My third or fourth visit with you and your point of view musically speaking always shines through, allowing us to "discover" where and how the music we want to play really is on the uke and enlarging our technical range by extending our musical understanding. Coming from many years playing 6 and 12 string guitar and only 15 months on the uke, this is particularly useful to me.
I have been wanting to achieve this sound on uke for some time now, not knowing it was even possible, thank you so much. Have been following John Hurt.
That was a really wonderful piece of music. Truly amazing. So, your tip is to practise the alternating thumb for a week just to get into subconscious. Does that work with high g as well, or will it sound off?
You can do it with high G but it won’t quite have the same effect. On a high G you’ll want to swap it around so that the C string is hit on Beats 1 and 3 so the lowest note is in the bass
Hi Christopher! I play mostly soprano and the old tunes from the 20-30's just as you do so I'm wondering, would you recommend a low G for this style in particular or would it be sound to bassy? Thanks a lot for what you're doing, this is priceless!
this was great, the only thing I don't get is what fingers to use for the melody line, I just throw whatever fingers are closer (except the thumb) but it doesn't work :)
Do you have any books out with songs Piedmont style ukulele Christopher? I am particularly interested in this style. I hope to one day be able to arrange songs in this style myself.
I love your channell! Thank you very much for the videos
This blew my mind. Mississippi John Hurt on the ukulele? You’re amazing!

Yup! Any finger except the thumb is fine. I use my first and second finger predominately but there is no hard and fast rule about it
Please do a delta blues lesson!

Is that a soprano uke you are playing Christopher.
Time you gave into a mild dose of UAS and got yourself a low G strung uke :)
