they are quintessential twenties popular hot and I love to watch them.
I was in Home Depot, in the plant section outside, and they were playing some vintage sounding Christmas music over the speakers. So different from the modern Christmas music they were playing just inside the store. Anyway, I came here to settle my craving old style music. 😄

Thank You SO Much for posting. I get SICK of the SAME old rotation on Christmas Radio Stations. No more than about 50 songs. Same old. Same old. Shameful when there's a plethora of options out there from all eras and styles.

I have a double sided Brunswick record called,"Kiddies Patrol"part 1,and "Kiddies Dance",part 2 played by the Brunswick Concert Band,with sounds of toys,the sleigh bells,possibly reindeer and Santa as well,interesting recording.
