Dont know if youve already been to Bergen. The local football team is fighting for the first place in the norwegian top division. Would be awesome to be in Bergen if they win. But if not I would suggest going in every other season than winter. The winter in Bergen is usually just cold and rainy with not much snow

Ahhh man, I miss Norway already, I'm going to cherish this vlog for as long as I live, haha, it was so much fun to edit it and I hope you all enjoy. I had fun making the soundtrack for this as well, it came out funnier that I expected it to be. lol. This brings me back so many good memories from my trip to Oslo and my mother-in-law now has something to take back with her, not only the photos! Thank you everyone who helped me, I hope you notice your comments on screen, without you I'd be lost in Norway! (maybe that would be better, I wouldn't be able to come back, hahahaha)

As a Swede I say Norway are the most beautiful country in the Nordics. Maybe in the world... Stockholm is much more beautiful than Oslo, but Oslo has that vibe I cannot explain, everything in walking distance. Two bad things about Norway: Prices!!! And that they have us as neighbours. Must go more to Denmark. But Finland.... there is where my heart is just now.

And I know the Anker Hotel very well. :) This last weekend I spent on Tøyen, because it was close to the studio. But that was a VERY nice place for a very good price.

Nordic summer is wonderful when the weather is good. Warm enough, but not too warm - even if the sun is scorching. It is fascinating to see Oslo through the eyes of foreigners. Maybe the city is nicer than we think? At least on a beautiful summer day.

Happy late birthday to your wife! 🎉🎉🎉 She's so beautiful! 🤩
I love the music on these videos! 🤩 But you didn't find any cake?? You should have found a 7/11 or Dolly Dimples and got her some cupcakes or some kind of bakery stuff, at least! Didn't anybody you asked tell you that?? Maybe I'm just too much of a cookiemonster that I know where to find that stuff 😂
I'm really glad you were lucky with the weather. Btw. I saw you were talking about going to norway in another video, and asked about how norway is in December. Are you thinking about going to Bergen in December?? 😬 0/10! Would not recommend it! 😬🙈 Or it depends on what you are looking for. Bergen does have pretty christmas lighting, and they have a big ginderbread city that is cool to see. But if you want to experience norwegian winter I just wouldn't recommend any city that is along the coast. The ocean just make those cities like you are walking in dirty slush 😬🙈😬 It's the worst time of year for Bergen 🙈 BUT if you wish to experience what the not so amazing parts of norway is, then that's perfect! 😂
Oh, and this video made me learn something!! It's a myth in norway that the guards in front of the castle do NOT speak to anyone or even acknowledge civilians. So I had to go and ask my boyfriend, who has been a royal guard, if it's not true that they guards are not allowed to look at or speak to anyone. And then he just laughed at me and said, "No, that's not true. That's just a joke the guards do!" 😂 Well, thanks! I belived that joke! 😂

    • @NordicReactions
      @NordicReactions  วันที่ผ่านมา +1

Wow! He was a royal guard? 🫣 only got to read this comment now. Thanks for the info! I still don't know where to go in December, it's my birthday on the 1st and my wedding anniversary on the 26th, not to mention xmas and new year's 😅
Also, it never crossed my mind to ask anyone where I could buy a cake 😅 I'm so used to not speaking to others in public that I forgot that was an option

@NordicReactions I was in London late november a couple years ago, and Bergen in desember us just like London. Just a bit colder and covered in "slush" 🤣🙈
Okey, here's what you do for december; Rent a cabin up in the mountains! Bring a lot of food, in case you get snowed in 🙈🤣 But then you'll get the real norwegian winter experience 🤣🤣

I was a royal guard many years ago as well.
I was in the 4th company.
I stood guard at royal castle many times, and most of the time at the front.
Your video made me remember how often I stood there at night looking at the big Freia sign with it's clock all the time to see how long it was left of my turn and I got a rest.
As far as I remember, was the clock not visible enough in daytime, but it was when it got dark enough.
I must be in the photo albums of MANY thousands of tourists and specially Japanese tourists.
They came in busloads to look at the castle and take MANY pictures.
They also came and asked if they could take pictures with them together with me/us a lot, and of course they got permission.
So they stood besides us alone or in groups and taking turns at taking pictures for each other.
Many was shocked, both Norwegians and others that we talked with them.
We were not allowed to start a conversation unless someone did something wrong, but we could talk with people when they started it.
And the guns are not just there for show.
They are real and we had live ammo to use if needed.
The guards are well trained soldiers that are specially trained to protect the royal family and the government.
One of my father's uncles was in the royal guard when Nazi Germany attacked Norway and he fought the German soldiers to protect our king and the government at that time.
This resulted in him taken pow and he was sent to a concentration camp in Germany because the traitor Quisling had made a decree that said it was treason to fight against the Germans.
I have named one of my sons after him.

The hype is to hate Oslo for no apparent reason except that it is the capital🤡 Most people who do hate doesn’t even live in Oslo🥴 It’s become a national joke at this point to hate Oslo by default as a Norwegian… very jantelov mentality if you ask me. It just shows how small minded Norwegians actually are tho outwardly they love to act all open minded and liberal in fear of being seen as old fashioned, yet this has now started to change and Norway like USA and the rest of Europe going in the opposite direction, the alt far right/right wing, populism and conservatives are taking over. Thanks Trump👹 Norway has a long way to go in terms of equality for all compared to fellow countries like Iceland and Finland. And this is a huge set back. Especially for us who belongs to various minorities. The majority of the Oslo population are people from all over the country, who moved to the big city to experience a different life than the one back in their tiny hometown, village or suburbs, like myself. Here I could be myself, and experience city life. And been here since. I love Oslo. Sure it’s not perfect, and there a ton or challenges, but overall it’s not the worst place to live in, and to me it’s home.

Pre-view comment. In Norway, we don't do prestige and we don't like it. There is no shadow side of Oslo, but there is a difference between rich and poor. At night you will notice that very easily. Walking down from the King's Castle, the rich is on the left and the poor is on the right. There's nothing to fear from the poor, because they're not _that_ poor. The area around Storgata 40 can be a bit dangerous at night, but that's why I like it. It keeps you humble. I used to live in 39, so I know the area pretty well.

As a former resident in Oslo I fled to have peace and to get away from all the drug problems there. It's a sh**hole, sorry to say. Yes there are some spots for tourists (museums and such), but the poor and drug addicts in Oslo suffers like everywhere else. The politicans we got in this country are pitiful cowards and just care about themselves. Also stay away from dark alleys around Greenland area and Grunerløkka. Many drug addicts and dealers around. Stay safe.

    • @The_Judge300

You write pure nonsense and have clearly not travelled much in the world.
And you using the word "fled" when you moved away from Oslo is degenerate writing that shows total disrespect for all the people that really needed to flee from places they lived.
I don't live in Oslo anymore, but I have family that do and I can easily walk the darkest alleys in Oslo at night without any problems at all.
Something you can't say for most capitals, cities and larger towns in the world.
And yes, there are drug addict in Oslo as there are all over the world, and the sad reality is that there is VERY little any government in the world can do when it comes to them.
The reality is that you can't save everyone in the world.
And many are self destructive as well.
But I suggest you visit the poorer areas in London, Lisbon, Madrid, Barcelona, Rome, Berlin, Prague, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Malmø and so many other cities in Europe and see what sort of life they have and how safe it is.
Lat alone in other parts of the world.
My guess is that you are very young and totally clueless about the realities around the world.
