Can anyone please help me to solve this question! In a group of 50 people, it was discovered that 30 were male and 25 owned a car. Assuming that each person was either male or owned a car, how many (a)males in the group owned a car? (Answer = 5) (b) car owners in the group were female? (Answer = 20) (c) males in the group did not own a car? (Answer = 25)
@@EmperorsNewWardrobe The difference is even though there are no common elements among sets, a Venn diagram would still show an overlap between the sets. It's just that the overlap consists of an empty set. Notice how there is no overlap in the second diagram depicted. That's why it's an Euler diagram. An Euler diagram displays only existent relationships of elements among sets, whereas a Venn diagram displays all *possible* relationships of the set elements even if none actually exists.
If I was teaching this class I would have taken a moment to explicitly say that OR includes AND in probability. Based on the language one might assume that OR means 14 y.o. or a girl but not both, so 6+7. It was explained correctly in this video, 6+2+7 is correct, it's all there, it just flew by a bit fast (7:08 "here, obviously"). I just would have put some more emphasis on it.
I take it you are referring to the "exclusive or", meaning one or the other but not both. Do you know of a good example to demonstrate this meaning in plain english? From what I have read, in mathematics the "exclusive OR" is rarely used. If that is the case, it would (may?) be fair enough to not have to clarify this meaning, when using OR. The following use of OR seems to me to mean BOTH, and only both. (ie meat AND seafood) A vegetarian diet includes no meat OR seafood. The meaning of the word OR in this example is clear, without explanation (it seems).
THANKS MY MAN, I came here for this exact purpose and I leave a happy man EDIT: please could you clarify how you would interpret: "wrap your legs completely in cling film and gaffer tape" would you use a mixture of cling film and gaffer tape, like a 50-50 split? or would you first wrap all your legs in cling film, and then all in gaffer tape?
Please make more videos sir I never got an opportunity to get a teacher like you

8:20 - Technically, the second diagram is an Euler diagram, not a Venn diagram.
What’s the difference?
