I've watched quite a bit of fires on here, this crew didn't mess around. Very professional and efficient. FDNY is the only other I could say that for that I have seen.
This is the best firefighting video I have EVER seen! The fire department not only saves the original structure but the neighborhood as well. You guys need to be very proud of these firefighters! I hope the city gives them a raise!

Good response time, great scene setup (communications), excellent ladder/tower deployment (location/speed), and wet stuff on red stuff almost immediately upon arrival. Outstanding job, Harrisburg!
Kudos to the HFD and especially to those that got the dog out and those that revived the dog. So many just don't see pets as a family member and for you all to take the care to understand a life is a life even when it is a pet. My hat is off to you!

As a retired FF/EMT/ investigator I love the pictures of the interior. I always try to figure out the start point and the movement based off of fire pattern. Hats off to these brothers and sisters of a quick knock down and well organized!
Tight streets, freezing cold, cars parked in the way (not illegally), snow and ice on the ground and they got water flowing in just a few minutes. Amazing job!

Yes!! You guys got the dog out and resuscitated. The dog's human had to be so happy when she found out. She was in bad shape. I would be too if I knew there was a life trapped inside. Regardless if it's human or animal. Good job everyone!

@@pamike4873 yes you make a very valid point. Acknowledged. I’m just been in situations where it’s been difficult to assess potential rescue situations. A few times we have called second alarms and put firefighters in harms way thinking it was a child or human being trapped, later finding out it was a pet……. I understand what you are saying, but rescue operations are different for a pet vs a human being.
@@pamike4873 but to answer your question, yes I have pet dog that I love. But that level of risk does not go beyond that risk to say your daughter. Sure I would want you to rescue my pet, but not potentially put you in danger to do so. I’d much rather you get home to your daughter safely. And it’s important the responders know how much danger they are going to risk based upon that information.

Sometimes it's impossible, or too late, but I seriously would rather burn than not even try. Yes, it may be stupid, and it may lead to my death. I pray it doesn't. That's all I can do.

Great fire department and command. I can't believe how fast they had the ladder up on the house as well as the other ladder on the bravo side exposure. A lot of times it takes 10 minutes before they get the aerials up. The other thing was the response with all the apparatuses. Very well done. These guys didn't screw around and got to work. Great job

This is the very definition of Grace Under Fire Also, a small glimpse into the the lives of the firemen / first responders. My uncle retired Cheif of their location a few years ago.. he always said that being a fireman is 90% fun and 10% horribly traumatic.. these guys are the best of the best
> 10% horribly traumatic.. my dad did volunteer fire for about 15 years or so for a small department out in the country, calls were rare, and traumatic events even rarer. they did lake rescue also, and he got a call during the winter, someone fell into the ice, and he had to be the guy to fish him out (the victim didnt make it). it wrecked him psychologically for a while after that. a lot of people don't realize there is a cost to being a firefighter, not if, but when something bad will happen to you.

Iits good that you pointed out that house fires are far from the only work these guys do... and imagine the high speed traffic accidents when they are faced with the task of cutting fatally injured folks who may have children on board, cutting the car with the jaws of life, and then show up for the next multiple day shift and being able and ready to do it again.. It takes a special type of human to do that and I look up to all of them.

@@brianbastinelli that is so traumatic for the pets people. Pets and their people grow mutual trust over time and when they are lost like this it tears a hole in your heart. I lost a loving little pooch in whom I had a love bond with him. It was just as sudden but not fire related.
Very well done job by the brothers . You guys are amazing to only have 3 or4 guys per truck . And get results fast . The quicker the fire goes out the faster the hazards diminish. Again great job.

Good Job fire crews. It's rare that animals make it through such an ordeal. I am a retired FF/EMT and I've been on several where the animals didn't. Smoke is not something animals know how to protect themselves from like humans do. Often that is what normally gets to them. Its obvious this was a very close call. Thanks to all men and women who risk everything. I love you all.
Animals have a natural aversion to smoke. They know exactly to protect themselves from something that makes it hard to breath . Most animals are found hiding under beds and in closets, you are not correct in your assessment of animal behavior.
@rapman5791 Protecting oneself is not the same as hiding. Yes, you are right, they usually are found hiding, unless they are a bird in a cage, but humans will grab clothing and put it over their face, run for a door or a window and escape. Animals do not have the mental capacity of humans unless they do find an open window, or an animal door is installed, but they can't do what humans can. In all my years of firefighting, I've never pulled a body of a human out of a house who wasn't dead before the fire, but I can't count the number of animals that I had to carry out and set in the front yard with a tarp over it. I can count the number of cats that were lucky enough to survive. 2 cats!
My biggest fear is having a house fire when I’m not home and losing my pets. I don’t care about my furniture or clothes; those are insured but my furry boys are irreplaceable. Thank you to HFD for saving that doggie. ❤️
This is a well motivated department. Well trained and all business. There is always things that can be done better on every scene. However these guys have the basics down and did a good job. 👍

Solid size up with chief immediately. Great coordination of unit placement. Rapid water on the fire, good aggressive interior attack likely saved this apartment from being a total loss. That was a very hot fire. Great teamwork. That folks is professional fire fighting at its very best.

Is there a link about this concerning the particulars of the outcome of the fire. Such as ; No one was hurt. The house was a total loss. The family was safe and well taken care of. Total estimated cost of the damage. Etc?? Just wondering??
One could tell from the after still shots it was a total loss. As for the adjoining home that would be a great question. The woman said the only one left in there was her dog, they did find the dog and resuscitate it according to the description.
Interior photos are a plus. Usually we only get to see exterior damage. Crews did a nice job knocking it down.

There was no one injured form either home. The Red Cross was helping them out.

Is there a link about this concerning the particulars of the outcome of the fire. Such as ; No one was hurt. The house was a total loss. The family was safe and well taken care of. Total estimated cost of the damage. Etc?? Just wondering??
One could tell from the after still shots it was a total loss. As for the adjoining home that would be a great question. The woman said the only one left in there was her dog, they did find the dog and resuscitate it according to the description.
