This song brings me always to tears and Andras Schiff is right when he remarks that this song shows by far more depths than anything brought by Richard Wagner. It amazes me also that here are so many with a different mother tongue. An English version would be too sweet. I suffer from the "Ohrwurm (ear worm)" disturbance. Unexpectedly this melody with its moving sad text comes up and signals that my optimistic mood had vanished. Then only David Oistrakh's "la chaconne" or the stabat mater (Pergolesi) sung by Sabina Puertola can bring back happy smiling.
This song is so terrifying. Haunting. Soothing in the way the dark cold abyss of the ocean would soothe your pain. Impeccable and painful at the same time.
Wow...this guys voice is full of flavour, texture, colour and depth! Powerful!

His style is like Laszlo Polgar, loved the interpretation. Voice is clear, bright and colorful.

Lyrics:
In diesem Hause wohnte mein Schatz;
Und ringt die Hände, vor Schmerzensgewalt;
Was äffst du nach mein Liebesleid,
Das mich gequält auf dieser Stelle,
So manche Nacht, in alter Zeit?
Sublime beautiful
I'm going to learn to sing this if it's the last thing I do
Soooo.... HAVE YOU LEARNED IT?
Yes. I just need to gain power on the high notes without my voice cracking
And? It's been a year, have you gained power?
