Not to mention the cheap-looking interior. I have no problem with Leatherette, actually I prefer it over real leather just for the upkeep. But, for the kind of money they are asking for the vehicle, it is ridiculous.
At $58k, what's the point of this over a Lyriq. It's also 1400lbs it's heavier than Model Y, while being $10k more expensive, and having 50 miles less EPA range. Or, the LT you guys showed is basically the same price as a fully optioned Ioniq5 AWD, or ~$6500 more expensive than a Kia EV6 Long Range AWD. $5k more than the Nissan Ariya Long Range AWD (ENGAGE+ e-4ORCE). ~$3k more expensive than the Mach E Premium Long Range, which has slightly more range. ~$10k more expensive than the VW ID4 Pro S. Unless this thing is just amazing when it gets into reviewer's hands for long term testing, and charges like an absolute monster compared to the competition, this seems like a bit of a swing and a miss when you could save a little money and get the equinox EV, or get the Lyriq for basically the same price and get a more premium vehicle
However, the Blazer will actually get or exceed the claimed range. Telsa always exaggerates their range. A fully optioned I5 AWD is significantly more expensive, at least in Canada - $72k (unless you go with the I5 N, which starts at $80k and is actually the top trim). A fully loaded Blazer RS is $69k, while the base LT is $60k.
@@MariuszChr I think it would be better if it were free, yes. However, the data has to come from somewhere and that is never free. I've heard that GM is planning a subscription plan which they will give new owners for free for a limited amount of time. But, I loathe subscriptions and don't want to be forced into a subscriptions in order to use the basic infotainment features on my car. I already pay for data on my cell phone, and Android auto allows me to use that plan. Even if GM gives you 8 years of free service (which is what I hear they plan to do), that is still not acceptable to me. I hold on to cars for a long time, and I usually buy used. Even if I bought the new equinox new and sold it after eight years, I'm just passing the problem on to the next owner, and they won't like that, and will likely not be willing to pay as much for my used vehicle as a result. This generates forced depreciation. Thanks, but no. Android auto works great and will never cost me anything.
@@Bum_Hip you're underestimating what a cheap SOB I am 😁. I think 60k, or even 50k is way, way too much money to spend for any vehicle, EV, ICE, or hybrid. If it has a warp drive, then I'll consider it.
And Chevrolets gonna wonder why they only sell about 500 of them. But it don’t make any difference they’re getting millions in tax credits to build these little plug-in Barbie jeeps.
The Mustang Mach-E looks better the Blazer EV has some odd element and doesn't look like it was designed by one person. However, I like the front of the LT better than the RS for some reason. Storm trooper chic.
This model shown is the 2LT while the 1LT (which is yet to come) can be had with FWD or AWD. The RS is the only one with RWD, 102kw battery, and more horsepower. The 2LT and SS models only come in AWD. If it works for you, the best way to own one of these is to lease it. I just got a killer lease deal on the 2LT as compared to an ID4 and Ioniq 5 that I was considering.
@@pg8794 The difference is that with foam or dry chem, because it is a class B fire (burning liquids) a gasoline fire can be put out quickly. A battery fire however, cannot be put out quickly let alone put out at all. The firefighters have to keep spraying it with water to prevent it from heating up more and burning further out of control but ultimately, because you deal with flammable metals, the fire has to put itself out or use special extinguishers with graphite. Burning metals (class D fire), which is what a lithium metals battery falls under, cannot be put out as easily. So your only options are to wait it out and prevent it from getting worse or as we say in Maritime Academies, “ditch it overboad into the sea.” So that argument “but but but gasoline…” doesn’t hold weight. Battery fires are far worse.
I think quite a few brush/wildfires are caused by hot catalytic converters. If you don’t damage anything, I think fire starting abilities of each vehicle sway heavily in favor of the ICE.
Love the EV technology, owned a PHEV for over 4 years now, however my next car will still be a PHEV. I do not want to deal with the slow charging time, broken charging stations and 100 apps on my phone for every different charging company for a non-Tesla EVs.
Looks ok and has a lot of room inside but at that price they’ll sit on dealers lots for a long time. Once the government is willing to kick in 60% of the purchase price I’ll start looking at EVs. If the government pays for most of it an EV will be fine for me because I’ll be able to keep my good ICE car for my serious transportation needs.
If this is the cheapest you can buy right now, why does it have the sunroof (which is a premium price option that you don't need to have on the cheapest LT trim)?
the Blazer at $60k means that's the $20k cheaper than a 2-motor Cybertruck, and a whopping $40k cheaper than the 3-motor Cyberbeast. you could almost buy 2 additional Chevy Bolts with the savings. 😎
For an EV, I’d say it’s pretty damn good. I mean, the Teslas are boring as fck, and other manufacturers have their problems, but Chevrolet has good battery technology and a flexible platform, meaning this EV is very competitive.
Why give a base model the LT trim designation. Would make sense to just call it a Blazer EV and mark designations when adding features from the factory as standard so base + = LT, LT+ = LTZ
Well actually, I think GM makes better EVs than pretty much the rest of the competition. Investing in the Ultium platform was probably the wisest choice they made in ages, because Ultium is very flexible and cost effective to produce. Hyundai, VW, Ford, and Stellantis EVs are a joke compared to GM. GM has the cheapest EV (Bolt), the most capable EV (Hummer), and the most luxurious EV (Lyric). They have the whole spectrum covered. And I’m saying this as a Ford, Mopar, JDM fanboy! I would not buy an EV now, but I have to say I’m most impressed with GM than any of the competitors.
Not sure how i feel about the charge port door. The car isnt the ugliest front end is okay, overall decent car but not blown by the looks. The rear taillights. I prefer the Equinox EV
So gas blazer is around $35k and base EV Blazer is around $55k. And they wonder why these EVs are having a hard time selling. Sure this is bigger and all but where are the affordable EVs? The $55k+ EV market is completely saturated.
make sense. typically there is $7500 tax incentive and many states gives about $2-3k, let's say 10K. I am not sure if fed tax credit requires the car price under some number ($55k?). so they have to sell the EV less than 10k+comparable ICE. I won't buy the BS that you save money on gas. Yes EV does save some money on gas but comparing the inconvenience, the gas saving money is trivial. I own a bolt and love it. I think GM does have good EV technology but its management constantly make bad decisions, such as stop bolt, etc. selling ev blazer that expensive? it's insane.
I have a feeling these manufactures are going to have financial issues in the near future. Way out of my budget for less car I have now. No thanks. I like it but not worth the inconvenience. Sale price, plus taxes, plus registration, plus insurance, is not worth the hassle.
Wow, all that cheap plastic. Chevy didn't' even try and make it not look cheap. The non grill is just a blank white wall. Not even lining in the storage cubbies meaning anything you put in them will be sliding and rattling around making noises as you drive and go over bumps. One more thing, when automakers coupify their SUVs they lower the roof (esp. in the rear) and completely defeat the purpose of choosing an SUV in the first place (additional head room and cargo room).

It is larger than the Model Y but yeah. The absurd price is what gets me. May as well go for the Lyriq at that point.
