Can't help but think Dave chappelle laughed at this when he first saw it. I'm not going to lie, I laughed at this. But after Dave's laughed, he got to thinking and that's where he came up with that beautiful analogy about the baboon salt trap.
And it was a good analogy I'm happy the vidoe is real and not made up to make a point. We all need to let go of those things that can land us into trouble this was a nice lesson.
Those days teams from discovery and Nat Geo used to go to remote places and talk to tribesmen beforehand to film their lifestyle. The tribesman is obviously demo-ing his tricks for the crew to film. The mahalahari man in this video probably already knew this particular waterhole and was simply doing a demo for the cameras. If he goes to some place in the desert he doesn't know very well, he would use this technique to find water from scratch. I have met bushmen from Kalahari in 2004, but sadly they are modernizing very quickly. Modern is not necessarily good. Their native culture is pure and one with nature. We outsiders destroyed it.
@@TheBinoyVudi Modernisation is not necessarily a bad thing. No one should have to fight for food, water and shelter. Weather they’re ancient long forgotten tribesmen, or a homeless drug addict. It should be a human right to have all our basic needs met. It’s more important that their culture, wisdom and religion be preserved than it is to keep someone essentially living in the Stone Age. We could learn so much more by inviting them to live along side us than we ever could from watching them from a distance. That being said, the decision to join us in modern society should be up to them. For example, the North Sentinelese have made clear they wish to be left alone. It’s in all our best interest to offer a hand, let them make the decision weather to take it. The most important thing to remember is we are all human, and we all deserve safety, security and peace.
SemenTheSailor modernization is the worst thing. It has brought us nothing but misery, forcing it upon those who don’t desire it is a crime against humanity
I remember watching this in the 90s on PBS, long before Dave Chappell ever mentioned it, and I remember being amazed how incredibly self-reliant these bushmen are
it's rather elaborate Id say. It just seems like things could go wrong like maybe some monkeys will drop the seeds, or what if you chase it a mile and still doesnt find water while the bushman has already gone a full day w/ no water, it's kind of risky to me.
@@tylerm0089That's why they use this tactic when they are not thirsty already.. or if it's the last and only hope. And there's a lot of ways to entrap a babboon other than the seed scheme.
I just realised that if teachers in schools regardless of how good or bad they are had even a pinch of Dave Chappelle's ability to impart wisdom. then we would all be so much better off and wiser to the cruel realities of the world.. instead of the majority of students being so narrow minded and thick.
the united states educational system is not to help you be successful, or to learn it’s setting you up to be a worker. i feel like if more people were just independent and did things the way they want to it would be a lot better.
seems kind of a stretch this video.. anyways sad that theres people out there that have to go this far for some water while we buy the water in a store or get it from a tap
This video led me to look up Dave Chappelle's name and I've been watching his shows and they're hilarious, but I've been looking for something that imitated this scene and when I finally found this analogy he gave I felt that it was just amazing! What a wise man.

Amazing. When you study nature, they seem to have all of the answers? The Bushmen are clever until someone introduced a Coke bottle in The Gods Must be Crazy film. I wonder whatever happened to that film.
This looks like it was produced and filmed cause it's part of a series where the same guy and another person steal a deer kill from some cheetahs but starts off weirdly with just the deer in front of the cheetah
These is the real difference between humans and animals. These is how human should leave with animals. We should not eat animals but we should use animals for our benefits, so that both animals and humans can leave together happily on this EARTH.

why not just ask the camera man, who was obviously already in the cave and set up ready to film.
John Smith honestly he probably already knew where it was and was just playing along for the film
They are showing them how they found the "formerly secret" water reserve... And how they will find out anymore in the future if this one runs out.
Or maybe the did the shot after they found the cave, smart ass
